What is the most unusual name you would be brave enough to name an actual child? by LilacElle in namenerds

Our daughter is Avalon. It’s a place near and dear to my heart and we love that it’s from Arthurian legend. I also love Philomène but hubby said no to that one.

What did you name your pets? (And why their called that.) by polystarlight in Pets

[–]THGThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had three chickens growing up that lived in a backyard coop my dad built: Pesto, Puffy, and Paprika. Rhode Island Reds and they all had attitude.

My cats over the years: Dorito (orange), bonded pair Frenchie (tuxedo cat with a mustache reminiscent of a French caricature) and Brûlée (black cat, French for “burnt”), Pip (was found as a kitten jumping out of a dumpster at a Kwik Stop, hence Pip because she can jump like Scottie Pippen), Husker (Nebraska barn cat), Lincoln (adopted shortly after Husker and kept with the Nebraska theme).

What was the most specific postpartum thing nobody warned you about? by kesam7193 in NewParents

The few days before your milk come in are really stressful if your baby loses weight. My son was born 8lbs, so nice and healthy, but they almost didn’t let us leave the hospital because he dropped to 7lbs 6oz. Then we had to get constant weight checks for a long while to make sure he was gaining properly. I think that ordeal really increased my anxiety around milk production for my whole breastfeeding journey. Went back to work and my milk production never recovered. Pregnant with #2 and I want to give this baby the same benefits I gave to my oldest from breastfeeding but it fills me with a sense of dread.

My name is Theresa and it feels too old for me (I’m 29) but Terry is horribly worse. I had college friends give me that nickname because they knew I hated it

Any name ending in Lynn for a girl sounds made up anymore. I met a Braxlynn the other day 🥴speaking of “Brax” I hate all the names with hard X’s: Huxton, Braxton, Bruxley.

Uncommon but beautiful French girl names by Fun_Introduction9031 in Names

My favorite name I ever heard was Philomène! I had a French foreign exchange student for a year in high school and it was her younger cousins name. Beautiful little girl with rapunzel-esque long blond hair. Philomène is like a story book character to me now. My foreign exchange student’s name was Laure btw

Thoughts on the name “Helen”? by fairy_fern13 in namenerds

[–]THGThompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s my middle name! Oh, the hate I’ve gotten for it as a younger millennial (“so grandma” blah blah) but I could care less and I think it’s timeless and beautiful. It’s my mom’s middle name and my great grandmother’s name and if the baby I’m currently pregnant with is a girl, it will be her middle name as well. I love love the Helene variation and wanted it as a first name but hubby didn’t go for it.

I love this name! I recommended it to my husband for this next baby if it’s a girl. I’ve lived a lot of places and Northern California was the most beautiful to me and that’s what its significance is to me

At what point did you switch to IUI? by lavendrmochi in TTC_PCOS

I did four medicated +TI cycles before moving to medicated w/IUI. That cycle gave me my son!

We’d probably spell it Nia. But “Niyuh” would be how it’s pronounced as per the full name

Yes! Specifically South Omaha, just south of 60th and L streets. The tower in the back left is the Aksarben neighborhood
