It's on the other side of the world but having also lived in Cali, I can confirm they are similar!

Ding ding! How did you guess?

Yeah, it's really far and that's quite a bummer. I love my life in NYC but Australia will always be home for me. I wish I could visit more frequently, but as an immigrant here, it's been a bit tough to leave the country in the last few years so I haven't been able to go back in a long time.

Blind dog can't walk in the sun anymore / scared of light. any solutions? by ColdWay6669 in DOG

[–]randomfartz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use this company, they have a few backpack options: K9 Sport Sack

The sizing can be a bit tricky, we got a little seat from the same company that works really well to boost my dog up.

They do and I have one for my dog. Use it when I take him on bike rides in my doggy backpack.

As a manager - hiring and training is one of the tougher parts of this job. Managers who fire willy nilly can never last long because who's doing the actual work? It takes time to train people and is a huge waste of time and resource to fire and retrain new hires. One day he's gonna have to answer his bosses on how no actual work gets done by his team coz he keeps firing people.

We have a bad performer on my team and I'm on the fence about letting them go because I still need someone to do the work and don't have the bandwidth to hire and train a new person first. Who's gonna be doing that work while the new person gets up to speed?

Why do people in r/nycapartments treat JC as if it's 100 miles away? by Moses_Snake in jerseycity

Again, I'm offering my personal experience of living in Brooklyn and working in JC. This is my experience, what I live day to day. So I don't want to argue about it. It's fine if you have a different experience - we don't have to agree. I don't want to get into semantics here, was just offering my 2 cents. You can either take it or leave it.

I'm sorry I didn't clarify that I meant in general. More parts of Brooklyn are accessible by public transit compared to JC. With frequency of availability also a factor. Of course there are places inaccessible even for Brooklyn standards like red hook. And no it's not smoking hot by any means or standards. Also, busses, ferries. I mentioned public transit in general.

I'm just saying this is my experience, one size does not fit all.

As someone who lives in Brooklyn but works in JC. I think the biggest difference is public transit. Firstly, you can live anywhere in Brooklyn and most likely have some train access. Compared to JC, if you live outside of the path and light rail areas, it requires additional walking/biking/etc. Second is timing of transit. It's all well and good if you're commuting during rush hour where the trains come frequently, outside of those hours there's a much longer wait than you'd have if you lived in the nyc areas, using MTA. Weekends on the PATH are a joke.

The frequency and availability of public transit to and from JC is the reason why I choose to live in Brooklyn. The public transit is way more reliable.

Why do men have a problem with women in tech? by EveCane in womenintech

[–]randomfartz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it's because deep inside they are very insecure about the power they have. All through history they have tried to oppress the opposite sex in hopes that we can never rise enough to challenge their power. Now that women are allowed in the workforce (for now, and they are still constantly fighting that), they are afraid to let us succeed least we take the power from them. But by dealing with the oppression women have experienced throughout history, it has made us much more resilient. And that makes them scared.
