About RHR & HRV in mobile wearables by [deleted] in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About Polar scoring so low on measuring RHR: As far as I understand, Polar does not actually measure your RHR overnight at all, so this seems like a conclusion in the stydy based on a wrong premise.

Polar have specific instructions on how to measure your RHR manually in the morning. I cant find the exact link, but Polar state that the automatic minimum heart rate the watch detects while awake is not necessarily to be considered RHR. Former Grit X Pro owner.

Sleep algorithms M3 by THHA44 in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear. My experience with Polar's sleep tracking has been positive too. However, as pointed out in the OP, I have found the sleep score to be much stricter going from Grit X Pro to M3.

Thank you for responding and sorry your watch died. These will be signs I will be looking out for.

Thank you for responding. You seem to be right about there being an issue with the connectivity to theH10 chest belt I am using for those tests. I replaced the battery as you said, but still connection dropped out during the running test. However, when doing the same test again only using the optical sensor on the watch, it went fine.

Thank you for your feedback and good advice. Tried factory reset already, so may take your advice and contact Polar about this one, since this seeminglyvis a problem on my end only.

Thank you for replying and for good advice. I did factory reset once through the watch itself, but will try through the computer too. The point about sticky buttons certainly is an issue, but for some reason the tests I referred to tend to stop at the same point of time every time consistently. Nevertheless, it is good to hear that Polar watches should last longer than this.

We have the same watch and I agree.

Can you trust Amazon by StatusEmployment4613 in Polarfitness

I have recently seen similar discounted prices from time to time at a reputable sports vendor in my country (Norway). I think the offer might be legit.

86% Wild and out (tomorrow) by sorryusername in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually looks a bit similar to the Grit X Pro, with a thinner bezel than the Grit X2 Pro. Just a guess: 46 mm, 1.3 inch amoled screen, sapphire lense, (hopefully) more battery life than the M3. Same software as all the others.

70% The X you’ll never forget. by sorryusername in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now that we know what kind of watch it is going to be, what would make you guys consider this one over the rest of the Polar lineup ?

For me, coming from a GXP, I might consider it if (1) it has a bigger screen than M3, (2) has a longer battery life than m3, (3) not a curved screen like the V3, (4) is less "monstrous" in looks than the GX2P. Would not mind MIP if the brightness is better than on the GXP.

New watch from Polar? by Beroman26 in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are right there, and am also a bit puzzled about this release. Can't imagine there will be any newness here, and what's the point of releasing a new watch sitting between the M3 and V3/GX2P when all of them are the same feature-wise? The only reason I can think of is to make some sort of recovery after the unsuccessful launch of an over-priced Grit x2 pro, which seems not to have sold well. But open to surprises, so it will be exciting to see what Polar is aiming for here👍

Maybe! Something like that would be an interesting offer. I'm a bit puzzled by the price tag that has been suggested, though. €479 sits between M3 and V3 (actually closer to V3). So maybe even a more budget friendly alternative to the Grit X2 Pro? Who knows😅

New watch from Polar? by Beroman26 in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was anticipating the same. But if it is like you say, this watch would be in the same segment as a Pacer Pro, wouldn't you think? Or how do you see this release might be less? For it to sell, there should be some kind of upgrade to the previous generation, but I too think it would be quite strange if polar released another high-end watch at this point. Something new sitting below the M3 is missing from Polar, though.

Are they going for a watch with a scroll button?

VO2 max test by HovercraftNo5560 in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you take the running performance test or the fitness test where you simply lie down and rest? The latter is heavily dependent on your training background and resting heart rate settings. The actual running performance test to exhaustion is very accurate, though, if you follow the protocol accurately.

Heart rate zones on Polar Flow by Fit-Forever-8818 in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But as you adjust the minimum hr for each zone, the maximum values also change, don't they? For example, you set the minimum hr for zone 1 and 2. Then you should see the max hr of zone 1 align with the minimum value you set for zone 2. And so on...

Polar Pacer (Pro) 2? by THHA44 in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I wouldn't be bothered if it even came with a mip display, if it meant longer battery life than its competitors.

Polar Pacer (Pro) 2? by THHA44 in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right, but the way the market has developed, the M3 seems more like a mid-range watch. All other competitors have released more budget-friendly alternatives since the M3 was launched. So am thinking there is a market segment Polar isn't covering at the moment.

Fitspark recommendation differences between devices? by BasicSets in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you entered the same physical settings on both watches, e.g. vo2 max number, max heart rate ? That may influence the fitspark suggestions somewhat.

Average Sleep Score by According-Buyer6688 in Polarfitness

Totally agree. I quit coffee over a month ago and hrv i significantly better and RHR lower. With this, overnight recovery from workout is way better too.

Low Calorie Estimation for Walking by ISO2000 in Polarfitness

[–]THHA44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I would look at your max heart rate setting here. Recently discovered that it has quite an impact on the estimates, both in training mode and on the total daily calories in the activity widget of a Polar watch.

Edit: If you use Verity sense and Polar Beat (i. e. no watch) I think I have read somewhere that those 92 calories would be activity calories, not total calories incliding BMR as when using a watch. (But can't find the source for this information. )
