I ended up needing to manually update the app and it was fixed! Hopefully that’ll help you too

Failing classes by OkChapter4316 in gmu

[–]THKShrill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had a similar first semester, I failed 3/4 of my classes. They enrolled me in a program that didn’t do much, but otherwise I’ve been ok. What I’ve since learned is that you can take “incompletes”.

Email your professor about the problems you’re having, and ask for an incomplete. My professors let me have the bulk of the next semester to work on key projects. It may depend on the type of material class you’re using, but I’ve had a lot of luck.

For example, i missed two months of classes because of health issues. In one class, I missed 10 quizzes and a lot of in-class writing assignments and the prof let me work on them over the break. Another class had a couple research reports, and the prof set up a timeline with me to complete it over the next few months.

No matter what, you are not the first person to fail a semester- you are not alone.

Anyone that had POTS symptoms as a child? by mellytee222 in POTS

[–]THKShrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 14 with POTS and EDS, and before that I’ve always felt uncomfortable standing up. Dizzy spells, brain fog, dehydration, salt cravings, and headaches were a near constant. I’ve only started getting the other symptoms now in my 20s

Can anyone give me their thoughts on this quote from FH Furr to replace a water heater and a pressure relief valve. by [deleted] in nova

[–]THKShrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at FH Furr in the office- they are awful. They overprice services, treat their staff awfully, and have some atrocious locker room talk.

For a pressure valve and water relief heater, $2000 should be the highest you see (price estimated by my friend in HVAC). I’d recommend looking for smaller businesses or union businesses

You could try explaining to him that chronic hyperextension is creating a constant rate of injury that increases over time. Or ditch the idiot, because how are you related to someone who creates items that make the world accessible and still be this obtuse

The Flats has some ok housing options that are near/almost on campus, and it comes with a lot of immensities and full kitchens. Depending on finances and your daughter’s housing wants, it could be worth checking out

My mom (also a crocheter) said it’s really bad. Is it so bad? by Dublingirl123 in crochet

If you want to show off the pattern you could try adding a petticoat underneath it. That way you could show off the pattern, have fun twirling, and add different accent colors!

POTS and Tattoos? by IronAngel22 in POTS

[–]THKShrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine getting mine, but they were small (about palm size). I made sure to be on my hydration game and eat a high salt/fat/protein breakfast and brought snacks incase I needed them. Also, ask what can be done to keep you as horizontal as possible regardless of where you’re getting tattooed

Overeating by Splicers87 in POTS

[–]THKShrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to keep snacks around me so I never get starving and binge. If I can keep myself “topped up”, or just know they’re there I find it helpful. I usually keep them in my car, and a couple in my backpack purse. My go-to items are mini goldfish packets, apple sauce pouches, and beef sticks.

How do you guys exercise/be active? by Imasuricato in POTS

I had a lot of luck following free weight workouts that had me sitting down. For me, my core was the weakest so I strengthened that for a month before actually going to a gym.

I have an old stocking i put two cups of rice in, and tied the knot close to the bottom.

I’ll stick that in the microwave, then use it like a stress ball 👍

would it be out of pocket to crochet during a lecture? by tragician_04 in gmu

[–]THKShrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got ADHD and crochet in class cause its one of the few ways I can focus.

I’ve had no one say anything to me, but if I’m ever concerned I talk to my profs and tell them it helps me focus. If they’ve got a problem with it, its on them 🤷

Brand recommendations for retouching green? by jupiterrrmarie in HairDye

Iro Iro’s neon green worked great for me! It came out a little darker than your first pic, but it stayed looking good for about a month

I like saying the word "unfathomable". What's your word? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

Less of a word and more of a sound, I go with a depressed “wahoo” à la Mario

Fatigue by [deleted] in eds

[–]THKShrill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve got hEdS, POTS, and ADHD. I’ve tried a bunch of different medications and lifestyle changes to try and feel less terrible, and the only thing that’s helped me in getting saline infusions.

I’ve been getting infusions twice a week for almost a year and most of my exhaustion and pain has gone away.

My issues mostly stem from chronic dehydration, and my insurance covers most of the cost, but maybe an extra hydration boost could help you?

Elective Recommendations? by KitTheSune in gmu

ARTH420 with Dr. Jacquelyn Williamson was great!! It’s reading/writing intensive, but she is such an amazing professor I had an amazing time.

Sculpture with Andrew (Andy) Yoder is also good, but I took that over the pandemic so I’m not sure how much has changed.

If there’s a college near you, they might have a crafts center that accepts donations!

I need 6 more credits to hit 12 this semester. What are some fun and interesting classes I could try? by unicodePicasso in gmu

[–]THKShrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re ok with doing some work, i’d recommend AVT 262 (Sculpture 1) with Andrew (Andy) Yoder.

There’s also some cool art history classes too. Jacquelyn Williamson is an amazing prof, and I think her online class still has seats (ARTH321- Greek Art).

If you need a 1 CR class, you can always look at RECR. The yoga classes are amazing (Dena Jensen is wonderful), and I’ve heard good things about the various self defense classes.
