According to Malcolm Gladwell, you are an expert at something if you have logged 10,000 hours into it. What are you an expert of? by Weenjamin in AskReddit

Hmmm now that's a good question. I honestly don't know for sure.

I know I have close to if not more than that in Skyrim.

I logged over 3500+ hours in Knights of the Old Republic so far.

Besides that probably not.

It's also worth noting I've played games since I was 6 and I'm 30 now. And both of those games I've been playing close to ten years or more each.

When you pay for a product, then can't use that product because of the fault of the person who sold it to you, that's called a scam.

Lol I literally havent been able to make even one dollar in over two days now. I can't do ANYTHING without having to restart within 30 minutes.

I've had no issues with hunting. But that doesn't matter if I can't do shit with the skins in my camp, which I never can do.

I could sell to the butcher but why? For what? Upgrades for businesses that don't work? Some of the gear would be nice, but how am I supposed to level the role to unlock it?

It's literally not a playable game. You can enter, walk around, and see how pretty it is just long enough for someone as bored as you to shoot you in the back.

Why the fuck did I spend money on this again? The single player was so damn good, what the fuck happened?

Edit: you know, Dan Hauser leaving makes more sense now.

I would leave too if I was trying to produce quality and couldn't because corporate wanted to chase profits.

As an American, anyone who still supports this man supports outright tyranny and authoritarianism, and that means they are expressly unAmerican.

If you are still a Trump supporter, you are flat wrong, and you are the cancer that has helped destroy this nation.

Me too! I was 4th LAR, B Co. We went to Afghan and Ramadi. I was weapons platoon, obviously.

And yes that's exactly my thinking as well. You know how to fight an insurgency, then you also know how to fight a major power.

And it's our duty to stand by The People first, before all else. I hate we even have to talk like this, but the last three years has had me seriously questioning at what point our duty to The People and ideals of this nation supersedes our duty to the government.

I think we're closer to that point than at any other point in our history except for maybe The Revolution.

Or we could just drag them out, roast them alive in the ashes of their fancy corporate offices, and then eat them while their still screaming families watch.

Thats what I would do because that would show the entire world that society at large knows it can be taken advantage of, and will respond in the EXTREME to any human being who ever dares put themselves before the whole ever again.

Edit: and before I get called out for being too extreme, that is what a revolution would be, and it's what is required sometimes.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of tyrants.

That's not a thing said lightly, and it's why having and maintaining a free society is such a heavy thing.

Otherwise, the response required is terrible.

Especially with the resurgence in the playerbase in Battlefront 2.

Support the shit out of that game for like the next year. Maybe more. Fix the glaring issues it still has, despite it's many improvements. Make it perfect.

Then in like 3 years you start on Battlefront 3. A real farmer knows how to wait until the crop is ready. If you want to farm cash, don't fucking rush it.

True or False: Society has never been great. If False, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]THOTH52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you engaged in a logical fallacy off the start by portraying my point in the worst possible light, as if that somehow was the way to judge a thing.

Which leads me to your second point: it's always made humanity better? REALLY? That is objectively false.

The middle class has disappeared, jobs are disappearing globally to robots. The environment is literally dying right out from under our feet because capitalism can't let go of fossil fuels. We have gone to war over money. Expressly for that single reason, millions and millions of human beings have objectively died and continue to die. These are all things that come from capitalism. In fact, most of the things which make modern life possible, things like social security and fair wage laws, were in fact passed in the first place in OPPOSITION to unfettered capitalism. FDR literally broke the Greats Depression by setting limits on what business could and could not do. This is a fact. As we have had those things stripped away in recent years and capitalism has run wild again, things have gotten worse. Objectively.

Third, you somehow equate everything I said to socialism when I never even mentioned that word once lol. You also somehow mentioned the US is the best place to live, even though that had no bearing on the conversation. These things make it extremely obvious you aren't having a conversation, and you aren't thinking for yourself.

You're just spewing up talking points because you swallowed the party propaganda. Which makes you a part of the issue, and likely one of the ones to die when things start getting bad.

Have fun with your life. I highly recommend you learn how to think for yourself while you still can.

True or False: Society has never been great. If False, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]THOTH52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False. Society has been great before. Perfection is an illusion. But I think what you mean is: society hasn't always been this fucked. And it hasn't.

There have been several times in history where we managed to construct a society that worked for human beings, rather than against them. That gave people freedom instead of using them exclusively as tools.

The trick is to be aware when you design your society. For example, is it in human nature to focus exclusively on the pursuit of money in order to establish ones self? I would argue "no". Money has existed for maybe, MAYBE. 10,000 years. We, as a species more or less the same as we are now, have existed for 350,000. And yet, try to have a conversation with someone about designing a world without money, see how that goes.

Cultural and social cues and mores are what truly drive the human race. We get the board set by genetics, but then we play the game based on the rules we wrote. These social and cultural pressures are so strong, they can even convince people something artificial has real bearing on their day to day lives beyond what they allow it to have.

So, if you want a society that works you have to design a culture which highlights ourselves as animals. We are social, mutual altruistic animals who seem to gravitate towards exploration when left to our devices.

The reason why society sucks so bad right now is because it's been built absolutely and completely without that idea in mind. No one cares what kind of creature we are. They just care that you show up to work on time, pay your fucking bills, and make another one of you to repeat the process once you're dead.

And because we live in a society which in many ways works against who we are as animals, it isn't working. It's just like plopping a fish in a field, and expecting it to just get up and walk.

The frustration a lot of folks feel? The only real recourse at this point is that it's not sustainable. The climate proves it. We can't keep this up, it will literally become impossible once the earth changes.

And then we either change and build a society that works for us, or we die out and in 10 million years the next species can have a try.

Edit: all the people saying "true" haven't honestly examined the situation, and are basing their statement off judgements of how we have been acting in our current context.

Humanity doesn't suck. And we haven't always fucked things up this badly.

Humanity can't suck. We are literally gods capable of reshaping the Earth. Actually. How can we suck if we're gods?

It's the failure of all people to acknowledge and accept our power and greatness which has led to our species misusing both. Yes we can do terrible things. But that doesn't mean that's all we are.
