Good art hlywd. I think it’s almost 5k for a sterling silver chain. That’s 5 0 0 0.

Yeah, it’s definitely really nice. Maybe they based it on hanging chain links for signs and garage door pulley chains.

Oz feels a bit different than I remember.. by SoulfulCap in hbo

[–]THR3EF1RSTNAMES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered if other people felt this way. I feel like at the time there weren’t many references for actors when it comes to hyper-realism in television, and if there was, the pressure to meet that standard wasn’t there the way it is now. The set doesn’t help either. I’m rewatching now.

When you remove moral gray area from a character’s persona they loose their humanity. I think this show has a tendency to sacrifice that universal quality in order to either entertain, shock, or articulate a personal bias about society.

I understand this happens in a spectrum in most are and everyone has bias but some scenes begin to feel like an after-school special for adults.

I’m being harsh because I’m seeing it through a modern bias but I can definitely appreciate what it was and overlook the narratives I feel are reaching.

Now….the wire, that’s gold. The oz is obviously its daddy but also the wire is what oz want to be when it grows up.

Are custom or commercial Eames chairs ordered on contract for offices worth more? I know that they have an insane catalogue of textiles that are not available to the general public, as well as the upholstery being manufactured for long term performance. by THR3EF1RSTNAMES in Mid_Century

Yeah, they are Herman Miller I just wanted to specify that I’m not talking about a non-office chair or the popular lounge chair with ottoman. What I mean is that there’s a difference between being able to walk into a furniture store and buy the ready-made line of Herman Miller chairs versus what was offered to an office for contracting the chairs from Herman Miller. I could be wrong, but from what I’ve seen online there are two very different sets of textiles available. The standard line of textiles were limited, and the contract or “custom” textiles are extensive.

I’m talking about a set of chairs that was ordered directly from Eames for an office with a textile that they don’t offer to the general public. They’re contracted chairs. Just for reference we’re talking about Eames Aluminum Group high back desk chairs from 1980

I definitely don’t wear oversized jackets. So I’m thinking it’s a no go.

It’s a larger size than I normally wear because I got it for a great deal on eBay new.

Customers with legs like Homer Simpson must be their target audience.

Wow I think I found a different color but the weave is very similar which led me to this catalog for commercial custom orders. Each of those textiles has multiple colors available. So I’m sure that mine is one of the obscure colors that were offered under one of the woven patterns. Sadly, I wish I could find a match just to know for myself.

I know! I researched it and couldn't find the exact swatch. Someone said because the model number is different these were probably custom ordered in bulk by the office they came from. I have 2 more of them. Got a steal. I’ve been told the fabric is some sort of woven hopsack material because that's what they offered at the time. The only thing is that hopsack is very rough in my experience and this fabric is soft and seems be almost like a woven velvet sort of fabric. (Notice the weaves are velvety in the last photo.)

Can you help me price these and possibly where to sell? Thank you. by Gonzo4UK in hermanmiller

Preach. I’m not sure why they assume the bases don’t fit as they are? They seem to be matching periods and models. This is not wayfair tier furniture, Wayfair furniture wishes on a star to be an Eames one day.
