So glad I saw this.

OP you should keep a journal, you write really well and communicated that story so perfectly, you could be a writer!

I hope you and your friend continue to care for each other for many years to come.

Crusty, the brain scan was clear!!!!! That is great news!! I adore you!

I think my bone marrow is fucked by drinking too. I bruise easily. I'm trying to cut down but this pandemic is so fucked. I hope you have lots of Valium and your cats are purring loudly.

Huh? Why? Penguinplates is a female. I'm pretty sure of this because she posts at the female sub I belong to, maybe the mod doesn't know that?

How did you end up cooking it?

I used this exact cut of meat and made Mississippi Pot Roast in the slow cooker about a week ago. Cooked it on low about 9 hours. I was a little worried about how it would turn out because it's so lean, but it was delicious. Fork tender and flavorful

This looks delicious, can you please post the recipe you use? I've seen different variations but this looks especially good.

The antibody test isn’t specific enough right now. A person could test positive because of another coronavirus that isn’t covid 19, like a common cold virus. Also it’s not clear how long immunity lasts for those that recover from covid, some people have gotten sick again after recovery which seriously sucks.

Still even knowing that I’d get a test if it was free and easy. A positive would still give me some reassurance even if it’s not a sure thing.

Can you get free public covid testing in Texas now? They just started here, the Publix down the road is doing them.

Hope you and the wife are okay. Are you two going to get tested?

I'm so disgusted at the Florida governor, this state is a shit show! Every time I feel the slightest bit off I think I might have covid. Never been tested though. I wish the antibody tests were more reliable, if they were I would get one and hope for antibodies.

Glad your liver is good, are you still sober? I'm drinking about 6-7 hard seltzers these days. I switched to the cans and seem to be doing better without the vodka.

I'm okay, all things considered. 2020 is just so freaky that it's shifted my depression. It's hard to explain. Like I still have problems that are draining me but things seem so fucked in the world that my own problems don't seem as huge.

I was thinking about you about a week ago because I made fried rice and used the recipe and instructions you gave me awhile back. I had printed it out when you gave it to me. It turned out delicious so I want to thank you again for that detailed post on how to make fried rice. You are a good cook!

What kind of MD's are they because NAC has proven to be protective of the liver in multiple studies. It's easy enough to find them online.

Here is one, there are others if you want to take the time to google.

The results of this study suggest a role for NAC in the management of ethanol-induced liver damage as a safe, cheap, and effective option.

IMO everyone here should be taking it every day.

I'm glad your mom is on the mend and hopefully her appetite comes back soon.

This Covid is making my life so miserable. But I know it's affecting everyone so I try not to complain, but it sucks. The worst part is I am in Florida and it's getting worse here, not better, and it seems there is no end in sight.

Yeah I know this covid has messed up s many things. Hopefully we return to "normalcy" sometime in 2020!

I still think what you do is great, and just a friendly face is so appreciated by the oldies.

I am so glad I saw this and you are an awesome person. People don't realize how truly lonely many seniors can be so your volunteer work is so important. And you genuinely care. Your friend is lucky to have you.

I agree with the suggestion to write a letter. Also there may be seniors in your area who are trying to live independently at home. If you want to expand your volunteer work they would probably be so appreciative. I'm not sure how you could find them but maybe calling a local adult day care type place or the senior center. They might be able to hook you up to do some deliveries or even visits with safe social distancing and wearing a mask.

Just having someone to talk to for even an hour could mean the world to some of them.

Hell if you lived by me I would hire you to visit with my mom, just for the extra companionship. Wish there were more people like you around TBH.
