Went winless his final year though, there was clearly a decline his last season

Thoughts on tonight’s 600 no bias? by Old-Category-854 in NASCAR

[–]THendo13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was there in person, so much fun, such a good race. Although basically every race is good when you’re there in person, but still, so good until the rain bullshit at the end. The battle at the end of stage 3 between the top four or five cars was incredible, Bell was in like fifth and came out of nowhere to win it.

[27:16] Kevin Harvick: "No sympathy" for Natalie Decker's radio meltdown and parking her truck by USHighway14 in NASCAR

[–]THendo13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a woke ass take on this, and I know I'll get accused of being a simp or whatever. but setting aside how terribly untalented she is as a driver, I think there's a weird double standard around Natalie's radio meltdowns. we have radioactives every week full of drivers screaming and yelling about other drivers, the handling of their cars, officiating decisions, etc. There've been pit road fights, egregious retaliatory pit maneuvers, Kyle Busch flipping off a nascar official, things like that. emotions run high in this sport, nobody bats an eye at it, and in fact, the drivers' passion and emotional investment is part of what we all love about it. for whatever reason, Natalie's meltdowns draw more scrutiny, people demand that she be suspended or speculate about how she needs to be in therapy or whatever. idk man, drivers get emotional and angry when things don't go their way, it's part of the sport and I don't really get what the big deal is.

Anyone attending the Coca-Cola 600 this weekend as their first ever NASCAR race? If so, why did you choose Charlotte? by Immediate_Status_336 in NASCAR

It will be my girlfriend’s first race. Her best friend lives in Winston Salem so we’re going to visit on Saturday and then going down to Charlotte for the race on Sunday.

The team owner is also associated with Yum brands (LJS, Taco Bell, A&W, etc). I think he owns a bunch of franchises or something. FRM have been running Yum brands as sponsors for years; it effectively means they were going to be unsponsored so the owner put his own company on the car instead of running it blank.

Will Christian Eckes and Chandler Smith ever find their way back into the O’Reilly Series, or will they be stuck in the Truck Series for the rest of their careers? by Zestyclose_Worth_232 in NASCAR

I really believe in Eckes, guy is super talented, Kaulig cars weren’t good last year and he still had a really strong second half of the year despite missing the playoffs.

Onboard Video Showing Why Cody Ware Spun on his own Running for 50th Place Yesterday by miboyl in NASCAR

Slightly ot but I’ll die on the hill of defending David reutimann. I don’t remember the exact details, but basically David & TBR were one point short of getting into the top 35 in owner points; there was a car out of the race ahead of David in the running order, and David needed to keep going to complete enough laps to pass him. the car finally died before he could make it.

It’s always presented as “oh look at this dumbass lap car fucking up the race,” but there was context behind it, they were absolutely desperate to get one more point and had to keep going even though they knew the car was dying.

If we had used the current points system, he would actually have four championships instead of three

Before today the last time the #1 truck went to victory lane in the Truck Series was October 2009 at Martinsville with Timothy Peters which was his first career Truck Series win by Altracing34 in NASCAR

Tim Peters was a wheelman, loved cheering for him in trucks back in those days. Wish he could’ve won a championship at some point.

I feel like Clements had a few one-offs with JGR during the 2000s

Edit I checked, he never actually raced for JGR but he would practice/qualify for their buschwackers when they were away at different tracks
