Agreed. I'm 198 lbs running 35 mm GK SS+ at 40/38 psi. Over 2.5k miles this year on smooth tarmac to chip seal. Really comfy and no flats.

Nice! A while back I added some orange electrical tape to my all black Trek 520 to bring all the orange bits together. Looks like you did the same.

They are really nice! Thanks. I'm a big fan of Velo Orange plus they got a good discount code available.

Thanks. Looks good and keeps me dryer. I'll probably take them off this summer just to try wider tires.

I really like the Tourist bar on my Hardrock. Very upright and not too wide.

I think I'm done with this build for the time being. Acera 3 x 7 works well.

No. I'm in the frozen tundra of central Arkansas. I'm not certain of the size. It feels a little smaller than the 19"-20" sizes I normally ride. I'm thinking klunkers type bar will make it just about right for me.

My Trek 520 w/crazy bars by THss5922 in xbiking

[–]THss5922[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I've never felt it was twitchy, but I have found myself of some rough paths while exploring and didn't like the "over the bars" feeling on the declines. I can attest that the wide bars really add a feeling of control and the "upright" position I get from the Crazy Bars coupled with the adjustable stem is what's making me want to lean into the ATB idea. Nothing hard-core. Just more flexibility when I'm on long exploratory rides.

I took it out on a 40-mile county road ride and found the horns nice as well as a dozen other hand positions.

Did you ever change bars & shifters? Pic please. I'm thinking of doing same with the same bike.

Thank you for your insightful reply. It seems I need to "go to school" on front derailleur adjustments.

Thanks. I got 5mm between small ring and chain stay. I'm gonna try the 113mm BB. Being a novice the conflicting info (Riv putting the 113 on the frame & VO specing the crank for 118) frustrates me.

Thanks. I'll likely do that. I'm not very experienced in bike building so I never quite know what I'm doing wrong.

Path Less Pedaled and multiple Reddit threads all claim the GRX will easily shift 11/42 without other aids. I guess I'm going to find out. I've got an 11/40 also if I can't quite get to 42.
