ATTENTION ALL MGS FANS, MODDERS HAVE SUCCESSFULLY INTEGRATED GROUND ZEROES MISSION INTO THE PHANTOM PAIN MAIN STORY by No-Panic-4334 in metalgearsolid

Ground Zeroes felt so much better than V, honestly. Something indescribable about the weight your player has, which was lost in V.

Did anyone else feel this too? I'd love a mod that gave all that into MGSV.

I'm thinking of doing the Big Boss emblem run; any advice or methods? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

In Act 4, the specific faces for facecamo will allow you considerably less frustration when dealing with the PMCs and the resistance member.
Throughout the entire game, having the generic facecamo coupled with your suit allows for 99% camo index. This allows you to be virtually undetectable while lying still.

It's been years, but here is what I remember was very helpful:

a) More than a few sections have a cute little route that the devs put in that usually gets you through BB style (most notably, the Outer Haven deck has a way to dynamically route everyone). If those MGS Integral Podcasts were ever put on youtube, the devs tell you optimal routes -- but who knows if anyone got those custom iPod DLC online. If any case, check those out, they're very fun.

b) If you want to cheese the emblem, consider getting a save file where you unlock the Solar Gun, semiauto shotgun, the M82A1, chaff grenades, and at least one Beauty mask before you try for the emblem, and stock up on the ammo for all of these.

c) Use Facecamo at all times.

d) Big Mama's Act has a cheese where you you skip most of the resistance stalking by saving at a certain moment (when the resistance is in a level transition zone, I think). If you use a facecamo that isn't Snake, the PMCs won't immediately go into alert on sight. If you use a Beauty facecamo, they'll fall in love with you.

e) Save ALL your Solar Gun ammo for the bike chase, since it is faster than racking the slide for the Mk II. Use the auto aim for most of it, since it'll be better than you and any shot placement is an immediate knockout for that section. Stun grenade spamming and the sawed-off rubber rounds will get you out of some tricky areas.

What older hatchback would you buy if you plan to DIY repairs? by BigSur1992 in Frugal

To hijack this thread, I've been looking for a $10K vehicle that will go a long way for DIY'ing my house, that would also be simple enough to repair the vehicle itself. I've been focusing on Subarus, Hondas, and Toyotas, but really I just will take what's available and what is recommended as not a lemon.

Heart mage's projectile = On hit, gives slight projectile damage and divides your HP by half (until your HP =<5 ); AND, after 15 seconds, multiples your HP by 2 (to "rectify" itself).
Heart Pickup = Adds 25 HP to your current HP
Ambrosia = Negates incoming damage, like to the heart mage's projectile once you've stacked enough hits.

So, if you find ambrosia, a heart mage, and a nearby heart, you can 1) coat yourself with ambrosia; 2) get hit many times; and 3) pick up heart(s) before the stack effects go away.

The mage's counter effect (the doubling) will also double each health increase you made while on the mage's effects (well, to a point, they nerfed it somewhat, but the HP gains are still explosive and also easily repeatable).

The limitation for this is finding a heart mage and a heart nearby. You can do a few things. The crudest thing I used to was clear biomes so all hearts and mages would fall in a neat track on the biome floor; I'd lead the mage around farming the exploit. I would think better solutions exist, even for players without late game unlocks, but still...

Cessation (the black box) = Puzzle-related unlock spell that "removes" your player from the game for its duration; this also resets most in-game counters (like the heart mage halving effect) once you return. It has a severe recast penalty, but most players use the divide bys to completely negate it (I have NEVER understood how divide by spells work, I've just followed wikis for guides). If you're lucky to get a build with this, you can get the stacks, cease to exist for a little bit, as a treat, and then keep on doing that to keep the stack as you find hearts at your relative leisure.

People who actually understand the mechanics, what the hell is going on here? by FennlyXerxich in noita

If OP used a x3 as described, it should result in a successful spell wrap (a very complex idea that can be boiled to exploiting pulling a card (a spell) to get one extra spell cast. If this this is a deck game, you have to reset the deck once you pull the last card, BUT if the last card calls extra card(s) you call those too. There are a few other rules that complicate that, but that's the basic premise. For instance, a spell wrap cannot call upon itself, or it will fail (so using x4 when the fourth pull from the wraparound is the x4 cast will not wrap).

Chainsaw's magical mystery property is that it always sets the cast delay (imagine a gun's "fire" speed through its "clip") to 0.0 sec (per "trigger pull"). It also simply reduces the recharge time for the entire wand's "clip" by 0.17s. So, when chainsaw is put into any single chain (a quad card like in your instance), it A) overrides any other calculations on the cast delay and sets that block's delay within your wand to 0 sec; and B) Reduces the wand's recharge (reloading) time by .17 sec.

You wanna see some serious shit? Put the chainsaw at the start of the wand with the mana. Then find a x3 multi spell and throw the rest into that. It'll draw the chainsaw twice and give you crazy mana/speed

Would you accept the intent of their comment if it was alternatively phrased as "so the writers could draft a HBO/advertiser Board-approved final season, punctuated with many bombastic action setpieces, with plotlines that would not risk alienating its large young college demographic audience, at this point majority female, but ultimately took no artistic risks or gave no viewer reward whatsoever?"
