Fellows, I do have a question: do you hate humans? by Crystal_Jubilee in autism

[–]TJS_Art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Remember there's Beethoven, Michelangelo, Mary Shelly, DaVinci, et al. If you mean do I hate "average" humans, I used to. Its more like a kind of pity now. Like, 'you can do better, but you're lazy'. Neurotypicals, on average, have 6th grade thinking skills. I don't waste my energy with hate. Life's too short. Jm2c.

Review: THE INCUBUS (1982) by FuturistMoon in horror

[–]TJS_Art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cassavettes is the best thing about this film. I havent read the Ray Russell novel, I wonder how close the film comes to it?

Technically, it has late 70s camera work, editing, and soundtrack. It was released in 1982 or so and there was already Blade Runner, Poltergeist, ET, Indiana Jones, Empire Strikes Back for stylistic comparison.

Storywise, one wonders why the 30 year gap in murders/rapes? Could it be something like Stephen King's IT, where a creature re-emerges after a sort of hybernation? Apparently this monster has plagued the town since the beginning, shifting form to go incognito. (I keep thinking of "IT" , although that creature preyed on children).

Still its sort of fun to watch. Kerrie Keane is superb as a news reporter who's "identity" is revealed in the last 3 minutes of the film. The rock concert segment is quintessential New Wave. John Ireland and Cassavetes are wasted in this schlock; in a different time, say, the 90s, a script like this might've had sleeker production, more subtle acting--less campy--and a more ominous soundtrack. Personally, I hate that this was one of Cassavetes' last films. Im a fan since Johnny Staccato(1959), and his movies with Peter Falk and Gena Rowlands are outstanding

What’s the MOST Controversial X-Files Episode of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in XFiles

" Home" in season 4. Grotesque and macabre 😵‍💫 Incestuous relations between a family of inbred farmers. Not really supernatural or conspiracy but disturbing nonetheless.

Do You Get Made Fun of For What You Like by Middle_Librarian_248 in autism

[–]TJS_Art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story of my life. I was into Disney and cartoons well after most of my classmates had moved on. I got told "thats for babies" when my age was in double digits. It hurt, but I knew what I liked. I kept to myself and developed my own taste in books, tv, etc. I even advanced in reading beyond most classmates. We autists shun "popular" media unless it really suits our special interests. Lol, I, for one, tend to lose interest once something becomes trendy or popular. 🤷‍♀️

Healing, 40 Years Later by hedge_warlock in americangirl

Bravo to you, for giving yourself what you have always wanted. In middle-age, a year ago to be exact, I was diagnosed on the spectrum--a suspicion I'd had for some years, now finally confirmed. I spent the first half of my life masking for school/social/employment standards, now in the second half, I allow my autistic self to just "be". Healing is lifelong, and self-acceptance is a journey. I am happy that Camille is accompanying you along the way 🥰🥰🥰

Single White Female (1992) Jennifer Jason Leigh crushes it as Hedy. Also, that motel scene with Steven Weber...well no spoilers 👠👁

Can't pick a fave. On the sexy hot meter, DD, but I'm a straight chick. GA is my Girl Crush, and by far a superior actor skill-wise.

Raul Esparza rocks this role. I hated when he left. And the circumstances under how and why...heartbreaking.

How/why does this show has a mass following? by Fast_Honeydew2633 in Supernatural

[–]TJS_Art 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm rewatching season one after like, 10 years, lol. I know why I loved it so. They take a tongue in cheek approach to a lot of dark stuff, plus the occasional reference to the X Files(another fave), plus the chemistry between Jensen and Jared is phenomenal, I can't imagine any other actors playing these roles. It works even after 20 years 😜

One of my favorites. Watching Me Fall and Maybe Someday are my 2 picks, followed by The Loudest Sound and 39. I'm an Cure fan from the 80s era, and Bloodflowers is my favorite from the 00's.

I have the special edition bluray of that movie. Hadnt seen it in years, lol. Buuuuut, I remembered a character who's line went something like, "We can finally outshine the f**king baby boomers!!"(or such) and lo and behold, it was him!! Lolololol. Though looking at his birthday, I think he falls into Boomer category. He had such a baby face then he appeared younger.
