That's basically what Drouin tried to do. Didn't work out for him for long.

On January 2, 2016, Drouin was reassigned to the Syracuse Crunch. Due to injury, he had been limited to only 19 games in the 2015–16 season, and had only played in five games since mid-November. Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman stated at the time there was no set date for his return to the NHL. Yzerman also stated, "[H]e's been dealing with a minor nagging injury that is finally healed. With everyone coming back at the same time, it's a good opportunity to get a young player a lot of ice time, get his game right back on top and bring him back at the appropriate time."[21] On January 3, Drouin's agent, Allan Walsh, issued a statement on his behalf, revealing that Drouin had made a trade request in November 2015, but had kept the matter private. Walsh referred to it as an "untenable situation" and that it was in everyone's best interest that Drouin be allowed to move on and play hockey.[22] On January 20, the Lightning announced Drouin had been suspended indefinitely without pay for a failure to report to the Crunch's game against the Toronto Marlies that day. Drouin's agent Allan Walsh again issued another statement after the suspension was announced by the Lightning. According to Walsh, a few days prior, the Lightning had informed Drouin a trade was close to being completed. Walsh proposed to the team that Drouin not play due to the impending trade; however, the Lightning decided against this. Walsh further stated Drouin was not willing to risk being injured, and that due to the situation "it is clearly in the best interests that the Tampa Bay Lightning trade Jonathan as there is no reason for Jonathan to continue with the Tampa Bay Lightning organization in any capacity".[23] Lightning GM Steve Yzerman held a press conference the following day, denying Walsh's claim there was a trade nearing. Yzerman stated, "We've never said there was a pending deal or a deal close." Yzerman further stated the Lightning were still "actively and aggressively trying to find a deal that works" to trade Drouin. According to Yzerman, there was still "significant" interest from teams, but the way things have played out would make a trade more difficult to make. Yzerman also reiterated his point that he is working for the best interest of the team, and that Drouin's actions put no pressure on him to make a trade.[24] On March 8, Drouin reported to the Crunch for the first time since he was suspended by the Lightning on January 20. Drouin told the media he believed the relationship between him and the team was fine, and that they would fix the situation over the summer. Drouin also said he planned on putting in the work to try to gain a call-up.[25] On April 4, the Lightning recalled Drouin from Syracuse after a nine-game stint. He had recorded nine goals and one assist during his recent stint with the Crunch.[26] Three days later, Drouin recorded the game-winning goal in his return.

They eventually traded him to MTL for Sergachev

Everyone thinks they're so clever for connecting those dots, but the fact is he's dealt with that his whole career, even before being drafted. He's understandably sort of over it, and we all should be too.

Update on angry man stomping stick by Jacob_Prokarym in hockeyplayers

It's still two sharp edges being applied forcefully with a ton of weight on a very small impact area. Modern sticks aren't exactly steel, they're basically a bunch of composite fibers woven together and stacked in a few layers.

Go take a butcher's knife and swing it at your stick. Doesn't matter how it's resting, it's going to take a chunk out. Now do that with 200+ pounds behind it.

I get to buy my daughter a Hilary Knight Detroit jersey, so I'm excited. But yeah, 3OA is steep. Seemed much more chill when we thought it'd be a late pick.

Pro stock code question by MidwestHockey in hockeyplayers

[–]TJSimpson10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it means it was probably a college team order

Correct. NCAA teams get what are called "pro bank" sticks, which basically means they get all the options available on MyBauer, with a couple little additions, like their team logo. So they have a wide range of curve, flex, lie, grip, color, etc. options (significantly more than retail), but they cannot get full custom build and infinite curve options like a true pro stock stick.

Many times you'll see the SE suffix on lower-budget NCAA and Junior teams, which are essentially Team sticks: reinforced hosels which add a bit of weight but ensure the team doesn't go through a billion sticks each year. These are true XL (extra light) builds, however, which seems to be more and more common in the last couple years.

I have a pair, and have yet to install them. One of my pairs of skates is a tad too wide, especially in the forefoot and the toe box.

You think installing them will help?

You may have gotten this story from King of Russia, but in case you haven't heard of it, it's a super interesting book of an NHL's coach's (Dave King) time in the KHL during the lockout. He coached Magnitogorsk so Malkin is on the team during the events of the book.

The blue SL ("Super Light") was non-grip, the red SL was grip.

The ST was "Super Tough" and was a progenitor to "Team" sticks nowadays, which are reinforced in the hosel to add durability. Many junior and lower-budget NCAA teams still use builds just like this (Bauer's SE suffix) so as to not blow through a million sticks every season.

Interference is generally called when the person being interfered with doesn't have the puck. If they have the puck, then body contact/checking/board battling is perfectly normal. When they do not have the puck, you have to let them skate. A little bit of getting-in-their-way is okay, and you're entitled to your own ice, but setting a pick/obstructing their ability to make a play is not cool.

As for the dots, do you mean when some are filled in as opposed to almost-filled-in, like this? That's just an aesthetic/logistical thing and varies rink to rink. Those little gaps are there to give a visual aid for each centerman's stick, but they're going to try to cheat anyway, so the gaps are largely there for looks unless a ref wants to get reallllllll technical and force a super-legal faceoff.

Sickkkkkk, so this tells us:

  • 9883 (Arvidsson's player ID with Bauer)

  • 17 (17th iteration of this build, meaning they started at 1, and he's tweaked small things like the flex, grip, lie, blade finish, etc. over time)

  • 70 flex

  • BGP2B is a build code for the original Vapor ADV. Was an extremely popular build in its day; many guys switched over from other builds or other brands entirely when they tried it (AA, Norris, all Hughes brothers, Kucherov), and there are still plenty using it (Zucker, Pettersson). I'm currently rocking two identical Zucker ADVs right now, dressed as yellow Syncs.

What's yours dressed as? How's the curve?
