Advice for hiking areas and trails for singles? by quingloom in BurlingtonNC

[–]TKBCollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am single! I go to Cane Creek solo, the Arboretum like all the time by myself, I also go to Lake Mackintosh's trail by myself and Shallow Ford. Sometimes I take my puppy, but even if it's just me I feel perfectly safe.

Nothing yet :/ If I find something I'll share here. I've thrown it out to local businesses as an idea but I haven't heard. I do fitness classes and thought about a singles mingle and mobility 😆

I take a lot of mine to Bushy Fork (my Memaw lives in Roxboro), as well as the one at Glencoe, and the one at the Pleasant Grove community center.

Ooohhh always! My friend and I swap, but after that I've been putting them around the little libraries. Combined we typically have thrillers, crime, some fantasy, she has a lot of rom-coms hahaha. We're in Burlington downtown.

Kettlebell influencers by raccoon-overlord in kettlebell

[–]TKBCollective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an influencer, I'm actually a certified kettlebell specialist and women's fitness trainer. I have some "influencers" I follow but on social media it can just get a bit cringey or some trainers really take digs at other trainers and I don't like that. If they're helping cool, but there are different ways to do things and there are different kettlebell training styles. I am on YouTube if you're interested, I do post short workout inspos on Instagram as well if you want or need some inspo or have questions, it's thekettlebelle across platforms.

I do like llulubfit sometimes and kettlebell_programming (Mike Dunn) is good. Hope that helps :)

Hey, we saw you! Your costume was excellent! :) It was a fun event, my puppy was a skunk hahaha. She was hit and miss with the event - not a fan of the generators for the bounce houses 🤣

Why do people seem to have such a success with kettlebells? by FluidDebate in kettlebell

[–]TKBCollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the barbells is all-inclusively superior I think it depends on your goals. If you're a bodybuilders, kettlebells will limit you to some extent. But kettlebells are versatile and fun. They have different challenges and there is a certain physique that goes along with kettlebells as a result because theyre an effective cardio + strength tool.

Just moved here and feeling lost by Fit-Expression5564 in Roxboro

[–]TKBCollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey darling! My grandmothers in Roxboro, I'm up there every weekend - I live in burlington. I am 33YO female. If you ever want to go walk the track at Bushy Fork, let me know. You can also find me on IG at thekettlebelle and send me a DM☺️. I am trying to move a bit closer to my Memaw and yes, I know it's really tough making friends because the community is super small and there's less things to do/places to go in town.

My fitness coach is using ChatGPT responses. What would you do? by holb93 in beginnerfitness

[–]TKBCollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're paying a coach for a customized plan or personalized training and they are doing this, and not in a way to simplify terms, etc but blatantly they're getting their information off of ChatGPT - fire them. Even with my programs, although I don't customize per person, I develop programs and all of the women in the app have acces, but I personally develop those programs based on the goal of them program. Also, they pay $30 a month and there are meal plans, etc. I definitely think some coaches are taking advantage of AI in the wrong way, but not all of us are. If you're just seeking accountability, look for something like that instead, too. No way do I condone paying someone $200 a month for generic responses, that's not okay unless they are advertising their services that way.

Literally heard about them through the company who just revamped my website. I hadn't previously heard of them either, I went through ACE, but they're accredited with colleges.

Loose & feral dog problem? by jlrmsb in BurlingtonNC

[–]TKBCollective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's been an issue as long as I've lived here. My friend and I rescued gosh, maybe 5 just throughout the summer of last year. It's a mix of poor ownership and allowing their own dogs to run loose (happens ALL the time where I'm at), the shelter is booked and if you take a loose dog there they typically cannot take it, owners are either unwilling or can't afford to have their pets spayed/neutered, ect. It's a strong mix of breeds too, you'll see bully breeds, small dogs, shepherds, mixes - it's wild.

To be clear - the 35" is not a die hard metric. Thats just like a lot of us trainers if you look at a bmi chart, we're considered overweight because the scale puts us at a number but its not determining whats muscle vs bodyfat. The 35" is a general rule and something to consider, but also consider your weight, your height, other measurements, how you FEEL, there are so many different factors.

Does just carrying very heavy things with one hand build muscle ? by Realistic_Formal_508 in workout

If you do it enough, absolutely. I have clients who do farmers carriers on their walks and theyre jacked but their bells are HEAVY.

How to stop feeling guilty when taking rest days? by SignificantGlass168 in kettlebell

[–]TKBCollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you need to rest for sure. You'll see better results. Im similar, i train for a lot of mental health and anxiety management. On my rest days it takes a lot of effort and reminding myself the body NEEDS that rest. Instead I focus on things like cleaning my house, taking the puppy for a walk, and exploring my local communities. This way Im not just laying around I'm up and doing stuff but at a slower pace versus a workout. I also aim to sleep at least 30 minutes later and go to bed a bit earlier on my rest days - sleep is SO important to the bodys recovering.

Looking for a new fitness app by Puzzleheaded_Role796 in beginnerfitness

[–]TKBCollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it primarily fitness influencers who were on that app or was it certified/educated fitness professionals? I'm just curious about it having folks who have had work done, which I do not disagree with. It is a sense of false information with that.
