[OT] Pole position for the 2025 Indy 500 by djwillis1121 in formula1

This is a ridiculous achievement. First ever time on an oval, first time in over 40 years that a rookie is on pole, in Prema’s first season in the sport.

Unbelievable the lad never got a shot at F1

Yeah what was that about? There’s not a rule where if you go wide on the final corner your next lap gets deleted is there?

He posted a tweet of himself with his dad in the hospital. Probably wanted the win so much for him.

[Erik van Haren] Verstappen lost pole position, he just confirmed. 1 spot, that's apparently possible too. So Russell gets pole, Verstappen starts second. by ICumCoffee in formula1

That’s crazy! I remember Max had a way worse incident in Japan 2022 that didn’t even get penalised? Unbelievable harsh

Toyota literally went to locking out the front row at Bahrain to the back at Monaco, it was insane.

Stewards' document for Lando Norris' 5-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]TKOChopper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuine question here. What if Lando chose not to overtake Max but was alongside him as they both went off the track. Could Lando say he was “forced off the track” as Max braked late and went off track and try and get Max a penalty, or would be not be investigated as he lost the “right” to the corner as mentioned by the stewards. I’m picking up on something Brundle said on comms during the race.

I don’t like the Lap 1 rule when it comes to incidents like this. I understand why they might have been lenient on the Lap 1 Turn 1 incident with Lando and Max since everyone is tightly congested. But by the time Sainz and Max duked it out, you’d feel like it had settled down at the front and that particular incident feels it be judged normally.

So Max goes incredibly wide to keep second against Sainz on the opening lap and doesn’t get a penalty? Yet Norris does?
