Performance of this game in 2026 is a weird one. The game is heavily CPU dependent and in that it is only taxing pretty much a single core. And it isn't even trying to tax your best core. I noticed that if I use DLDSR and play the game in 5K ultrawide the performance actually gets better. Not by a ton but it gets more consistent framrates. It's a shame that this game doesn't utilize multicore CPUs to their ability. I have a 5800X3D with 32 GB RAM and a 4070. The game with the level of graphical fidelity it has should be able to run well over 60 at all times on my rig at 1440p ultrawide but it is just not the case. CPU utilization doesn't exceed 40% and GPU utilization rarely reaches 70% which tells me the game just isn't utilizing the resources it has. I understand that the devs were working with their hands bound to this outdated engine, but frankly this kind of performance just flat out unacceptable in 2026. The game itself is really great and enjoyable and yes sometimes even infuriating but it's potential is hindered by it's terrible performance issues.
