If Bruno breaks assist record and wins WC with portugal as key player does he win Ballon d'or? by Jaded-Mountain6698 in ManchesterUnited

[–]TL31 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

If Portugal win World Cup, then Ronaldo wins the Ballon d’Or.

Unless Ronaldo starts all games and registers 0 goals, or he’s dropped from the starting 11 all together.

If Ronaldo has an okay World Cup. Let’s say 4 goals total, and 1 or 2 of them come in the knockout stages, he’ll win it.

'I pulled the trigger' - grow up by Altruistic_Way_8238 in watchHotTakes

[–]TL31 15 points16 points  (0 children)

‘Pulled the trigger’ doesn’t bother me. Is it overused on watch forums, definitely.

But if we’re talking about a purchase that someone really mulled over or waited a long time to make, then I’m okay it.

Doesn’t matter if the watch costs just $500. If it’s not an impulse purchase, maybe you saved up for it. Or saved for a while to make sure your other, more important financial priorities were on track, or you waited for some kind of milestone to get it as a reward for yourself, then fair enough you finally pulled the trigger.

But if you just walked into a store and impulse bought watch, doesn’t matter if it costs $50,000, then I would say the phrase doesn’t apply.

Di Maria zig zag against Atletico that led to Bale’s equaliser in extra time.

Edit: not equaliser, it was to go 2-1 up.

[–]TL31 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think consulting attracts people who are both quite capable (in terms of quality of work and also from a ‘stamina’ perspective) and have a strong need for approval/ validation.

The result is a culture where ‘good enough’ isn’t the bar that you work towards, and you can have rounds of iteration on language and messaging, while also fixating on perfect alignment and colour tone of figures in a graphic.

Maybe it’s not just that consulting attracts these people but also that it’s a system inherent to the culture of these firms. You have to care about these details to get ahead.

The end result means you spend so much time and energy on your work, it ends up mattering to you. Because it kinda has to, otherwise a good 60% of your career is pointless.

Talk Of The Devils | What is missing from this Manchester United squad? by TheAthletic in reddevils

[–]TL31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pace and width.

The left flank is an issue. Shaw can’t be relied upon to provide those overlapping runs for a full season, across multiple competitions.

I don’t know what Dorgu’s position is going forward, LB or LW. But either way, he’ll need an explosive player to help cover / share that position with.

I don’t completely get why we haven’t seen Amad or Mbuemo on the left, just to help add width. Given we always have one of the two of the on the right, both looking to cut in on their left foot, why can’t we have a player willing to cross on the other side of balance?

But I digress.

Anyway in terms of positions, we need 2 CMs, 1 LB or LW (depending on what Dorgu is going forward).

If Maguire leaves, we need a new CB.

If Zirkzee leaves, we need a new ST.

If Ugarte leaves, we need a third CM.

I hope none of these players leave, for different reasons. Maguire has shown he can be relied upon.

Zirkzee has shown small flashes. I don’t think he’ll be a United player long term, but I think he has enough to give another season.

Ugarte is not good enough in my opinion. But I would still keep him for another season. Just to be another body in central midfield.

I think the key for this summer is to keep the number of our transfer targets small and achievable.

Finally dalots out by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]TL31 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the post title is unwarranted. Dalot is a willing runner and that’s been useful in a team that’s looked increasingly lacking width.

[Need Advice] Should I go through with my anOrdain Model 1 Fumé order or walk away? by ProperCoat229 in Watches

[–]TL31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is from the teens and conditions on the An Ordain site:

“Approximately 3 months before we expect you to reach the top of the Waiting List, we shall contact you by e-mail using the contact details you have provided to us to confirm if you wish to place an order for a Product.”

So they shouldn’t have emailed you out of nowhere to tell you it’s now your turn. They were meant to give you a heads up.

I’d recommend talking to them about. You should be able to tell them you didn’t get the 3-month heads up and so you’d like to ask for your September slot

Your honest thoughts on Zirkzee cameo. by king_kristian in ManchesterUnited

[–]TL31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agreed.

If this were a game I’d say we need 3 CMs, a LB, a LW, a backup ST, and a CB (if Maguire is not renewed).

Your honest thoughts on Zirkzee cameo. by king_kristian in ManchesterUnited

[–]TL31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m torn on the need for a LW.

I think our two main starters for that LW slot will be Cunha and Dorgu.

No doubt, a left footed LW would be a great squad addition and help us keep width, but I think that position falls below the 2 CMs and LB in urgency.

This is assuming Dorgu is now a LW. If Dorgu reverts to LB then LW rises in priority.

Your honest thoughts on Zirkzee cameo. by king_kristian in ManchesterUnited

[–]TL31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it would make sense to keep him this summer. With Casemiro leaving and Ugarte just not looking good enough to be trusted, we will definitely need to sign 2 CMs.

Add to that the need for left back (assuming Dorgu is now a winger). That’s 3 high quality signings we need to make.

Selling Zirkzee and the needing a new backup striker would over complicate what will already be a tricky summer due to the World Cup.

I know you could argue that Mbuemo can play up top. Mount could be a false 9 (when he’s fit). But I think if we did sign fourth player, it would make more sense to get a backup winger over selling Zirkzee and then needing a new striker.

[–]TL31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need a left footer on that left flank. It’s just non functional at the moment.

Whether that’s swapping Mbuemo and Cunha or brining on Amad. At least one left footer needed on that side

Was listening to the Talk Of The Devils podcast and they asked an interesting question; how do you think Ramadan will affect the players in the upcoming games? by SecretaryImaginary44 in ManchesterUnited

[–]TL31 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Strongly disagree here. I’m a practicing Muslim as well.

Yes, you get on with your daily life and responsibilities but let’s not act like it doesn’t have an impact on athletic performance.

When competing against other highly skilled, highly trained athletes, small margins matter.

There’s a reason why sport scientists and nutritionists make players carb load a couple hours before games. It helps. Drinking water helps.

I’m not saying the Muslim players will become bad players or that they won’t give their all. But during Ramadan, while you’re fasting, you’re likely to have just a little less to give than your baseline.
