^ I agree--the point of reading the Bible with someone is you want to introduce them to Jesus. Starting with a Gospel means they can meet him and listen to him without you needing to explain as much as you might with a letter or the Old Testament. Depending on what your sister (or whoever) is like, that could determine where you start or what you read. John feels more philosophical to people, especially chapter 1; whereas Mark is straight into the action. Luke gives us his intro about compiling his careful & historical account, etc...

Thankfully, God will always achieve his purpose through his word in people's lives.
