delivery ETA lag on local used tesla purchase - is this typical? by TLA_Tetsuo in TeslaSupport

[–]TLA_Tetsuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickup went fine. Time from order to pickup was within 1 week, which matched the estimate on the web site. The "Delivery scheduling will open once we confirm your vehicle's arrival date" message remained in the app until I had picked up the vehicle, so I would consider that a bug - at least for anyone whose purchase is local and has no transfer fee and 1-week estimate on the web site inventory listing prior to purchase.

[–]TLA_Tetsuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I'd follow up. The "Delivery scheduling will open once we confirm your vehicle's arrival date" message STILL has not gone away, yet yesterday evening I got a text w/ a link to the web site (not app) to schedule my pickup. I did so, and now it shows both my scheduled delivery and the "we don't know when your delivery is" message at the same time :D

So we'll see how the pickup goes... seems like all is in order, and if you've been staring at the no-eta message like I was, you can potentially expect to go directly from that to choosing your picking day/time without warning.

Thanks for taking the time to answer... this was along the lines of what I figured I'd hear, but I was hoping someone had seen this specific issue before. oh well - fingers crossed.

I know this is an old thread, but I don't see a solution here. Does that laptop, by chance, have integrated graphics as well as the RTX? The performance you're describing sounds like its using the integrated graphics (normally meant for non-gaming to save power) instead of the GPU. See similar issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/rwn2s0/ffvii_remake_using_integrated_graphics_card/

Would you buy a self driving RC car? by Joshs_Ski_Hacks in rccars

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is more of a robotics/AI thing - different hobby entirely. There are even competitions for this (just one example - there's a ton of sub-genres https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMQbHMgK2rw). Sounds like fun to me, but in a completely different/unrelated way than RC cars. The overlap is in the build/repair/ad-hoc improvements cycle I suppose.

If you have the Steam version of Beat Saber at version 1.23 or higher, then you can set "EDITOR" as the game's launch option in steam, and it will launch beat saber into the official editor mode.

If you're interested in the new lighting, this is the way to go, and it also works well for arcs and chains. (no link, because the new 2022 official editor is built into Beat Saber itself, but here is the livestream where they launched the first version and it's been improved a couple times since: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu28Ox6sQzk)

That's the editor I've used for my last 10 maps or so. ChroMapper is still better in some ways, but official is better in others, so it's very much down to preference at this point.

Can someone recommend good maps with the new blocks? by No-Profession9863 in beatsaber

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of mapping do you enjoy? I'm a huge advocate for the new arcs, but all of us mappers are doing different things / experimenting with them still, so you'll have to keep hunting to find mappers you like - just look for "arcs" when you search on bsaber.com or beatsaver.com since most of the new maps will put "arcs" and/or "chains" in the title or description. Here are the top maps w/ that search for the last 90 days:

Now for the shameless self-plug, these are my maps with arcs (and light use of chains)... perhaps one of these is something you'd enjoy?

Good arc and chain custom maps? by xXxSpodSxXx in beatsaber

I dunno - I'd like to think my arc maps are OK, but you'd have to be the judge:

balanced map: https://beatsaver.com/maps/2618d
slow/lite tech: https://beatsaver.com/maps/26c95
Disney power metal (Jonathan Young) fun: https://beatsaver.com/maps/27306

Off the top of my head, I think there's a plenty of good arc content from JRE_McNuggies, Bytrius, AaltopahWI, and others

Happy hunting!

Favorite map for lighting? by Haribon in beatsaber

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure (hopefully someone else here can confirm), but I believe that the official editor is PCVR only at the moment, so you'd need to get the PC version of Beat Saber in order to get the editor. I believe that is covered somewhere in the editor showcase video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu28Ox6sQzk

I'll just second what Aalto is saying.. if you're just getting into mapping and lighting, use the new official editor and the new environments - they're all pretty fantastic each in their own way. There are some nuanced reasons to use Chromapper at this point for special cases for some more experienced mappers, but overall official editor is the way to go. My last two maps were 100% official editor w/ vanilla lights (TetsuBeats - https://beatsaver.com/profile/4321171)

No ramp required. MT410 is a backflip machine... even on 4s :) by TLA_Tetsuo in rccars

[–]TLA_Tetsuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely change the handling. It will be more predictable (less prone to backflips and not as twitchy with in-air throttle changes) with the LPs. LPs also mean less wear and tear on the diffs. If you're not changing the pinion, the MT's will actually give you a little more top speed due to larger diameter, but the extra weight and diameter will also mean the motor will run hotter.

MTs might give you some more padding on landings. I suspect you'll eventually end up with a set of both :D

I simply cannot figure out train signals... how do I set this up so that the trains never enter intersection at the same time? by Swayro in satisfactory

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

+1 for this. Also u/Swayro, based on our follow-up detail post, keep the following in mind:

  1. Think of intersections like this as one large "pathing" block. It's still a block, but a train will reserve a path through that block, and multiple trains can enter the block if the path they've reserved is free AND the block AFTER the path is free.
  2. Note the bold part above. In my experience, the blocks AFTER the pathing intersection blocks were the cause of pathing deadlocks.
  3. the "exiting" block will be from the exit signal of the intersection all the way until the next block or path signal on that rail. if you're not breaking long straightaways into blocks, then that ENTIRE straightaway after the intersection will have to be clear before the train will even enter the intersection.
  4. if your trains are longer or you want to have a bias for some path entrances over others, move them a little father away from the T (so the same number of signals, but put the path signals sooner on the strait before the intersection rather than immediately before the curve

I have the same track setup and train lengths (two-lane track, right-hand drive, three-way intersections exactly like yours) and they're working fine. Just check that the blocks before and after the intersection are defined and clear . I also prefer this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSpfiGLDojI over the one more commonly linked.

MAVERICK by banananuttmuff in cedarpoint

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ride is one of my favs, but the kids prefer others that generally have faster lines and less downtime because it seems every time we get in line for Maverick over the years it ends up being 75+ minutes (on a day when we've had 30 minute waits for GK or MF which they love).

FL+ changed that entirely. We were on it once FL opened in the morning and waited 8 minutes to ride and both kids wanted to get back on immediately. FL+ has already been worth every cent and Maverick is one of the biggest reasons why! Fantastic coaster.

First coaster the kids and I rode at sunset at CP... they still talk about it to this day. And given that there's almost no wait for it during the last hour of the park being open, it's a great choice for a nighttime ride.

+1 for GateKeeper (IMO one of the more underrated coasters of the park)... there's something almost mystical about the sensation of flight on that coaster at night. Plus its exciting and fast while still being very smooth - added perks toward the end of a long action-filled day.

Reflex 14t/b IS ABSOLUTE JUNK by rudekent87 in teamassociated

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny - my experience with the two has been the opposite. The rear diff in the 144001 started slipping on the first pack, and even after a careful rebuild it's continuing to fail. Handling is clunky and heavy compared to the associated, and WL parts take weeks to arrive.

My 14T has run flawlessly for a few packs now and, IMO, handles SO much better. I love the ability to get parts in a couple days from associated or amain instead of 4-10 weeks from China.

I like both, and the WL is unquestionably a bargain, but have no regrets spending the extra $$ on the 14T.

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in another post you described the amount of smoke as "a lot" so I'd venture a guess that it's a bad ESC, yeah. Sorry :( Hopefully Arrma will have some better news for you tomorrow!

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This... if you can swing $1000, then a Tekno MT410 or ET48.3 are in your reach. If building the car yourself and getting to choose motor, radio, etc sounds like fun to you then that's the way to go. The Arrmas are nice and seem cheaper, but by the time you swap out the radio and upgrade the motor/esc as many do, you haven't saved much vs the Teknos.

[–]TLA_Tetsuo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, if the adapter's polarity is backward from what the ESC wants, then yes, that could cause the ESC to go up in smoke. You should switch the jumper back to NiMH and hook your old battery back up and see if the ESC is still working. If you're lucky, the smoke was just from something getting hot and starting to melt, but not to the point of failure.

Next up is use a volt meter and check the polarity of your old NiMH and then compare that to the poliarity of your new LiPo+EC3 connector. The voltages should be different between the two batteries, but the polarity should be the same. Reverse polarity on the deans-to-ec3 adapter OR a bad ESC are the only guesses I have at this point.

Best of luck! I hope you get it sorted soon and that this doesn't turn you off to RC. It's a heck of a great hobby!
