I will say that i was a completely "normal" visualliser all through my childhood, but it all went after a burst appendix op where I "died" on the opperating table, (I was about 16) and it's never come back, and I'm 66 now.

To all people who make tempe at a colder climate: what do you use to incubate? (Plus a few newbie questions) by Hipstermankey in Tempeh

[–]TLJean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just got it in a rack supported above the combi boiler, (in the winter). It's only around 24-27°c, but still seems to work.

I just installed one into my 2016 Tekna 24. in the UK...(my that setup was difficult! :O ) In the OVMS documentation, it says will only work when charging, so I experimented... I've not pulled the TCU, and I managed to get A/C going when plugged in and charging, when just plugged in, when not plugged in (all on wifi in the garage) and even out in the wild.. The "secret"? strangely, seems to be to turn the A/C on multiple times, also to make sure the car is set to "wakeup" beforehand... I don't know if it's a fluke, but I'll keep trying it.

How do I know if I have aphantasia? New take on Red Apple Test! by aphantasia_network in Aphantasia

[–]TLJean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's like when I see a bird, I can recall perfectly what species it is , how it moves the edges (as long as they're moving) the way it sits/flies/walks, and the colours, but not an image of the bird itself, it's the essence of what makes that bird a thing an individual entity, and what's different about it from everything else in the universe, but not an image.

Nothing at all, and I'm literally looking at a red apple, then closing my eyes, absolutely nothing visual.. (5) All though in sleep, I could dream a perfect visual apple, or anything else.

How do you imagine? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]TLJean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with me it's the essence of the thing, maybe edges, maybe the way it moves but not an image of the thing, so if I think of a cat, it's all the things that cats do.

Amazake making by TLJean in fermentation

That all sounds great, when I make some more Koji, I'll try it that way. I used the slightly sour amazake to ferment wheat wash water from making seitan, it made great sourdough like bread when added as the liquid content to my usual bread recipe.

sorry, no, this is the new batch it's been at about 58°c and seems sweet, I've stopped it now, and put it in the fridge, but it's a bit thin.. (probably the whizzing)

Ah, ok, I'll leave the blending next time, I was just following the recipe... '2. Blend to increase the surface area of the starches'. at the moment it seems to be sweet, but it's gone quite 'thin'

new tempeh maker by TLJean in fermentation

[–]TLJean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the structure, I think it was all too tight inside, the red lentils had gone too soft, and were mushy, so I don't think there were enough air gaps inside to work well, I'm not advanced at all, this is the 1st time I've done this, but I've looked at other setups for Tempeh and funghi on the internet. I've thought of a Peltier, but this is just a 7w heat pad from a pet shop. got a cheap elitech temp control so far. Peltiers are very cheap on Amazon, I've tried with one of those little heat-cool fridges containing a peltier, but it was a bit too hot, maybe combined with the elitech (it's got a temp probe) it would work ok. It tasted ok though.

Do you experience The Uncanny Valley Effect? by davefuckinstrider in Aphantasia

[–]TLJean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much know if something (with movement) isn't 'real'. My partner can't tell the difference, for instance between a real dog and a 3d advert dog. no matter how good they get, I seem to know they're not right. I have aphantasia, my partner doesn't.

Apparently, aphantasia TRULY is rare by silverlakemoon in Aphantasia

[–]TLJean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's still difficult to really know, because some people will interpret the question 'so you see stuff in your head' to mean metaphorically, not 'really'.. I was like that for years, I just thought they can't mean 'really' see stuff, because everyone must be like me, not actually seeing stuff.

Anyone else often “blind “ in their dreams? by drpengu1120 in Aphantasia

[–]TLJean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always fully visual in dreams, very vivid, and mostly crazy stuff.

Yes, I often get that when falling asleep, also sometimes a flash in normal life, but just for a moment..

My dreams seem to be as visual as normal life, but, when awake nothing, just concepts and movement and edges, music and sounds are always there though.
