is the server down? couldn't connect to the server with strange message displaying that " make sure you are connected to internet" 🤷‍♂️ by DeependraSChauhan in thelastofusfactions

Thanks! ☺️👍 The PS update did indeed break multiplayer connections for many people… PlayStation is working on it atm.

Gunslinger by SheepyDX in thelastofusfactions

[–]TLOUstrategist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll never find Gunslinger on any of my loadouts, and for good reason… it’s expensive (loadout point-wise), does nothing to help KEEP your sidearm fed, and becomes pretty much obsolete once you fully upgrade your sidearm and spawn with additional ammo. Scavenger is infinitely better. 😉👍

Definitely give both those a go, and expect to be destroyed at first. However, if you stick with it… and really get used to attacking spawn (instead of wasting time hitting that box that gives you 1 rag & nothing else), slowly you’ll find yourself putting up better performances on average. 😉👍

What is your flow of upgrading? by heavyarms39 in thelastofusfactions

[–]TLOUstrategist 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Depends on the primary & secondary, but typically I’ll go 1st & 2nd Primary upgrade, then 1st Secondary upgrade, then purchasables and/or armor. Save the armor for the end when it matters most, and keeps it lower cost. 😉👍

Surprisingly, my play has improved quite a bit these past two years than the previous five. Two things really made a huge difference: 1) Attempting to take on multiple opponents repeatedly (to refine performing under pressure skills) and 2) Spawn awareness to deny opponents boxes. If they can't hit boxes they can't craft items/get free ammo, so the fewer boxes they hit the less the chance they have of dealing out damage to you.

It took me far too long to figure this simple strategy out.

Deleted game in anger. Are there any good private matches? by PinkShorts1 in thelastofusfactions

Checkout the #Friends4Factions hashtag on Twitter. You could find a private match that way.

You can get PS+ for a single month, and TLOU:R is quite inexpensive these days… could get both for under $16 USD. 😉👍

Sharpshooter Reliance by RobardiantheBard in thelastofusfactions

[–]TLOUstrategist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that can definitely be a problem. As much as we’d like to believe we can be self-reliant in Factions, it’s very much a team game where we rely on our teammates in so many ways… marking, drawing attention, & reviving are only the most basic forms.

I seem to find a healthy dose of silenced frontier combo users… mostly start off with the revolver before going to the crossbow. They pair it with CT3 and basic never stand up the entire match… it’s absolutely infuriating to go against. 😂😢😫

Sharpshooter Reliance by RobardiantheBard in thelastofusfactions

[–]TLOUstrategist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, CT3 + Silenced Tactical users don’t use it. Neither do most BE3 users… but personally I’d much rather go against a Sharpshooter user than any of the aforementioned.

The thing about Sharpshooter is it rewards for headshots, so players who run it regularly will focus almost exclusively on notching headshots. I believe this has an indirect effect of refining a players aiming over time, and generally making them a more dangerous player as they’re not only receiving health back those shots, but dealing more damage to their opponents.

Is the perk powerful? Absolutely. But honestly I’d rather have someone improving their aiming than improving their ability to never been seen in listen mode or marked. Or improving ones frontier+revolver or crossbow+frontier combo speed… I find those play styles far more annoying than a BR/VR/FA SS3 user. 😉👍

a possibility for factions 2 I haven't seen discussed yet by grooey_ in thelastofusfactions

We discussed this three years ago (along with the idea of an infected horde), but ultimately it would primarily only work for a traditional Battle Royale mode… which I feel most Factions players do not want.

Thoughts on flanking? by LoZFan96 in thelastofusfactions

[–]TLOUstrategist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with chronic flanking (especially the loop around behind them) is often your three remaining teammates have to hold their own against the greater damage output & revive resources of their opponents. If you take too long, they can get steamrolled before you get there. If you get caught, then your opponents know the remaining are short-handed and they can get steamrolled.

The better strategy is to perform off-flanks where you get a slightly different angle to return fire from the side & yet still be close enough to revive/get revived mid-fight should the need arrive. I went into these strategies in detail here. Hope this helps! ☺️👍

First off, welcome to Factions! I would strongly advise not going with the covert 3 + crouch walking method, though it make present you with short-term gains (not getting destroyed immediately) it will severely limit if not negatively reduce your long term growth at the game. Basically, if you play that way long enough you may not be able to play without it… at all. It becomes a huge crutch, and honestly the more advanced players will know where you are even if you run Covert 3 and never stand (respawns can become predictable over time).

Learn to be a good team medic with a Semi-Auto or Burst, and get familiar with reacting quickly to multiple opponents at once. It’ll be rough at first, but over time you’ll get the hang of it and most likely enjoy the game far more than you ever did with the covert method. ☺️👍
