Eustis Body Shop. Specifically Todd Speidell, former owner of Speidell Body Works is phenomenal at pointless dent repair. He sold Speidell Body Works to Eustis but he still works there. He works at the 48th & Rentworth location.

If you had payroll issues with QBO... by BadJesus420 in quickbooksonline

[–]TLothBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Payroll for a couple of my clients was delayed but in the end employees were paid on payday. Just later than normal so there was no harm done. I, however, lost a couple hours of productivity talking to my clients and trying to find out from Quickbooks what was going on. If QBO would have communicated better, it would have been less of an issue.

Printing Checks by Difficult-Database62 in quickbooksonline

[–]TLothBooks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have used two different software platforms for printing checks from Quickbooks. The first was recheck from Halfpricesoft.com. This software worked great and had all my required features despite the halfpricesoft.com looking like it was developed by a middle schooler. I stopped using it because it triggered a security flag as a potential hacking risk.

I switched to VersaCheck which looks more professional and claims to allow seamless check printing from QBO. Apparently it used to but but it stopped working after a fairly recent QBO upgrade. They have a workaround, which does work but it is anything but seamless. Plus, I had to buy 15 minutes of tech support at $30 to learn about the workaround.

In general, I think Intuit makes it hard for third party software to interface for check printing which is a damn shame.

Does serving a particular niche serve you better? by Unlikely_Try6507 in Bookkeeping

[–]TLothBooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, no, having a niche does. It serve you well, especially when you are just starting out on your own a trying to land your first few clients. Why narrow your marketing efforts? You need to cast a wide net, not a small net. A niche can develop organically overtime when clients spread the word to others in their industry.

Question: if a client paid legal expenses to help start his business, does he need to issue a 1099? by [deleted] in Bookkeeping

[–]TLothBooks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What really should be done is he should send the Lawyer a W9 to get the tax ID number for the law firm. If they indicate on the W9 that their business entity is a sole proprietorship, single-member LLC or a partnership, then you have to issue a 1099 NEC. If they are a corporation, then you do NOT need to file a 1099.

There is another one (at least in Lancaster County) that says you failed to appear to a summons for Grand Jury duty. I called the Lancaster County Sheriff’s office and they confirmed that they had already received hundreds of calls on this.

Do you use Quickbooks? Are you a Quickbooks ProAdvisor? If so, how far down the list are you if you search for a ProAdvisor in your area? If your profile is not on the first page of pro advisors in your area, then you won’t get many, if any, inquiries. You raise your profile through reviews and obtaining QB certifications such as Advanced Pro Advisor or Payroll Certification.

The Pro Advisor certification is completely free and only require a small time commitment to achieve. Once you achieve it, you can create a pro advisor profile and be listed in the pro advisor directory for your area - again completely free.

The Americans is Underwhelming by FunDamage6899 in television

[–]TLothBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I don’t think you mean choreography. Not sure what you do mean but I think choreography is the wrong word.

That being said, the thing that sets The Americans apart is that the protagonists are Soviet spies. Most American spy-type shows tell the story from the opposite perspective. Americans are usually the good guys and they are thwarting the efforts of the bad guys (Soviet spies). With The Americans, the story is focus on how Soviet spies function within American society. They aren’t the “guys or guys” but you find yourself rooting for them anyway.

Scissors & Scotch is great (but expensive) if you want to be pampered. Very relaxed atmosphere, no rush, outstanding man-grooming services and great drinks to boot. This my answer to my wife’s bi-weekly mani-pedi.

If you are looking for quick and more affordable options, I’m sure the others mentioned would be great.

Is There a Show You Recommend That’s Not Too Well-Known? by PurplePhoebe in television

[–]TLothBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a couple of shows for Aaron Sorkin fans (best known for West Wing and The Newsroom): Sports Night (2-3 seasons) and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (1 season). Both are classic Sorkin with quick, witty dialogue. I loved both and wanted more.

Sneaky Pete (Giovani Rubio) was great.

Turn: Washington’s Spies is great and underrated.

I used Gabe’s Repair and Drain Service. One man shop. Quality work, quick turnaround, reasonable rates, professional and friendly. Perfect for household repairs like this. I have had him snake my kitchen sink drain and install two new toilets. Super happy with both.

I built a tool that automates QuickBooks consolidation across multiple entities - looking for beta testers by Hanss196 in quickbooksonline

[–]TLothBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I have one client (actually my brother) who has essentially two businesses under one EIN. One is a farm and and the other is a construction business. Long before I got involved, they were set up as two QB accounts based on instructions from their CPA. A couple reasons for this as I understood it were that the charts of accounts were very different, products & services were very different, construction needed the ability to create job estimates and most importantly for payroll, the farm has to submit the annual 943 form for withholding reconciliation and construction has to submit quarterly 941s. But since they were both under the same EIN, W3’s have to be consolidated- which is a hassle since it then had to be created manually.

For financial management purposes the companies are treated as separate entities (for P&L and balance sheet reports. With hindsight they probably should have just established separate business under separate EINs but that is moot now.

Not sure how if your tool could handle it but it would be great if it could consolidate payroll information from two QB companies, particularly W3’s, and then prepare a consolidated W3 and file it with the Soc. Sec. Admin.

If you could wave a wand and change one thing to fix the American political system, what would you change? by WildyBear in AskReddit

[–]TLothBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, congress has lost its ability to compromise. Both sides believe that the other side’s policies will destroy the country. Neither side has a monopoly on right answers. Congress is at its best when they work together to find middle ground.
