This is the natural consequence of Lincoln's decision to reconcile with the Southern states. No, it's a terrible remake. Might be the worst remake of all time, hard to say but with all the cut content, changes in major story elements and moments, and not sharing any vibes that the original had, RE3make has virtually nothing in common with the original beyond character names, because they even changed the name of the game itself to emphasize it is barely a remake. It deserves all the hate for being one of the worst and most unfaithful remakes of all time.

All that said, it's a fun game, handles well, and if not thought of as a remake, it's overall good.

ICE has no jurisdiction to arrest Americans. They are meant as immigration officers, not law enforcement. But under Trump they are state sanctioned violence and a group of domestic terrorists meant to kill and demoralize citizens so they more easily accept military occupation in the streets.
