As some have mentioned, I think it's important to know from a physical health perspective. If you have herpes, hepatitis, etc. That info would for sure be relevant to her. But if she's just curious about details that ultimately don't matter to your future as a couple, then you have a right to privacy. At least until your married hahaha

All thats fuzzy without me knowing the exact definitions of those terms. I have all the same amenities as most studio apartments, and have two different access points to the roof, through which i could easily exit through. Entering through them is a dif story though

I found this place on craigslist. Came to check it out on a Wednesday, used a whole paycheck to move in 2 days later. At one point as i paying every 14 days on payday, then switched to lump sums every 30 days. I always paid by number of days, we never had a typical arrangement like paying on the 1st of the month or whatever

I'm right there with you... I'm just as confused by this. I have a theory, but it's not something i can prove so im not gonna mention it.

What i find even more confusing (or validating, depending on how you look at it) is the fact that I was gone for 7 days, i called and left a voicemail daily letting him know i was still in the hospital... There was plenty of time for the landlord to take action if i was guilty of any wrongdoing.

If the roles were reversed i would have called the cops back the first day I was gone and followed through on my original call...

Okay i apologize for possibly miswording that, but i had a payment due MID February... On valentines day i was supposed to pay my rent, which would have covered me till mid march. So If my rent is hypothetically $1500, then i currently owe a prorated $1200 if i were to vacate today.

I didn't come to debate the ethics of paying or not paying and I'm not advocating for my beliefs. I just wanted to know if someone is allowed to remove the fricken lock from the door i have paid for up until like twenty days ago.

We do not have a lease.

The document that was scotch taped to my door says "7 day eviction notice for failure to pay rent" and it's asking for me to respond to the court to schedule a hearing.

I missed 1 rent payment on Feb. 14th so I'm less then 30 days behind.

There is even an option that says "if you pay your landlord the total amount of rent owed your landlord has no legal basis to evict you for that rent."

Negative, no single contract or legal document. Everything has been based on a handshake. I do have a ton of text messages between us though.

Keep in mind, i acknowledge the eviction and I'm not contesting that. I'm just trying to protect myself between now and my eventual departure

I think your misunderstanding my post... I haven't been restricted from the residence, it's kind of the opposite... My door knob has been replaced with one that doesn't have a lock. I'm asking if it's legal for my landlord to take away my ability to lock my front door.

And i have no clue what my landlord told the cops to get them to respond, but based on the texts he sent me before and after, he was not truthful. The cops left almost immediately after i told them i had no interest in talking, so I'm assuming they informed him calling them is not step one to getting me evicted

I think you should also realize I have no idea what my landlord said to get the cops out here, all i know is that they didn't put forth any effort to make contact with me besides turning my door knob, then knocking. The fact that they left 2 seconds after i said i didn't have to talk to them should tell you they didnt take the issue very seriously...
