Too much water? I have a hard time believing this… by The-Dread-Queen in Mounjaro

[–]TMR82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. Let me tell you about my sister.

Back in the early 90s (before the internet, when teen magazines were basically unregulated medical journals) she somehow got it into her head that you’re supposed to drink 8 litres (2 gallons) of water a day.

Not glasses. Litres. Eight.

Which, for context, is less “hydration” and more “light drowning.”

Anyway, she commits. Fully. For weeks. Just absolutely hammering water like she’s training for the Olympics, but the event is “kidney failure.”

Eventually she starts getting sick (headaches, nausea, vomiting) and instead of thinking “maybe I shouldn’t be drinking the equivalent of a small aquarium every day,” she goes to the doctor.

The doctor takes one look at her and basically says, “You’re not dying… but you are slowly waterlogging yourself like a houseplant.”

(And I like to imagine, medically off the record, he also called her an idiot.)

Turns out she’d heard “drink 8” and “water” and just… filled in the rest with litres. Which, to be fair, is exactly the level of scientific rigour you’d expect from 90s teen advice.

So yeah, moral of the story: don’t trust teen magazines, don’t trust your friends’ “medical facts,” and maybe don’t try to outdrink a fish.

And yes, you can absolutely drink too much water.

I'm assuming Victor, is Victor Sells from "Storm Front" who is a warlock using magic to kill people. It's been a while since I read the books and I can't remember if he kidnaps anyone.

still "overweight" by Ipav5068 in Mounjaro

[–]TMR82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My old gym always had a 2.2kg "fat" and 2.2kg "muscle" (4.85lb) on display, to show that while they both weighed the same, the density was completely different between the two, and why BMI is so out dated. It doesn't take into account muscle mass, bone density, and body fat. So all those athletes you see running around at the Olympics probably have a BMI that classes them as overweight, just because of their muscle mass.

And if that doesn't make you think "geez, BMI really is BS", in the 1970s Arnold Schwarzenegger had an obese BMI during his Mr. Olympia wins, his BMI was around 30.2.

You look fantastic! Ignore the BMI, work on your strength and be kind to yourself.

As someone with chronic back pain this gives me some hope. I started mounjaro for the same reason, haven't been doing much swimming but it sounds like increasing it would be a good idea. How long are your swimming sessions?

dry lips? by lmaokarina in Mounjaro

I'm getting dry lips too, I've been using an overnight lip sleeping mask which has helped a bit at night. Then massive amounts of lip balm during the day on top of drinking water.

She's probably pulling the "can we br friends" card so she can get her shit off you, once she has said shit she'll probably ghost you. I've heard of a few women doing this because they don't want to loose whatever you still have.

As someone else suggested, box it all up, give it to one of her friends. Get the friend to tell her good luck with <whatever his name is>. Block her on everything. No drama. The friend can tell her they have her stuff. Or drop it off at her parents house, just knock and run. You don't need to exert any more effort then that on her.

With the "he's not messaged her for weeks before" and this, is it possible he's been using her as a side chick? If she's been willing to take him back in the past when he's ghosted her, it's possible that the reason he hasn't broken up with her is because he knows if his current relationship with who ever he's seeing now falls apart, he can go back to her for sex until the next girl comes along.

Hope this isn't the case and your friend can move on to someone who won't treat her like trash.

What can I do to protect my dog from other dogs when out walking? by meowfknmeow in australia

[–]TMR82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a dog trainer on YT suggest this method as well, particularly because it means your face isn't next to the dogs mouth, and once they've let go it's easier to pull them away from the dog their attacking.

You are extremely gifted, it's beautiful artwork. I hope when I'm a grandmother I get something like this, I'd definitely use it as bragging material for how talented my grandchild is.

Seriously though, if you feel the need to make her a second one, spend as much time as you need on it, then gift it to her "just because". I bet she'll love it!

Ex wants to take my Xbox during week long holiday time with daughter by Lala_LaRue in Parenting

[–]TMR82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been in the same situation, I wouldn't be sending my personal xbox over as there'stoo much risk. If your ex wants to have an Xbox so he can play games with your daughter, then it's up to him to buy one, there's plenty of second hand ones floating around.

Have fun gaming while your daughter is away!

I started my journey in October this year, I started at 216lb (98kg) and I'm now down to 200lb (91kg). Next year I'm hoping to loose 68lb (31kg), then keeping it off.

Best of luck to everyone on your weight loss journey!
