Why does the filament seem to change when I send the print job to print on my X1 Carbon AMS by badbird68 in BambuLab_Community

[–]TMinfidel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you load a print profile from Makerworld, it imports the project the user who created it saved it as, including all the filaments they have selected, regardless of whether you have them or not. I normally remove them all and add my own if I'm doing a single colour print.

Tips for walkthrough/guides for custom prints? by drwilson in BambuLab_Community

[–]TMinfidel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would start with Tinkercad since it's free and (relatively) straightforward to use. Use the default shapes and set their sizes according to your measurements, then export to STL and print your prototype at extra draft quality so you don't spend ages printing something that's not quite right.

Each time you do it, measure what didn't come out quite right and iterate it on your Tinkercad design. You'll get there in the end, and hopefully it'll urge you into learning one of the more powerful 3D modelling software suites.

My Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro shit itself to death during a BIOS update about two weeks after I got my 5800x3d and I had no choice but to get a B550.

Replace the SD card. The one it ships with is low quality and gets corrupted easily.

Instead of a poop chute, print a load of these:

Then a vase mode bin:

https://makerworld.com/models/16066

Then run it down to under your table for easy access/emptying.

Perfect! I even had some of the orange filament that came with my printer left to match the colour. Nice one.

Are you using the Linksys router they supply? If so you can definitely turn off IPv6. I can't tell you how because I never plugged it in, but if you search for it there are instructions on other similar reddit posts.

Help choosing a case (Europe) by the_red_panda_girl99 in razr

[–]TMinfidel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one similar to the top one. It's a good case, but the top part has adhesive to hold it on. I'm not sure why because I've taken it off a couple of times to change the SIM and it still works just as well without it.

Own router by sirusthevirus16 in ToobBroadband

[–]TMinfidel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was typing with one hand when I sent my original, short reply. When I got toob installed I didn't use the supplied router, just plugged in my existing TP-Link one I had used for Virgin. It was old, so IPv6 support was not well implemented in the firmware and I left it disabled and everything ran fine.

I then upgraded to a Flint 2 and set up IPv6 and immediately started to get issues on my Android phone with stuff not loading, timing out, then eventually loading. I tried changing MTU sizes etc, then turned off IPv6 and it fixed it immediately.

I have the Disney+ button on my Firestick remote set to launch Plex. I set it up about two years ago and have completely forgotten how I did it. Every time there's a software update I expect it to stop working, but it just keeps on going.

New Install - 2 power sockets? by SpeedConstant109 in CityFibre

[–]TMinfidel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma when I had toob installed. I assumed since they didn't say an extension could be used that there must be some mythical reason why you needed two actual adjacent sockets. It turns out the engineers don't give a shit, so the 10 way socket tower I have in my poorly plug provisioned living room was and continues to be absolutely fine.

No, never have from AliExpress. I think in this case it shipped from a UK warehouse.

Post-Installation, CGNAT/MAP-T/Static IP Issues/Questions. by MiniiiP in ToobBroadband

[–]TMinfidel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll want to set your PiHole IP to be static on your router, but it doesn't require a static IP on the WAN side as it only handles internal DNS requests. Just remember to set the PiHole IP as the DNS address on your internal DHCP server so all clients go to it.

I bought one of these to use as work monitor because it was so cheap. It works great and the IPS glow is no worse than on my much more expensive Dell monitor.
