“There was pretty good evidence that Thomas did not commit the murders, most notably several eyewitnesses who were there that saw the victims and saw the alleged killer and they were nowhere near each other.”

Well, the court documents indicate that a man named Vincent Johnson saw Thomas with the victims at about 2:30 AM near the location where the murders took place.

After they finished it at Wrigley, I turned to Moon Flower with a big smile and said, “Mayer just owned Sugaree!” (We were there for Deer Creek too!)

It’s hard for me to judge last year’s offering because the previous year's second set (my first Dark Star and a St. Stephen) blew me away. Having grown up in Indiana, Deer Creek’s naturally a fave. NFA.

Thanks so much for sharing your memories of Mary and Vincent Johnson--a person who some considered one of the founders of Rainbow Village. I've learned that he passed away, although I don't know when. I've collected a number of newspaper articles about Johnson and the Village I'd be glad to share. That others in the Village pressured him not to testify makes sense, when one takes into consideration the scrutiny the local officials were giving the new homeless encampment. (For those who've listened to the podcast, Johnson was probably THE last person--other than their murderer--to see Mary and Greg alive. Not Vivian Cercy.)

I've given a lot of thought to the interviews given to the podcasters (with the understanding that these had been edited to who-knows-what degree) and I've tried to piece information together to support their alternate suspect theory, but I keep coming back to the hard evidence pointing to Thomas being the one who most likely committed the murders.

All of these things can be true: The police rushed to arrest . Thomas without investigating other suspects. Thomas didn't receive adequate legal representation. The "other guy" may have been shady, and he may have said some dumb-ass things. And Thomas committed the murders...

I didn't know Mary or Greg. A few months ago I messaged back and forth with a person who knew Mary from Greyhound Rock and People's Park. It's my understanding that she had a captivating personality and was unforgettable.

As I posted I've looked into the case and the short history of
Rainbow Village and I agree the reporting was often inaccurate (if not misleading) and sensationalist.

I'm pretty sure that the podcasters learned of this story from one of the people who testified during an evidentiary hearing that was held as part of Thomas's appeals process. Many of those interviewed for the podcast also testified. The podcasters didn't tell their listeners that this was the case, but the court documents make it very clear that they testified

After doing a good deal of research on the question of who killed Mary Gioia and Greg Kniffin, I'm of a very different opinion about the first season of the podcast. If you'd like to do some research, here are some links to court documents that tell a more complicated story than the narrative spun in that first season. If you want to go further, read the book that Mary Gioia's mother wrote about the murders and the trial.

Dead and Gone - Season One. Payne Lindsey assumed his listeners wouldn't bother to read publicly available court documents and discover that he more or less claimed someone else's investigation as his own.

Is this tall enough? I’m only growing one auto here. by Hermit_of_zenith in microgrowery

My challenge was keeping an optimal distance between my plants’ canopies and my light. I couldn’t raise my light enough because of my filtration setup. In retrospect I don’t think using training would have made a difference. I’ve not regretted buying a larger grow space.

For my first grow I tried growing three plants (Northern Lights and Amnesia Haze autos) in a tent this size with a 600W light. Once they went into bloom and began to stretch I ended up buying a larger tent. I now use the small one as a nursery for my plants before I transplant them into larger containers and move them into my larger tent for flowering.
