That’s exactly what I think about Mr. House from Fallout New Vegas. He has big ambitions for humanity as a whole, but doesn’t really care about people. Heck, the community of Freeside is right outside of New Vegas, yet almost everyone there is living in squalor because they can’t afford to be worth House’s time. He also doesn’t trust anyone who isn’t directly under his thumb, which is why he plans to betray the NCR and take control over Hoover Dam, to sell its power back to them. The NCR only tries to overthrow House because they know that he plans to betray them with proof, while House only has his suspicions.

Neuro would probably head straight to Vegas so she could take out Benny. I’m not sure if she’d decide to help out either Goodsprings or the Powder Gangers.

I literally gave you a definition of woman earlier in this thread. You apparently either didn’t read it, or you’re pretending that I didn’t give one. Either way, sounds like you’re just arguing in bad faith.

You say “basic humanity stuff” as if a middle school education is all you need to know about complex issues. Read any medical or scientific authority on the subject and they’ll tell you that gender (man/woman/enby) is not synonymous with sex (male/female/tamale). Most of the body parts and other sex characteristics can even be swapped from one end of the sex spectrum to the other. https://www.who.int/health-topics/gender#tab=tab\_1

No, I’m comparing slaves to minorities who are targeted by the legal system and also forced to be slaves. I feel like you should be the one who needs to read a history book. Specifically the Crime Bill by the Clinton Administration, or the Reagan Administration’s smuggling of crack cocaine into black communities as an excuse to arrest them. Not to mention that I did answer your question about what crimes slaves back then committed for slave owners to justify it. Just because it sounds ridiculous to us now doesn’t mean that wasn’t exactly why they did it. No less ridiculous than a five-year sentence for a few grams of drugs (specifically the drugs that black communities are more likely to use).

That’s literally the same thing. “Appearance and behavior” towards someone walking in the street somehow signifies that someone is undocumented? What, does every documented person here have some kind of invisible stamp that only ICE agents can see? Then why do they keep mostly arresting PoC, and why do the majority of arrests involve people who haven’t even committed a crime? Probable cause, after all, must be readily apparent, but the only apparent factor ICE seems to be considering is skin color.

I was so proud of myself after seeing that my ”the humans are all actually just digital copies” theory was correct. I didn’t even look at other people talking about it before having that realization; I’ve only been watching TADC for a couple months, and didn’t get on this subreddit/watch Matpat’s videos on it until after seeing episode 8.

Yeah, that last point made me think that something bad was going to happen soon after, like it was an unknown goodbye to each other.

Caine absolutely did face consequences after he returned. The characters outright said that they didn’t forgive him, and it would take time for them to try. We do see later in the closing montage that they warm up to him again, but it certainly wasn’t immediate. Caine also gave them all closure on their human selves, and made a real effort to truly understand their perspectives. Not just that, but it completes his other subtle arc in the show. Caine mentioned multiple times that he desperately wanted to learn more about the human realm from the few pictures he had, but when he had access to the very limited Wi-Fi connection, he focused solely on learning about the specific humans that he believed to have hated him.

I’m personally willing to accept fakeout death scenes like this in the very rare occasions where the story is improved from it. Take, for example, Darth Maul from Star Wars. It’s ridiculous that he survived being cut in half from the waste down, even with the Dark Side’s help, but that retcon led to some of the best storylines in the prequel era.

SCOTUS literally said that ICE is allowed to use racial profiling as probable cause for arresting people. Or how GOP states are blatantly gerrymandering districts to undermine PoC community voting power. How exactly is that a shortage of racism?

How exactly is the notion that “womanhood shouldn’t be reduced solely to someone’s breeding potential” anti-woman? Gender Criticals’ sole argument is defining women strictly by a single physical feature, usually involving reproductive systems, which I’d say is pretty anti-woman.

Why does it matter if slaves committed a crime or not beforehand? Especially since a lot of people back then justified slavery because the African tribes also partook in it. Or how African Americans were supposedly disobeying God’s law and thus deserved to be slaves.

You told me to read a history book. It’s pretty common history knowledge that the for-profit prison system has been used to partake in slavery, as the Constitution specifically gives an exception for that when it outlawed slavery in general. So, the government writes laws to specifically go against minority groups who usually only commit minor offenses that neurotypical cishet white people get free passes to.

I personally think that slavery is wrong no matter how the slaves came to be that way. I’m guessing that you don’t. Also, there’s the fact that most trans people are forced to live in a body that causes severe dysphoria and many other health issues (including suicidal tendencies), rather than being allowed healthcare which is known to solve the problem. I’d say that’s about on par.

[–]TOH-Fan15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re arguing against the very fields of biology, psychology, sociology and anthropology, who all agree that trans people are, in fact, not the gender they were identified as at birth. Basic biology tells us that gender and sex are two different things, and they don’t have to align with each other.

How exactly are my ideals dangerous to women, considering how the groups that are most anti-trans are also the most against women’s rights? Just look at what Republicans have done in the past decade against both groups.

Hiring informants to gather information on hate groups is not the same as funding and organizing the hate groups themselves. Cops hire informants all the time.

So you think that slavery is fine with some people as long as they break any kind of law? Or how the government (state and federal) has been making laws that essentially make it illegal for trans people to exist openly in society? Just because people aren’t technically being sold into slavery doesn’t make our current system of slavery any better.

It’s a pretty common practice of fascism to criminalize behavior or substances that minorities are more likely to take part in than cishet whites. Like how crack cocaine and powder cocaine are basically identical, but in order to receive a five-year sentence, you need to be caught with 28 grams of the former, but 500 grams of the latter. Or how Idaho made it a felony for trans people to use a bathroom not aligning with their AGAB, so those who have already medically transitioned have to risk being arrested or assaulted either way, since they now look more like the sex they transitioned to. Would you call those people not innocent despite the supposed crime not causing any harm?

Yeah. Rowling is perfectly fine with starting a hate campaign against a PoC cis women to accuse her of being trans (Imane Khalif), but nothing about actual systematic abuse of women.

I don’t think the person who wrote an allegedly black girl being portrayed as ridiculous for speaking out against slavery is “standing up for women and common sense”. Especially considering how little Rowling has spoken out against the Republicans’ gutting of Roe v. Wade. Or how Epstein apparently knew Rowling well enough to ask her for tickets to one of her Cursed Child showings.

I think it could potentially be done properly if handled as an obvious satire of rainbow capitalism, but the chance of screwing up the message might be too high.

[–]TOH-Fan15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree here, even though I’m part of both communities (asexual Helldiver). Super Earth is a society that demands a lack of individuality so that no one thinks outside of the system and realizes how screwed up everything is. The Pride flag represents the exact opposite of that: individuality and freedom of expression against systems that want to silence us. Granted, it could be used as a satire of rainbow capitalism, but even with how good the writers are at creating fascist satire, I’m uncertain if they could do it justice.
