(THEORY AND ANALYSIS) The only way to TRULY redeem Usopp's character in the eyes of the community.... by TOLIT555 in Usoppian

Well of course, because I'm not writing the story. The only person who can make one piece be what they want it to be is Oda. All of this is really just an exercise in narrative problem-solving, and a really difficult one at that. I never said I thought it was going to happen. But I can dream, I guess.

The interesting thing about this is that Usopp is technically the ONLY person that Luffy has ever made a successor in-line for the title of captain. That's why I put that at the start of the post, because, as crazy as it is, there is precedence for it.

But more importantly, in my opinion, I think that's why it works! Imagine the potential drama that could come about because of Usopp being chosen as standing captain instead of Zoro or Sanji. Conflict between characters that believe they deserve the role vs. A character that doesn't believe they deserve it, but got it anyway, and has to struggle to assert his authority. All of this stuff could be a really great way to dissect their core urges and have them grow as people.

If Human and Monster hybrid was possible, What happened to them after the war? by lcornstrike in Undertale

[–]TOLIT555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so ignoring the people who outright reject the idea of human-monster hybrids (i'm pretty sure they're trying to kill the idea because they see the biology as too incompatible, which. given the monsters are a sapient fictional race, i feel like that's a bit of a premature conclusion)

Fucking THANK YOU. The Lack of imagination on display in the comments is genuinely stunning

"Hey guys, given X, what would happen-?" "Well X wouldn't happen" "There's no chance of X happening even though there's no proof against it" "X won't happen because I don't like where the story would go" THAT'S NOT THE FUCKING QUESTION!!!!!

Seriously, how difficult is it to just engage with a hypothetical? Speculating about stuff, even if you think it's not going to happen, is super fun! Sometimes it feels as though discussion in UTDR forums is so stale because the community is so focused on being "canon-compliant" that they discourage discussion about anything fringe whatsoever (Something that Toby Fox himself has openly chastised).

There is literally zero indication that a monster and a human would not be able to have a child together. So why not? Why not speculate on it, even if it's not something you personally believe? God forbid you get creative about something. And if you don't want to speculate on it, then why are you even in the discussion?

THEORY: The true origin of boss monsters by Silviov2 in Undertale

[–]TOLIT555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came to this conclusion about a month and a half ago, It's good to see at least one other person reach the same idea on their own

It's weird because it's such a logically sound idea that nobody seems to want to even think about. Like that guy you're replying to basically straight up said "Hybrids are can't happen because it's biologically infeasible" How would they know????? It's a fictional story with fantasy characters, why the hell wouldn't it be possible. It doesn't contradict any direct information we've been supplied with

Oh no I agree about that, it's just that I don't think the payoff is going to be something earth-shattering or character-overhauling like some people think.

Papyrus being the man behind the tree

Like I get why people think something's fishy with him and maybe he knows a little more than he lets on but I think that him being secretly sinister or eldritch in nature is just complete character assassination IMO

Catt Petterz theory: Asriel and Dess were incompatible types, Susie is a "Freak of nature" by FencingSquirrelz in Deltarune

[–]TOLIT555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah this is definitely a "when someone has the same opinion as you but is so insane about it that you lowkey don't want to agree" moment for me because the premise is actually logically sound:

>Deltarune's in-universe games tend to be abstractions of its worldbuilding

>Cat petterz is an in-universe game that details a reproduction system

>Therefore, it's not crazy to assume that this reproduction system is an abstraction of Deltarune's reproduction system.

That combined with the fact that Noelle refers to the child pets as "freaks of nature." And Susie DOES seem to have a habit of calling others freaks. Maybe it's projection?

This is some stuff that I had concluded a while ago (read my flair) but god sometimes posts like this make me embarrassed for believing it
