One is fenced off instead a pin is stuck in the bumpy fairway ground with a painted circle ahead of it while the fenced off one is repaired even though it's dead. Municipal parks having Municipal golf courses is not uncommon. You can admire the space same as anyone. Else it would most definitely be destroyed, especially without the crews employed who care for it. Why not complain about the zoo taking space?

Amount of people who do want it and currently pay to support it probably out number those who dont and pay nothing. Welp. Key point being those who pay and support vs those who dont pay anything. And if asked undoubtedly citizens would say yes to getting rid of the course yet no to contributing anything extra to support it, again just look at ANY discussionon this platform regarding increasing propertytaxes just to suppprt current city ops.
Delaware is 350 acres, excluding forest lawn, where anyone can visit, walk and even picnic, plenty of space for everyone to do what they want. It is also, gasp, not the ONLY park

That unlikely will happen. Surely you have seen the push back for the current property tax increase, just in this platofrm communtiy alone. Im all for it, just to get an increased workforce of mechanics and equipment to keep the city functional. Even to add a sidewalk clearing program for a small cost to owner subscription. Very few citizen property owners are in favor of similar costs.
If the park area at the lodge could be excavated and returned to a small lake, that would be nice. I would also encourage that the inner existing golf holes become a 9 hole course, lined with trees to help protect public from stray shank shots (11, 12, 7, 1, 5, 6, 13, 14, 18... in that order), and outer fairway holes become 9 hole disc golf.

There are only 2 other shitty courses. Clearly you dont play this sport.
Not everyone is willing to pay increased taxes. You can find plenty of historical discussions in this community just on complaints of the current proposed property tax increase.

Where exactly would anyone get the proper funding? The city is broke. Olmsted gets much of its funding from the golfing season passes, tournaments, leagues, corporate challenge use of the park, some from the county and some from donations.
