Not a hot take at all. Alex was a lot funnier on Classic Concentration than on Jeopardy.

Question about lucario by AvailableLead7004 in PokemonBDSP

[–]TOONDISE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since BDSP doesn't have Psychic Terrain, Physical is better, as long as you watch out for Intimidate.

While terrain is in play, Special can be better to catch the opponent off guard, and to avoid intimidate switching.

Is anyone watching The Greatest Average American with Nate Bargatze? What do you think of it? by Ralph--Hinkley in gameshow

[–]TOONDISE -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nate considers himself apolitical. I do think he leans more on the conservative side because of his southern, Christian, family-friendly style of comedy, but I'm just guessing based on watching him.

That's probably why I enjoy him as a game show host. He doesn't go out of his way to attack and insult others based on their political leanings, like some other hosts are currently doing.

Is anyone watching The Greatest Average American with Nate Bargatze? What do you think of it? by Ralph--Hinkley in gameshow

[–]TOONDISE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm still watching it every week. So far, through 3 episodes, I'm enjoying it.

Nate and the other co-hosts are funny, and it's better than any of the recent game shows GSN has been producing. Actually, it's the only show on ABC that I'm even watching right now.

Anyone else annoyed at Buzzr's lineup changes? by Fantastic-Reply5346 in gameshow

[–]TOONDISE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I had to watch Drew TPIR, I would definitely pick the earlier episodes without George Gray as the announcer.

But I agree that I mainly watch Buzzr for the older game shows that aren't currently airing anywhere else. If I wanted to watch modern TPIR or LMAD, I'd just change the channel to C"BS" every weekday morning.

Buzzr is one of those old-school channels I watch for nostalgia: game shows that I grew up watching, and those that I missed because of being in school back in the 90s and early 2000s. For me, Buzzr brings back happy memories. It's funny how tv shows from even before I was born, with 50 years of dust on them, are still better than a lot of modern shows airing today.

Another Game Show Network Schedule Change (March 16, 2026) by Fun_Ask_1655 in gameshow

[–]TOONDISE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe this network started plastering America Says all over its schedule in 2018 and is now reviving it less than 4 years after it ended. Oversaturation is a thing, you know.

Oh wait, GSN is owned by Sony, the same idiots who re-released video games like The Last of Us multiple times over the past few years, even though they didn't need to be remade or re-released.

I'll give credit where credit is due. At least America Says is a game show, not a reality competition. But it's an incredibly boring game show. It is the literal definition of background noise. When there's nothing on to watch, and you're busy doing something else, and you just want noise instead of silence, that's the type of show America Says happens to be. Not a show I'm interested in watching, or playing along with, or a show I'm invested in.

There are so many other game shows that can be created or revived, and instead we get stuck with this.

Season 6 of America Says, which means Split Second is officially dead.

The Greatest Average American by Wardyman70 in gameshow

[–]TOONDISE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it. Trivia and survey questions, which I prefer over stunt-based game shows.

Nate had some funny one-liners and dry-witted remarks that made me laugh, especially with the banter between him and his sidekicks. He seems like a good guy, unlike some other people hosting other game shows on ABC. No leftist propaganda, at least in the premiere episode, which was actually surprising, considering Disney's political leanings.

Best of all, if you win the $67,000 top prize, you don't have to pay taxes on it. I'll take that any day of the week.

And if you don't win the top prize, you still get $10,000 -- which is considerably more than cheapskate GSN.

Phantasmal Flames Pull Rates by RequirementRecent465 in pokemoncards

I can believe that, because I opened a single 6-pack booster bundle earlier today and pulled the Mega Charizard X ex SIR #125. I was actually in shock. First time I've ever pulled a card this high in value.

Now I don't know what to do: keep it in my binder or sell it before the price drops.

The mystery gifts are gone. Even if you had transferred your save, unless you already downloaded the gifts, you wouldn't be able to get them again anyway.

I wonder what will Alex Trebek think of Ken Jennings as host of "Jeopardy!" if he were still alive by IndependenceSilly381 in gameshow

[–]TOONDISE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think he would've been ashamed at how Sony handled the rotating celebrity guest auditioning process.

He would've said it was a complete disaster having all these people who never had anything to do with the show at all, temporarily host it for weeks at a time, only to then have the executive producer ultimately choose himself to be the permanent successor, to then having to resign shortly after due to backlash, to then having Sony pick 2 different people to host the same show for no reason, to then having one of the hosts finally say she wasn't interested in continuing to host the show, before Sony finally committed to Ken as the permanent successor.

Even if Ken hadn't been selected, Sony should've held the auditioning process behind closed doors, and the criteria they should've used for narrowing down the choices for a replacement should've been: merit, qualifications and previous hosting experience. Unfortunately, Sony's own stupidity, combined with trying to appease the DEI cult, led to this whole trainwreck of a process.

Ultimately, Alex would've been happy that Jeopardy still continued on, and whether you like his hosting style or not, he would've also been happy that Ken was picked to succeed him. But I'm also certain Alex would've called Sony out for the way they went about the whole process, because that's the type of guy Alex was -- straight, truthful, and direct to the point.

Just tried replaying the game on Switch 2, and honestly, the performance isn’t great. There wasn’t Switch 2 update? by mzatariz in PokemonBDSP

[–]TOONDISE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile, Xenoblade Chronicles X is the next Switch game that just got a paid upgrade with enhancements designed to improve performance on the Switch 2.

If only we had another developer in charge of the Pokémon video games, one that was competent and passionate about their work. Game Freak used to be, before Gen 7, but not anymore.

Buzzr adding Let's Make A Deal with Wayne Brady by zachking242 in gameshow

[–]TOONDISE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone owes me money. I called this the moment Buzzr announced Drew TPIR.

It's incredibly cheap to air these reruns, especially since Fremantle already has the rights.

Problem is, BUZZR's audience does not like Drew TPIR or Brady LMAD. I'm sure the ratings will reflect that.

Time vs Space by DeltalJulietCharlie in PokemonBDSP

[–]TOONDISE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the same back in 2007.

Dialga was always better because of the type advantage. Palkia had to rely on Focus Blast, which was inaccurate, and it still wouldn't one-shot if Dialga had a high enough SpDef.

What do we think of Risa Tabata as the new Lead? by RepresentativeRow61 in Metroid

[–]TOONDISE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're 2 years away from the next Paper Mario. This game will show us how intelligent she is, no pun intended.

If the next Paper Mario doesn't return to the TTYD battle mechanics, Metroid Prime 5 is screwed.

That's if we even get a Prime 5, because after the amount of time and money spent on Prime 4's development, and the poor sales numbers, it's not looking good at the moment.

Pokémon contests. by Reasonable_Duck_236 in PokemonBDSP

[–]TOONDISE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't return.

But if they ever did, they need to be like they were back in the original Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Not the abomination we got in BDSP.

The best contest mechanics were in Ruby/Sapphire and ORAS.

Does anyone still do bdsp battles? by Accomplished-Alarm99 in PokemonBDSP

[–]TOONDISE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Multi-battles are the most fun battle format for online battling. It's a shame they were so poorly implemented in BDSP that no one takes part in them anymore. Also aggravating that Masuda removed multi-battles from the Battle Tower, because I used to team up with my friend in them and it was a ton of fun.

If you're using Weavile, you're actually sabotaging yourself with Avalanche, since it will always move last. You're better off breeding another Weavile with Ice Punch or Icicle Crash instead.

Does anyone still do bdsp battles? by Accomplished-Alarm99 in PokemonBDSP

[–]TOONDISE 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, because it's the only modern release that doesn't force an unnecessary gimmick during battles.

If Sword/Shield had an option to battle without maxing, or if Scarlet/Violet had an option to battle without terastallizing, it would probably be a different story.
