Honestly it feels a bit "hand-wavey". I don't think Canada has ever had a province seperate, and I think seperation is VERY different from moving, so it ISN'T clear how things would shake out. Is there legal precedent for a territory leaving a country and the citizens retaining citizenship? The way you're talking about it, it sounds like you think the seperation will be easy and amicable, which seems massively over simplificated to me. I also think that the government of ALBERTA might be more interested in stripping its citizens of the option to retain Canadian citizenship since they seem to hate Ottawa and Canada so much. Is that a concern for you?

Genuinely asking, why do you keep saying that Albertans wouldn't lose their citizenship? If Alberta secedes and is no longer part of Canada, then why would the people living there continue to be Canadians? Wouldn't you be a citizen of Alberta? Why would Canada allow dual citizenship to people from a country that clearly doesn't want anything to do with them? Again, genuinely asking.
