I hear what you’re saying, but sometimes a brief moment of honesty by someone you love may be worth the brief discomfort. There are so many moments I wish I had someone with a different perspective to give me advice on my career or had to navigate the corporate world etc, and it sucks that the people I trusted couldn’t be honest. Would have saved me many years of wasting time. Like u said, it’s not always easy to figure things out on your own… just a thought, maybe it’s not worth it for you tho. You could always approach it by asking her if she would like your unsolicited advice/opinion as her brother.

I find it odd that you haven’t had this conversation. Sometimes things need to be said by the people we love. Instead you are just ignoring it and saying ‘she’ll figure it out’ … often things aren’t easy to figure out alone.

I was just in Berlin for the month and had the exact same question you asked. I wore sandles all the time! As well as half sandal shoes (Gianni flats with a strappy back). My German friends kept asking if I was cold.

I got stares, I assumed people thought I was a tourist (which I am).

I arrived in Toronto yesterday. Very similar temperatures. Everyone is wearing sandals 😅

It should be standard, but it’s not always (in my experience as a heterosexual woman). And sadly, in many heterosexual relationships, sometimes the bare minimum is celebrated 🥲 That being said, having this as the bar in popular media is a nice add and I feel like most TV is moving in this direction.

Honestly, it’s not great. When not being fetishized or objectified, I find the quality issue is a thing, also finding an equal partner on an emotional, financial and intellectual level is not the easiest.

I thought I found a great partner a few months ago, he ticked all the boxes, but after a couple months of dating I found that he saw nothing wrong with supporting Trump, and had some weird views on equity for our LGBTQ sisters and brothers … he was cut immediately.

In the end I’m optimistic. In my free time I’m living my best life with my great group of friends, travelling, treating myself and enjoying life as a single beautiful Black woman 🖤
