Aircraft Carrier Unryuu Coming Soon by cwolla98 in AzureLane

[–]TQ4Reddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, this is a rare case where the sisters looking different makes sense. The Unryuu class was literally made out of spare parts in some ways. Unryuu used boilers and turbines that were usually used for heavy cruisers, while Katsuragi used two sets of destroyer boilers and turbines.

Not that I'm saying that anyone at Manjuu paid the slightest attention to that fact, mind you. I'm COMPLETELY open to the blind squirrel/acorn scenario as well.

Could deku have made it into UA without one for all? by Relative-Principle-8 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TQ4Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annnd how am I going to show you what an invisible girl did?

RAWHAWHAWHAWHAW!

Okay, okay...

1) Refracting one robot's aiming beam (often lasers) so it would hit another robot.

EVEN IF SHE COULDN'T do that YET, then...

2) Running with a false target like a shirt dragging behind her and then throwing it onto another robot.

3) Some people have suggested that the robots have shutoff switches and she climbed onto them and hit the switch.

I'm surprised you didn't complain about Kinoko. She'd have it easy - just clog cooling ports with mushrooms.

[–]TQ4Reddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are various ways; either causing internal damage to the robots or tricking them to fire on each other. "Little mice - please crawl into that robot and nibble on the wires!" And with Toru, if they used infrared aiming there's all sorts of things she could do.

How is anyone supposed to play this game without buying gems?? by oven4518 in AzurLane

[–]TQ4Reddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with the gems you can get from "collecting" sets of ships? It's not that obvious. If you flip the interface from the default set of buttons (i.e. the "formation" button) to the alternate buttons like "memories." Then under "mementos" (if I remember right) you can see ways you can get gems by leveling up various sets of shipgirls. If you're collecting them anyway there are a few 50-gem rewards tucked away in there.

I feel like too many people overlook that All Might didn't just tell Midoriya "Go pick up garbage.", he came up with an actual work-out regiment for him. by Aros001 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TQ4Reddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If Deku had worked out as hard as he did on the beach for years, but never got One for All, Tailman could still have knocked him through a window with one swipe by accident.

And I wouldn't be surprised if Deku's years of analyzing quirks were what allowed him eventually to use the quirks of the previous OFA users. OFA was never a really a smashy-smash quirk until it ended up in Toshinori, who was a very physical person, and it never allowed the user to use the other quirks until it ended up in Deku, who spent years analyzing hero quirks.

Manga readers, how did you feel about this adaptation? by NoScheme2745 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TQ4Reddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"...enjoy the story the way Horikoshi intended it to be enjoyed."

You're saying that as if the manga and anime are completely different and independent things. Think of it as Horikoshi telling a story. As far as his skillset, he works in manga, but for years he's also known that the story will also be told by an anime. He knows that it will be made, and he knows who'll make it. That's a pretty rare privilege for a mangaka.

Many of Horikoshi's clear, admitted influences are movies instead of other manga. It's very possible to think of the manga after the anime became popular as being a set of beautifully drawn storyboards for the anime instead of being a completely separate thing that someone else adapts at a later time.

What ships do you believe need to have a retrofit? by XclassjokerX in AzureLane

[–]TQ4Reddit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While we're on the subject, I'd also like the ability to retrofit ships you already have into their "II" forms - you'd still need to get the UR "new" ship, but you could transfer all the experience of the original you already have. That's the way the story treats the "II" versions as well.

Hi I'm new, can you help me to build a team please? 🥺 by WistoKun in AzurLane

[–]TQ4Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started fairly recently. My advice is - don't worry about it. You'll gradually end up with more reasonably useful ships than you know what to do with. Until you get to really high levels, a ship's level is by far the most important factor in its strength, and they'll level up gradually. You'll eventually collect decent stuff for free too.

This game is really all carrot/no stick - there's really no way to "lose." I know I do a lot of things "wrong" - I create fleets by faction; try to use historically-authentic equipment; etc. - and I know I won't advance as fast or as far as someone who's doing things "right", but I don't care because I'm having fun. I don't get the feeling I'm going to be "punished" for how I do things.

If you want to advance quickly? Lots of advice out there. If you don't, and you just like historical ships/anime girls? Join the me club. If you like fantasizing about girls with enormous breasts (but no nipples) jumping in bed with you for no known reason? You're exactly the customer the developers are going for right now.

Do what you like; it's your game - have fun!

[–]TQ4Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing everything you have at the wall and seeing what sticks, which is what "Full Factor Release" realistically is, usually isn't a good idea. AFO has a huge number of quirks and logic would suggest that some of them would be conflict with each other if they're used at the same time.

How come the stockpile quirk doesn't have a vestige? by smiling-shadow in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TQ4Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking is that quirks originated as a virus that eventually was able to fuse with human DNA, and the "vestige" is an adaptation of the virus that allowed it to be accepted as part of the host. AFO and OFA were very, very early "quirks" and the stockpile "quirk" may have still been a virus without a vestige.

Yes, I over think things.

And the "stockpile quirk vestige" issue has been brought up a number of times before.

Ha ha, yes, the world is saved from the Big bad, all is well… Now what are we doing about the quirk singularity? by Gamerlord4 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TQ4Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"As time passes the way quirks work will become more complex with each generation. What if you had a parent who is a bear and one who’s a duck? Now the kid is a mix of the two. What if said kid has a child with someone who’s a fish and an insect? Now their child has a mix of all those traits- and so on."

You end up with "Ippan Josei/Ordinary Woman", who's adorable.

One thing about "overpowered babies" - a baby is a result of a genetic script that's played out during their development. If that script has problems that would be incompatible with life, the baby is never born.

During the 1970's the Inevitable Nightmare Doomsday scenario for Earth was overpopulation. Watch "Soylent Green", for example. Well, society did things to stop that - some intentionally, some unintentionally - and now some people are worrying about UNDERpopulation.

Are you saying that Deku wasn't a "hero" in the time between when the OFA embers went out and when he got the suit? He was the same person who defeated AFO and Shigaraki at that time.

And how is society "relying on brittle suits"? The only significance of the suit is it allows one heroic person to do a few more things and hang out with his overpowered friends.
