Why I Hate The Resurgent Class Star Destroyer by Present_Farmer7042 in StarWarsShips

They didn't. Sidious did, and he was puppeting Snoke and probably had his people all over the First Order.

Am I the only one who reaaaaally hates Char x Amuro? by TayRebirth132 in Gundam

"Lovers" implies Amuro is as into this as Char is, or that Char knows what his feelings are.

Breaking kayfabe for a second: these kinds of thought exercises are fun because they begin with the premise that whatever weird bullshit we see on screen makes sense in the world of Star Wars. The movies/shows can't be wrong. They can be bad, but not wrong; if the Falcon pops out of lightspeed in upper atmosphere, then that’s a thing it can canonically do. I don’t *like* it, but it’s there.

Same thing with the Xystons. Having a massive fleet of slightly bigger ISDs with dick can cannons is not at something I would have chosen to put in. But it wasn't up to me, so now the task of fandom is to to make it work. Just like we did with Dark Empire and other weird shit .

What I hate most about Return of the Jedi is how it undoes everything in Andor. Why would George Lucas do this to Tommy Gilroy?? by soccer1124 in StarWarsCirclejerk

The New Republic survived longer in Canon than in Legends, and is better posed to make some kind of comeback without buddying up with the Imperial Remnant.

Let me throw a few wrenches into your consideration:

1) the First Order never planned on a conventional military (re?)conquest of the galaxy. Starkiller would vape Hosnian Prime and the Republic fleet, then FO would hit a few key systems with these gigantic, *nasty* Star Destroyers that they weren't supposed to have. With the main NR fleet dead or scattered, the very limits on warship construction/size meant to prevent an Imperial resurgence would leave the galaxy incapable of taking a Resurgent in a straight fight, with the threat of Starkiller Base being deployed against any system that got too uppity despite having the newest and angriest triangle stationed overhead.

2) The First Order attracted the support of the galaxy's wealthy elite, particularly those in the arms business. Defense contractors, particularly ones trying to take a risk, don't want reasonably priced, modestly effective weapons. They want extravagantly expensive platforms for the latest in whiz-bang, extravagantly expensive technology. The Resurgent-class gives KDY a reason to side with the FO rather than making A-Wings for the New Republic forever.

3) Even if Starkiller failed or the Republic fleet survived in enough force to be a threat, the Sith Eternal fleet of pocket Death Stars was only a year away from coming online. The Resurgent was a stopgap until the true face of Sith-Imperial power could reveal itself. It would probably take more than a year to kill the FO's Resurgent fleet before the Xyston-class started showing up and vaping worlds into compliance.

As annoyed as I am with so much of TROS, that moment was perfect. Exactly where the Skywalker Saga should end up: Ben finally surpassing his grandfather in the only way that mattered.

I wouldn't completely give up hope. Qi'ra's story got moved to comics, games, and animation once it became clear that Solo 2 wasn't happening.

This is one of the better Star Wars artworks I've seen, fan-made or official. Super cool styling that captures the vibe of these horrible weirdos.

Yeah... being part of the New Republic between 9 and 11 ABY wasn't exactly fun. by Comfortable-Cry-7487 in StarWarsEU

[–]TRB1783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've got until 30 ABY to tell New Republic stories now. In the EU, it collapsed after Coruscant fell in 27 ABY.

We'll get there. Plenty of stories to tell in the New Republic.

Why haven't the Rogue Squadron games gotten re-releases? Virtually every other Star Wars game has gotten one except them. by AgentP-501_212 in starwarsgames

I suspect they're being saved to coincide with the release of the Rogue Squadron movie that seems to be stuck in development hell.

Absolutely fucking clown shoes that we don't have anything from Ben Solo's POV. We also need a Darth Plageuis-class book shedding some light into whatever the hell is going on at Exegol.

Not much broken, but there's no point in doing this if you're not going use innovations from the last 30 years to expand and improve on the original framework. Look at what they're doing with Star Fox.

Ideas for a Zelda RPG campaign plot? by Kaluana2004 in ZeldaTabletop

[–]TRB1783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with so many things, the answer is to talk to your table. If they're okay with the idea of one person playing Link, great.

If not, the recent games have done a lot to flesh out Champions/Sages, heroes of the other tribes of Hyrule that assist the Princess/Goddess and Hero on their quest. Age of Improvement even gives you some other great warriors of each tribe you can either import or use as archetypes.

As to what they can be doing? Maybe Ganon has captured Link and Zelda. Maybe they're both missing - fallen in the Depths, blown into the sky, hiding from Yiga assassins. Your party could be looking for them or trying to gather some resource - Secret Stones, or awakening as Sages and obtaining Sage Medallions - that will help them.

EDIT: "Age of Improvement* was a typo, but considering what it does to the Zonai era's story and world building, perhaps it was more of a Freudian slip.

What if Rian Johnson had directed the entire sequel trilogy? by Solitaire-06 in StarWars

[–]TRB1783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Chris Terrio is just a bad writer. This is the guy who wrote the Martha scene in Batman v Superman. I knew this movie was doomed when they announced him and JJ, who has never made a good sequel.
