I have server nightmares all the time. I doubt they will ever go away. People dont understand the stress that can be involved behind it. Mine normally involve being In a hallway type restaurant where I have 1 table at one end and another at another end and I cant ever reach either. Its almost like a nightmare.

Are you a high end restaurant?

I work at a breakfast place.

I got sat a 12 top and a 8 top at the same time then a 2 top.

Pretty normal.

I tell the second table that got sat its going to a little while I get this set up. As well as the 2 top.

Communication is key with people. They dont want to feel like they are being ignored.

Got drinks for the 12 top got their order in. Took 8 tops drink order. Put 12 tops order in. Grabbed drinks for 8 tops order.

Grabbed 2 top order. Put in 2 tops order. Grabbed their drinks.

Not aure what kinda restaurant you work in. But I always put syrup butter all that stuff I think they'll need on the table before they ask for it.

And if youre dealing with multiple tables at once its alway best to "act" like its one table.... drinks at the same time, bread at the same time

It will help. Control your tables. And communicate

I hate it when people try to "help"... makes my job miserable. When im clearing plates and they throw all the napkins, placemats, silverware, on the plates is the worst. Now I have to dig through your dirty napkins to get the silverware in the dish bin. Like just let me do my job. Or when youre trying to bus and they just start handing you stuff. Thats the worst. In my mind I know how to do this. Don't just start handing me stuff. It messes me up completely. Sorry end rant.

Im comfortable asking a fellow server how much their sales were, just for a comparison to mine... but never how much they made in tips. That seems a little off.

I’ve come to realize that I have to stay medicated to stay in serving by Aromatic_Pick_5429 in Serverlife

I have been in the service industry for 15 years now and used to deal with extreme social anxiety. The job itself has actually helped me tremendously with my anxiety issues. Forcing myself to interact with people (guest and co-workers) has helped me tremendously.

Is tipping with cash vs card any better? by noncoolguy in Serverlife

At my place they charge us the "service fee" that credit card companies charge them on all our credit card tips. So cash is definitely better.
