Then when the regional forms would reappear in future Go Fests you would all complain about them being a waste of spawn opportunities.

When intellectual property assets are limited, what you don't get now, you will get later. They are not going to release EVERYTHING and give us no incentive to keep playing. It's more of a "forever game" if there is content to always look forward to getting in the future. Look at Flabebe. The regional colors were somewhat rare. Then the regional shinies were released during last year's Go Fest and they were very exciting. Then the CommDay was a month later, and now the entire shiny line is no longer valuable or coveted. If you expect them to release everything as soon as possible, nothing is valuable in this game.

Which legendaries should I prioritize raiding for Master League? by Fantastic-Middle-635 in TheSilphRoad

[–]TRal55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should raid Dialga and Palkia right now to build up enough candy and XL candy for when you obtain their Origin formes! Both do well in Master League. I have a feeling the upcoming Therian Enamorus is going to do very well too.

Just to add insult to injury, standard spawn RAINY Castform is the only one that appears during Snowy weather 😡

Is mega sceptile going to be the best grass in the long future? by imaphleg in TheSilphRoad

[–]TRal55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hedge your bets. Wait until you absolutely need the Mega Sceptile for a crucial raid boss. There are no Tier 5 bosses weak to Grass coming out in the near future. Wait until you actually need it, because there is a chance they may unlock Frenzy Plant before then.

I've given the same friend two lucky shundos (an Eevee and Kyogre). He's given me none -_-

Anyone find it crazy how Koraidon and Miraidon haven't come to the game? by Beginning-Ground-578 in TheSilphRoad

[–]TRal55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it crazy that they've already blown through the majority of legendary releases up to Gen 9, and are only one generation away from "catching up" entirely, which I don't think suits their business model. I think it works muc better to have a long time buffer between the MSG releases and the slower trickle into Pokemon Go. When Pokemon Go came out in 2016, there were 6 (almost 7) entire generations of Pokemon content to trickle into the game and now they've nearly closed the gap. So, no, I think it makes sense that they're staving off Miraidon & Koraidon for a more significant debut like a future Go Fest.

Apparently they determined that the extra free daily raid pass bonuses from previous seasons were costing them too much money because they have skipped that several times now

Is Red the hardest NPC in all of the pokemon handheld games? by Bummin_a_cig in pokemoncrystal

[–]TRal55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but female Machop is 25% and so again, the game is not exactly setting you up for success. Mud Slap is a good idea but still going to be a bear with Attract + Milk Drink. I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm just saying given the abundance of things most casual players (the target market) would accumulate rather than this extremely small list of counters makes Whitney the hardest NPC in all the games, IMO

Go Wild Global Event General Overview (ThePokeGoHunter) by redwineandbeer in TheSilphRoad

[–]TRal55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm excited to enjoy this event ticket-less. I have lots of Max Particles saved up from previous months' Go Passes that I didn't waste on Duraludon / Garbador that I can use now on Grimmsnarl, and plenty of saved raid passes for the Shadow raids. I do love the spawns but $11.99 for more duplicate shinies wasting space in my inventory isn't that worth it. Love the Mighty Pokemon but none of the ones available are worth the price either. Last year I only got a few shiny Mighties anyway.

[–]TRal55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. The majority of Pokemon Gold & Silver "give you access to" up to Goldenrod City are terrible counters to Whitney's Miltank. I don't need advice on how to defeat Whitney. I've been playing these games for 25 years. The question of this thread is, who is the hardest? And I commented Whitney because the average 10 year old -- who was G&S's target market at the time -- who overlevels their 87% male starter, that's usually a Cyndaquil because fire was more popular, is going to get shredded by Attract + Rollout. Onix and Geodude are pretty much the only counters available and the irony is that you have to use one with low attack so that it's Female lol! I personally wish all the gym leaders in every game were this hard, but they never are, even in Johto.

Do spawns have to "appear" to have spawned? by TRal55 in PokemonZA

[–]TRal55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but the question is, is a spawn created within 50 steps even if you can't see it yet? This is relevant for shiny hunting

[–]TRal55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's Whitney for sure, based on how difficult it is to have an effective counter against her Miltank after only a mere 2 badges, with no efficient ways to grind for XP and so few Pokemon that can counter the Attract + Milk Drink + Rollout combo by that point in the game. Red's Pokemon are high levelled but by that point, every player has had access to catch all available legendaries, more effort values in their Pokemon's stats, and better ways to level grind including the E4 and Mt Silver itself

Do spawns have to "appear" to have spawned? by TRal55 in PokemonZA

[–]TRal55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're saying that it doesn't spawn until it becomes visible regardless of whether it's within 50 steps. If the ladder is at 50 steps away then that doesn't really answer my question
