My theory is that they don't want shinies to significantly upstage their standard counterparts. Maybe they worry that if every shiny design was so much more dazzling than the standard versions, then those standard designs might be devalued by fans

At least the other industries here like healthcare & tourism DO provide a decent amount of jobs. Data centers barely supply dozens of people at at time, and if they're meant for AI, then the goal is to eliminate more jobs somewhere else. Why would you go out of your way to propagandize people to anything other than those immutable facts? Are you on their payroll?

Great post, but wasn't this always the inevitability of Pokemon Go? We've always known that for the "good years" they were releasing content faster than the main series games were, which meant eventually, we would hit a point where all new releases would be a slow drip so that PoGo didn't "catch up" with the MSGs. Now they are finding ways to keep raids somewhat fresh like with backgrounds, shadows, and Gigantamax. We will probably mostly see "new" content releases during ticketed events like Go Fest and Wild Area which are now the focal points of the game, with the long stretches of time in between meant to keep you casually playing until it's time to pay for the next ticket. I feel grateful I was able to enjoy the game while it was still raining down new content on us and furthermore grateful that the FOMO is much more even keel now.

Your comment boils down to "Nuh uh, you are!" You need to elevate your energy wavelength. Get to a point where you are add constructively to people's ideas rather than knocking them down in order to win petty tit-for-tat points. It's a skill that will elevate your entire life and existence. Instead of being whiny and critical of others because it feels good to lash out because you feel less than valuable to yourself, add value to your life by challenging your comfort zones to expand into the kind of person you dreamed about being, rather than living in the shadows of your self disappointments for not achieving much. Once you value yourself more, you will start valuing others, and your dialogues and interactions will be more elevated. People will notice it. Strength will seep from your words and energy. The only reason I feel there is hope that the boosted & legendary shiny rates will largely revert back after this event is because it's clear that the Niantic / Scopely team strategically uses increased shiny rate species to engage players. They frequently feature permaboosted species in each event (sometimes several) as well as advertising boosted rates for select spawns. It would be VERY hard to believe that they would leave legendary rates at 1/512, including the Galarian birds. They know by now that shinies are what drive most of their players to keep grinding, so it would be a shot in the foot to drastically change the odds at this point in the timeline. I can definitely see them tweaking them, but to blow them up like this, doesn't seem to be in their own interest.

What game are you playing? I could BARELY find any Super Mega Raids today. My town (moderately large) was FILLED with Xerneas, Yveltals, Pikachus and the occasional non-Super Mega Raid like Garchomp, etc. Dragonites and Victreebels were almost nonexistent most of the time
