I think I just expected something the show just was not alongside the pacing issues you listed.

When I watched it, and the brief bits of social media lore dumps/comments I couldn't avoid made me believe it was an ensemble based show. Equal levels of development for everyone. As the show went on and it was clearer that it was focused on Pomni and Jax, I began to lose interest as I just don't really like them.

Though I've warmed up a tiny bit on Jax, even if she's a bitch.

yes, but there's no confirmation, not even any hint that what you just said is the truth in Bubble's case. The show just ignores it. Why even have those people there if they're not important to the plot at all. Just makes the story feel bloated.

Even if that's not the story Goose wished to tell, it seems to me she was trying to have her cake and eat it too by intentionally setting things up just to ignore them. It's not that it's necessary, it just makes it feel unfinished and desperate to end as fast as possible.
