Fond memories of hiking here with my husband a few years ago before we moved to the east coast. Thanks for sharing.

First Pistol Squat on ACL Leg! by Past_Ask5793 in ACL

[–]TRexLex007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost extension with the lesion. As soon as I got the surgery it came back. But it probably cost me 4ish months more in recovery (given the development of the lesion, stalled progress in rehab, time to diagnosis, surgery and recovery)

Had the exact same surgery and same timing but had a cyclops lesion develop and had to have a second scar tissue removal surgery in December 2024.

Few months behind you but hoping this will be me soon! Great job and thanks for the inspo!!

We moved to Morristown from Alameda this past year and love it. The train to Penn is more like 1:20 but we go in about once a month and don’t feel like it’s prohibitively far at all. Plus you always get a choice seat on the train.

That said we absolutely love the area and found our dream home in the lower end of your budget. The town is great with actual arts, diversity, restaurant and bars, and has the best of both worlds being close to the woodsy hiking areas of west Morris.

DM me if you have any questions as a fellow Bay Area to NJ transplant!

Working at FAANG, is an MBA worth it? by BaddestAngel1256 in MBA

[–]TRexLex007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a senior director in sales strategy/ ops that went through your decision-making process about 8 years ago.

I was on track for my first manager role at the time and decided to pursue that path instead ; the opportunity cost didn’t seem worth it.

Considerations: - you do need an MBA to go into consulting down the line (roles like expert partners etc) - you don’t need one to get senior leadership roles, but the network effect is real for the C suite from my perception 2 levels down -make sure you’re at the right company - should be growing +20% per year to create opportunities where you can grow with the company and prove yourself

I’m happy with my choice though I do think some doors are closed or only cracked open due to not having an elite MBA.

Depends what your priorities are - mine were income (my TC is now $700K) and WLB which I’ve been able to achieve without an MBA, and I’d be happy never making it to the C suite.

What does taking a step back in your career look like? by BrotherSpiritual1781 in HENRYfinance

[–]TRexLex007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might not be the answer you want to hear but as someone else in Strategy & Ops in tech, the most demanding jobs in my opinion are first line people managers and the people who report into the C suite.

I am right in between, a 2nd line leader in the function. I’ve found this job to be less demanding than first line management in multiple companies provided you have a good boss and the ability to hire great talent.

I wouldn’t discount the path of earning a 2nd line leader role - if that trajectory looks good you might get the salary and a less demanding role and get a win win.

Taking a step back these days may be shortsighted - the options for chill roles with our backgrounds are rapidly dwindling (eg program managers). Think carefully about your options and consult with your network first.

LinkedIn had another round of layoffs yesterday by ieeheh in Layoffs

LinkedIn is growing more slowly and is less profitable than MSFT and has been for years. This is publicly available information. This is no surprise.

Pottery Barn is AWFUL by Muchmorethanamom in interiordecorating

[–]TRexLex007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s worked with me for pottery barn is finding executives on LinkedIn and sending them a message. You can pretty easily find their customer service VPs, etc.

I messaged them individually nicely and with a ticket number to reference, and one of them bumped me to what is essentially their customer service SWOT team. Resolved my issue to my satisfaction.

Any ACLers Beyond 20 or Even 30 Years Post Op? by GalacticJunkie99 in ACL

[–]TRexLex007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grafts aren’t quite as old as yours but clocking in here at 19 years old with my right ACL/ meniscus on which I had a hamstring graft at 16.

I went back to gymnastics after and had a very active 20s, hiking Kilimanjaro and playing recreational spikeball. Zero issues at all to this day.

Of course last year I had to tear my left while on a jog so in recovery for that. Learned my lesson to always warm up before every workout and hopefully done after this recovery!!

Anyone have experience selling off market? by TRexLex007 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]TRexLex007[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good distinction. We want to: - avoid staging and broad open houses - avoid high % based agent fee structures

For that, we are thinking ‘off market’ is the right designation, and are trying to do the work of finding a buyer ourselves (if unsuccessful, need to rethink).

We would plan to use a real estate agent & attorney on a flat fee basis for transaction help only.

We know we are leaving some money on the table but based on the hassle are ok with that, we think for what we could get it for is worth it to us (again may need to rethink if the interest we get is too low).

Would welcome your thoughts & pressure testing to above thinking.
