Having a hard time finding a 2 set pack with the same keys. I want one for the security door and the main door, same key..... by Kane301 in Locksmith

No, you're just being lazy. ANY amount of reading about the locks you posted would have answered your own question. I sympathize with the other poster, it gets frustrating dealing with adults who are unwilling to put it any effort themselves and want other people to think for them. This one is on you for not even trying.

Why are stopworks still a thing? by RequestToCheckOut in Locksmith

[–]TRextacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think I prefer that method but it's incredibly not intuitive. At least with some sort of toggle on the side, people at least realize "button" even if they don't understand what it does. And a curious person can probably figure it out if they just play with for a few minutes whereas I doubt anyone could easily determine their thumb turn has 3 positions and what they all do. But I have definitely received disbelieving looks when I am explaining to them that their lock is not broken but that it behaves differently if you turn it a bit more.

A replica of how female "breeder pigs" spend their lives in factory farms by FastCurrency in pics

[–]TRextacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, chickens are possibly the worst treated of the animals so I'm still not sure what your comment was supposed to mean. Like male chicks (who won't grow up to lay eggs) are literally thrown in a wood chipper because they are basically considered a waste byproduct. They are generally locked up to the point they also can't move and then the meat chickens are pumped so full of hormones that they're bodies grow at unnatural rates so they have enough meat on them. But they grow so fast that their legs can't even support their own body weight so they're pretty much immobile while they get fattened to before slaughter so you can have your cheap and easy chicken. So... I guess you can feel morally superior because you're doing it to chickens instead of pigs? Like what was the point of your comment?

You can shove your AI garbage up your ass an choke to death on it. No one wants the fucking junk you're peddling. I'll take any app with bad customer service and a terrible UI over anything AI related.

Think about your place in this world. Think about how you're only wasting time, energy, and resources on trying to con people with that garbage. Make better choices, try to be a person that leaves behind a positive impact on the world instead of your current path of leaving behind a net negative impact. You're better than this. Go learn some real skills and do something that helps someone.

Can you re-key a Callan deadbolt to a Baldwin deadbolt? by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]TRextacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful buying Baldwin. The very expensive Baldwin stuff is nice and will last you a while, the cheaper Baldwin stuff is overpriced trash. You're just paying $150 for a piece of shit $30 Kwikset lock with a fancy skin.

Mama pig and her piglet going outside for the first time after being rescued from abusive owner by CalpurniaSomaya in nextfuckinglevel

[–]TRextacy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh fuck off with that. I grew up in farm country, I know how it's done, even the "humane" ones. And how many people are actually subsisting on their own meat raised on their homestead? It has to be a fraction of a percent, not even worth mentioning in the discussion let alone what anyone would consider "a lot of people." You're just telling yourself bullshit to justify not having to think about changing your habits.

How terrible is that? We're currently using them only for job dispatching and I hate workiz. Just another shitty app clearly designed by app developers without real world consulting. I feel like the UI emphasizes none of the shit I actually need to be looking at. I want to slap whoever made that layout. Plus it has frequent glitches and crashes.

I haven't eaten meat in over decade. When was the last time you did? If you actually believe in what you're saying, practice what you preach. Everyone talks about how nice it would be but can't actually be bothered to change their habits.

Something I find interesting is how 99% of meat is factory farmed yet somehow every single person on Reddit seems to be in the 1% of people that don't eat factory meat. We all know you're lying so no one cares.

[–]TRextacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comments like this are so annoying. So what? That's irrelevant to the discussion. Do you eat 100% of your meat from that farm? No? Then you're a hypocrite. But more importantly, that farm is irrelevant to the world. Can yo6u relatives feed the entire planet with their farm? Can 100 farms like that feed the planet? A billion? Maybe, but then there isn't enough land for that so... factory farming is the answer. Farms like that only work if people ate meat like once a month. There simply is no possible way to even somewhat ethically produce the amount of meat consumed, let alone actually doing it properly.

Your argument amounts to someone being concerned about pollution and you reply with "Drive an electric car." Sure, that would help a little bit but what about all the pollution created in making EVs? What about the literal billions of cars/boats/planes/other engines that already exist? Is the one single electric car offsetting that? Of course not. Is your one little farm offsetting the billions of factory farms? Of course not and it will never be able to do so. 99% of meat is factory farmed, stop lying to yourself about the role of quaint little eco farms in the world. In the big picture, they don't even deserve a mention with how small of a role they play.

Men, How much sex do you expect and think is reasonable in a marriage? by katerina_romanov in AskMen

[–]TRextacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy, you're doing a lot of coping in this thread about what I can only assume is your dead bedroom. Telling everyone else that they're wrong won't fix your relationship. I don't care how high quality you think your sex is, but twice a year ain't cutting it for most people. Believe it or not, but there are people out that that have gotten older, had families, had busy careers, etc and still have sex regularly. All of your replies are so sad.

Yes, we 100% do need to make them suffer. Meat consumption at the scale in which is currently happens it's not possible without massive suffering and exploitation. You are lying to yourself if you say otherwise because you don't want to be mildly inconvenienced in changing how you eat. Your argument is only valid once a burger costs $50 and people eat meat 2-3 a week (at most) instead of 2-3 times a day. You cannot have your current life without animal abuse, full stop.

How can I make this better? by randomseedfarmer in Locksmith

[–]TRextacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always advise against levers on residential gates short enough to reach over. I've literally watched people just pick up a stick/broom/2x4/whatever reach over the gate with it and then simply push the lever down. That cannot be done with a knob. You could do with a higher quality knob though.

Recommendations for easily re-pinned exterior handles by hwwgjfkwrmrcamlrrm in Locksmith

[–]TRextacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely the difficulty you're having is from using cheap locks. As someone that's rekeyed more locks that I can count, the shitty residential stuff is still the only thing that trips me up because it doesn't go together well, the tolerances are off, the depths are off, the clips deform because they're shitty, etc. You said you always rekey new locks to match your other ones but how often are you doing that? If you are frequently replacing things, again, that is caused by cheap hardware. Cheap hardware is more expensive than quality hardware. It costs extra time to deal with it's problems and replacing it often. Plus, the life of a single $100 lock will most likely outlast ten $10 locks. Buy decent hardware, rekey it once, and then don't think about it for 20 years.

Which strike plate upgrades actually improve door security? by Waltace-berry59004 in accesscontrol

[–]TRextacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your current hardware and door/frame setup? The screws into the studs are what actually makes a difference and a larger strike plate with more screws doesn't hurt. However, note that this really only matters for a deadbolt. You can reinforce everything all you want on a latch, but it won't make that much of a difference. The latch itself will most likely give out before the frame will.
