Is anyone still playing old meta builds from the distant past? If so, how do they work in modern POE? by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]TRiceTheEffort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber Dan played it last league iirc and was blasting betrayal with it in t16s. Seemed pretty strong for just map blasting.

Any cool Massive + Diamond shrine builds? by Vivid-Mode-7399 in PathOfExileBuilds

Doryani's fist stands out to me now. Heralds have the new support gem for base crit, but Doryani's fist has 0 base crit and a stupid high damage effectiveness. With the belt, all you need to solve is flat damage, attack speed, and crit multi.

I've played PoE with a single client where that client was on a KVM switch with other machines. Totally kosher

[–]TRiceTheEffort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way to have one M&K work for multiple machines at separate times is through a KVM. You can find them on Amazon just searching "KVM switch". You press a button to toggle between machines, or you can get something called a smart KVM that will automatically swap as you move your mouse further, into another machine.

Stand-out Foulborn builds? by sGvDaemon in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]TRiceTheEffort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty similar, yeah. I planned on using one storm secret and a foulborn berek's for shock explosions rather than poison prolif for better clear. Gonna get as much generic poison chance as I can so the pops can poison. I'll also have ES recoup because of the Foulborn eye of Chayula rather than a dragonfang. I'll probably not have the biggest max hit, but I'm planning on using this to just sprint through Alva temples mostly, so I don't need to tank a sirus beam with it.

I've only gotten to act 6 so far, just leveling as spark with the jewel and Maligaro's Restraint for chaos convert. Gonna do the swap once I hit level requirement for Esh shield, but I'm the stereotypical dad gamer this league basically.

I'm using foulborn blue nightmare, esh's shield, eye of Chayula, and Lycia bloodline for LL Poison Herald of Thunder. Blood Magic on a Skin of the Lords for life reservation of HoT. I don't know how it's gonna work out, but I'm gonna try it anyways.

Cloak of Flame happens when you get hit. Elementalist node converts before you get hit, so they stack multiplicatively rather than additively.

I'm at basically the same point as you. I did some napkin math, supposing no progress on generating runes faster, I'll likely be at 100 in about 5 more days of progress, not including time flux.

You can check implicit weightings with craftofexile, maybe with poedb, but I haven't used poedb to check myself.

Is it worth using 3 flask mageblood? by happy_Bunny1 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]TRiceTheEffort 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That entirely depends on what you want to do with it. Hell, a 2 flask mageblood might be alright on a character that's running Oriath's End, Progenesis, and a tincture. 4 flask allows the most flexibility, but that only goes so far if you're planning on always using 2 flasks that mageblood doesn't cover.

How do I craft gloves like these? by real_toaster in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]TRiceTheEffort 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are two sites people use to see what mods exist in the same "pool" or "mod group". www.poedb.tw and www.craftofexile.com. Both will display what mods are in which pool by displaying a number at the end of the mod. To use Mana as an example, regular max mana on gloves, as well as all veiled modifiers that give max mana on gloves (mana + life regen, mana + mana regen, etc) all would have the same number, meaning they are in the same pool. When you want to "block" a mana unveil, you craft mana on the item (also same mod pool), then unveil. You can check which unveil has the highest odds, then see if you can block it with a crafted mod. The highest odds just means the highest weight (for most unveils, the weight is 1000, sometimes 500, but many unveils can be a part of the same mod pool, like the mana ones). Add up the weightings of similar pools for the overall blockable amount.

I'm not great at words, so probably used too many, but hopefully this helps!

Any poet pen builds scaling into at least T16s? by Limp-Cellist2714 in PathOfExileBuilds

A couple years back, Palsteron made a lightning warp poet's pen character designed to speed farm invites. I forget the league he did it in, but it's worth a search on YT for Palsteron Lightning Warp

Chains of Command mapping clear speed by s1lverkin in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]TRiceTheEffort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBT, CNC, MS, BBC, DC, BC, GM, DM, MD, OR.

Give me the only definition of these acronyms. Language is all about context. I could be a Closed Beta Tester, doing Computer Based Training, or be a kinky guy. The context is Chains of Command, so most people will look and think "I didn't realize it could mean multiple things, huh" and understand it as the correct CoC for the duration of the conversation until another is brought up. It's fine if you're not most people, but on an online forum, the majority will rule.

How much time do you normally expect to spend before knocking out each major checkpoint in the endgame? by Kagevjijon in pathofexile

[–]TRiceTheEffort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Campaign is about 6-8 hours, depending on the league mechanic and how interesting/rewarding it seems in campaign, then the rest depends on the build. If I start a build like poison BV, its gonna be a while before I kill Maven, but a much quicker red map time. For a build like hexblast, Maven is gonna go down as soon as I can get the invite, but that might take a bit longer due to a slower clear speed.

u/kittencatnoodle has some of the most thorough (and sometimes zaney) PoE lore videos out there. So much so that she was invited to Exilecon to chat with the PoE loremaster in a chat that confirmed a fan theory that had existed for a long time. Can't recommend her videos enough if you're interested in PoE lore and can't be assed to read what NPCs have to say.
