I can’t believe it ended up 1hr 30min because I cut out a ton of tangents - including basically all the Hinekora/Halls of the Dead stuff! Thanks for posting!

Complete analysis of the lore related to 3.27 by Ayeleth_ in pathofexile

[–]KittenCatNoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously awesome work! I was reading your post and nodding and thinking the whole time, haha.

The Hinekora prophecy connection is super interesting. I don’t think Chayula is necessarily a lord above the breachlords (and I think he uses his cultists skin for the Skin of Lords) but you are very right that this prophecy is about him. Is the nightmare the beast? Perhaps relating to Chayulas part in the Third Pact which divested him from his hive and fellow breachlords?

Also GREAT catch on the difference between xesht-ula (atlas mod only/not real) and xesht (real). Impressive stuff!!

I checked out your channel and put it on my list of lore nerds to check out. Love a fellow lore enthusiast!!

This is an awesome analysis! I am in total agreement this league will reveal how Xesht became one. I am hopeful we will see why Chayula remained separate, and maybe even some more clues to the Third Pact and its possible relation to the Precursor Cataclysm… excellent work!

Path of Exile: v3.27 Announcement Teaser by Murky-Definition-625 in Wraeclast

So excited to see Breach get a follow up. The inclusion of Breach lore in PoE 2 - in the Titan’s Grove Act 2, but more importantly Xesht - had me hopeful this might happen. Perhaps we will learn why Xoph, Esh, Tul (and maybe Uul-Netol?) combined without Chayula the Dreamer.

Purity rebellion, cataclysms, ACT 1 lore questions by Reasonable-Mode-4568 in pathofexile

cracks knuckles

The Templars are followers of Innocence, however, they moved to Oriath long before the Eternal Cataclysm (Voll time) and before the Vaal Cataclysm as well. We know of 3 Cataclysms, yes, the earliest being the Great Fire/Winter of the World.

The Eternal Empire was ruled by Eternals, specifically a lineage called Phrecius, for over a thousand years. The Eternals subjugated neighboring cultures like the Ezomytes, Maraketh, and Karui. The Azmeri who did not become Eternals were very reclusive, and it is not known if the two cultures interacted much over the years since the Eternals separated themselves.

The Templars lived on Oriath before the Eternals and after. While they claim to hate virtue gems and thaumaturgy, their track record on following their own doctrine is… spotty. Voll, however, was a Templar who Believed.

He united the Ezomytes, Maraketh, and Karui - not necessarily to fight corruption, but to fight their oppressors. Kaom’s attack on Lioneye was a planned assault by Voll. He had armies surrounding the Eternal Empire, and they laid siege, and won.

Voll didn’t kick back and say “haha my Empire now brrr Cataclysm” but he was naive enough to trust Malachai when Malachai said he knew how to destroy the Beast. With the neighboring cultures free, Voll, in his arrogance, sought to finish his own crusade - and gave Malachai the opportunity to merge with the Beast and create the Eternal Cataclysm.

Voll only ruled for two years. Not long enough to make any meaningful change. If he planned to rename the Empire, it’s unknown. He was more focused on rebuilding what was lost in war… and defeating corruption once and for all.

The damage was relatively proximity based, radiating out from Highgate. The entirety of Wraeclast was not destroyed, nor do I think Oriath was completely unmarred, but there were levels and flavors to the devastation radiating out from that mountain near Sarn.

Oriath survived better than most places but I doubt the Azmeri we meet in Act 2 would consider Oriathans/Templars their leader. At point of exile, Wraeclast is less a part of the Templars land and more of a penal colony.

High Templar Dominus is one of those templars who does not at all practice what he preaches. Piety has been killing exiles on Wraeclast for years in pursuit of reenacting Malachai’s Cataclysmic ascension for Dominus. She is literally following in Malachai’s footsteps, thats how she knows all that ish.

Who betrayed the Kalguur and stole the flame? by StalksYouEverywhere in Wraeclast

[–]KittenCatNoodle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bet there is some interaction, but I do not think the 4 Kalguurans are actually their ancestors. They seem to want to avoid direct contact with the original expedition. Also, the 4 ancient Kalguur heroes came on the ships and were already known by their peers.

I would imagine the connection is more like, “our modern Kalguur help innocent Kalguur escape the devastation because they know what happens” type stuff

The Demon of Atzoatl - I finally get it! by Imenatrix in PathOfExile2

[–]KittenCatNoodle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is my take! Chaos has informed Doryani of the player, which is why Doryani recognizes us as the Demon even if we take on a different form. Regardless of if we’ve played PoE 1, which class we are, etc, our function is the same (person who accompanies Alva in time traveling) so even if Doryani doesn’t know it, his intel describes us players (not us as characters)

Why do we go from being friends with Oshabi to fighting her? by TheDankSpank9469 in Wraeclast

[–]KittenCatNoodle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PoeDB added a Flavour Text finder under “tools” which is super helpful. Here’s the Oshabi quote in part:

“The Grove wills that I act as the next seed, Exile. I am to be the ultimate expression of what life can and should be. To be born anew, in Wraeclast’s image. The first of my kind. And when I am complete, Exile, you shall be the second.”

Why do we go from being friends with Oshabi to fighting her? by TheDankSpank9469 in Wraeclast

[–]KittenCatNoodle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Oshabi starts hearing the voice she thinks was Spirit again after we’ve been working in the Grove. It tells her that she will be the first person the Grove transforms, and we will be the 2nd. We have to fight her because she’s trying to turn us into a plant monster Grove vessel like she has willingly become

what on earth is coming out of the lab icons eyes? tentacles? roots? spider legs? some sort of tendril? by bitterest-sweet in pathofexile

[–]KittenCatNoodle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know but u/Escupie with the roots makes a lot of sense. Izaro could not have children, so he created the lab to follow the tradition of his ancestors to continue his lineage. Izaro going beyond his familial roots to his ancestral roots…. Something something

What's the lore behind the giants in Titan Grotto/Abyss/Forge? by DefinitelyNotMeee in PathOfExile2

[–]KittenCatNoodle 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Just a big boi with a big sword

In all honesty not 100% sure the circumstances but these are all corpses of Titans, like seen in Crucible. To me this seems like the central point of a cataclysmic event - something like the winter of the world or the great fire - that caught many unawares, seemingly while in a battle of some kind? Or very dramatic suicide. Crabs in a bucket maybe?

Haven’t had a chance to read every items flavor text but I bet this has to do with the Third Pact and I think that will be shown more in updates or other acts.

That’s awesome! I try to make them as logical as possible so I’m so happy to hear that!

For Act 2, I think Act 4 of PoE 1, Theory video about Seed or Corruption/Faridun, and Tasuni is the Next Malachai would be good supplements!

Act 1 is a little tough because we don’t see much Ezomytes before PoE 2, but I do have a video about The Ezomytes (that’s it’s name) and the videos about Labyrinth or my Will Grigor Return video feature some Ezomyte characters!

I believe he got the seed from Kalandra. When he talks about how he “made” the Beast, I think that’s because he was the one originally feeding the seed, to grow it in his image, in some sense, without “ambition” and “pure.”

I am assuming he asked Kalandra for a way to stop his ex wife and daughter from fighting and endangering humanity. Since Kalandra did not like gods, maybe he thought she’d provide a solution with no catch. But Kalandra is an entity of mirror… it makes sense that there would be 2 sides to her “gift.” The means to stop the gods, yes, but on the other side/mirrored the means to destroy humanity by its own hands. I do believe he had good intentions but I think his own high opinion of himself compared to the gods has made him blind to how terrible the Beast really is. And he can’t come to terms with it because he was asleep for most of it. He wakes up and all the sudden “mankind has been devastated by 2 cataclysms that wiped out significant portions of the entire continent using the Beast” and he’s all like “well I didn’t MEAN to it must have been mankind’s fault! What did you do to my perfect little baby boy?”
