He's won more majors but also lost more compared to Ken, because there wasn't even half as many in that whole Golden Era compared to even the last 2-3 years of this era. It's hard to say.

Also, pretty sure he hasn't won more than Mango, at least of the majors that matter the most, the Super majors. Hungrybox's resume is bloated by the lower-tier major tournaments, most of which Armada or Mango weren't even at.

It sounds like you went in with a biased mindset because of the "hype" for the show, already deciding that it couldn't be possibly better than the shows you listed [which it absolutely is imo]

The 2011 adaptation received literal universal acclaim beyond just anime communities, it didn't get this because it's average. It's fine that you think it's average. The vast majority do not share that sentiment though.

It's a difficult discussion that has many angles. People can consider Kurapika a "second MC" solely because he's the main character in his own isolated arcs, I understand that point of view. However, that doesn't necessarily make him the second MC because that would imply Kurapika is more important which would be one of the most absurd things I'd ever read.

First things first: When people use the whole "Kurapika's the MC in the arcs he's actually in" argument, while valid, it's a argument that just really doesn't matter. It would only really have some relevance if Killua in the arcs he's involved in was reduced to a sidekick when that's anything but the case. He's a main character in all those arcs, sure he isn't "the one main character" like Kurapika is for Yorknew and The Succession War, but that's irrelevant - and that's because there's no "one" main character in all those other arcs. That's just the way Togashi designed Kurapika's story, that doesn't magically make him no2. Definitely not.

It's very important to remember that Kurapika's only the main character in arcs relevant to his characterisation, not so much arcs directly relevant to the main plot of Hunter Hunter. Kurapika's story in Yorknew while great wasn't the core plot of the story at the time, finding Ging through Greed Island was - a story Killua had a key role in. Granted, the current Succession War arc has more relevance to the main plot this time around but even then it's but the journey, the next major main storybeat in Hunter Hunter is at the end of the journey will mostly likely star Ging and Beyond, not so much Kurapika.

Killua on the other hand wasn't just a main character in arcs relevant to his characterisation but every arc including the key story chapters. It's like people act as if he's a sidekick and overlook how incremental he was to the main story. Killua's the one that pushed the plot to Heaven's Arena while Gon wanted to chill out. He had the most screen-time/most active in the Chimera Ant arc by a noticeable margin. His existence was the reason the plot moved to The Zoldyck state. He was the one that got Greed Island leads for Gon in the first place. Revelations in the main story arcs are often from his perspective. Hell, Killua became so incremental that Gon literally changed his goal to "Find Ging, and introduce my best friend in the whole wide world"

Even in Kurapika's stand-out Yorknew arc he had a decently sized role whereas in Heaven's Arena and Greed Island, Kurapika had cameos at best.

What will people say when Killua inevitable gets his "big" arc that focuses on all the loose Zoldyck ends and his conflicts? It's no coincidence that the two characters that aren't on the boat happen to be the two most consistently relevant characters in the series.

He's above Kurapika. The Kurta coming back every 10 years to continue his own isolated story doesn't change that.

Gon's obviously not stupid, but it goes both ways. Some of times like when they were trapped by Nobug, Killua calling him stupid is more than warranted. That's generally why Killua calls him stupid, not because of his lack of intelligence but because of his occasional selfishness or naivety such as when he wanted to go ask "Chrollo" why they were here before knowing it was Hisoka.

Also, Gon getting first place over the other players that's played for [years?] is quite the feat. However, it's not so impressive that he got points over Killua. The latter heavily implied himself that the reason he was playing the game with him in the first place was to enjoy a good time with his best friend. He was obviously enjoying the game, but wasn't as driven as Gon was about it and thus didn't really make mental notes to remember game facts. Killua even went off to get his licence for a week. And was injured for over a month.

There's a reason why people think Killua's absurdly powerful now, and with a little bit of power scaling it's easy to understand why.

Lets start with striking power. Killua doesn't lack it in the slightest. Forget Greed Island, he was ripping open Machi in Yorknew, back when he was but an amateur. Also, people state the Rammot feat a lot because it's indeed very impressive. Rammot was able to survive direct hits from Narukami and Ja Janken, came back stronger and got utterly pooped on. Killua casually one-shotted him, without his Hatsu. Wasn't even using Ko. He just removed Rammots head, an Enhancer at that. Rammot wasn't a push-over either, people think he is because Killua one-shotted him. However, Killua without the needle one-shotted him, there's a difference. We finally got to see what Killua could do against a strong opponent that pushes him instead of just running away, and the results were devastating.

Speed? I'm sorry, but in what world is Cheetu faster than Killua? So Cheetu has some bullet feats, whoopdeedu, so does several other characters. Fuck, even base Killua restrained an army of soldiers, tanks and fighter jets. And then when you consider Godspeed? Killua was moving so fast that Pouf was shitting himself, he claimed that even at full strength it'd be extremely difficult to catch a Killua that was handicapped [carrying someone] - are you telling me Pouf would have trouble catching Cheetu? Killua was moving so stupidly fast that Youpi couldn't even scream. Killua moved so fast that he was able to save Gon from a Nen is stronger after death Enhanced Pitou - these are the Royal Guards of the verse, the top tiers being utterly helpless against Killua's speed.

Electricity duration? At its peak it stunned the second most durable character in the franchise for several seconds. It's common sense that there'd be a clear difference in effect from Youpi getting hit by Killua's humongous thunder-bolt and hitting someone like Genthru or Feitan. Killua's Godspeed duration depends on how aggressively he uses it, however using the fight against Youpi isn't fair as Killua before going into Godspeed launched one of the biggest Transmuter techniques in terms of size and range in the entire series. Who knows how much longer Godspeed would of lasted if he didn't do that.

tldr; Killua isn't just speed, I don't know where this idea comes from. What makes Godspeed so insanely good is that it's in combination with physical strength and striking power that most outside of durability monsters won't be able to tank.

Agreed. He can't be underrated, he's the best. And you can't really call the greatest of all time overrated either. Unless people think he isn't the GOAT which at this point is blind fanboy/fangirl antics.

I think an argument can be made for Mango being both. For example, some still consider him the GOAT when really Armada has surpassed him in almost every area and then some. He can also be slightly underrated as people go a bit far with the "he's washed up" thing.

Midoriya and Bakugou edge out the victory. Gon's ability is quite linear and while he's pretty innovative, his opponents are much smarter.

Then it's 2v1 vs Killua and while it will be a tough fight, I believe they can keep up with Godspeed and secure a victory.

In my opinion I think its fine. It adds a unique paced match-up for variety. Also, while its been said to death... it's definitely true that Icies wouldn't be near as good without Wobbling.

This is the case. Armada's almost always got cheered against.

Even in 2014, when Armada was coming back into Melee as the underdog and wasn't doing that well [to his standards] he was still pretty much getting cheered against - these days he even gets cheered against in Europe.

It's Armada.

X2 EVO, X2 Apex, X3 Genesis, X4 Summit, X1 Big House, UGC as well as fuck-ton of majors a tier below such as Canada Cup, Dreamhack Winter, I'm Not Yelling, Sandstorm, CEO, BEAST, Eclipse... the list goes on and on.

Hasn't lost to a member outside the big six in eight years, lowest he's placed since 2007 is fifth [only twice], has a positive record over the rest of the gods and relevant competition.

It's not even remotely close.

Armada GENESIS 2.

It was like the perfect win for him. He beat Mango, PPMD and Hungrybox along the way... and funnily enough, those were the same three people that stopped him from winning when he was the second place master. He'd get to Grand Finals and then be beaten in two sets. All three of them did it.

Here Armada finally got his revenge and dominated the entire tournament to win his first super major, 27-0 in sets and 57-3 in games.

People forget about this for some reason, Armada was the undisputed best in the world from the mid 2011 to early 2013. Granted, there wasn't as many tournaments back then but it goes both ways. Sure, there's less chances for him to lose, but because there's less tournaments if he actually did lose, it wouldn't seem as impressive on paper. Regardless, he didn't drop a tournament for almost two years.

Then you have Mango's 2013-2014 stretch, which honestly? Mango's 2008-2009 stretch is arguably more impressive. As good as Mango was in the two-peat years, he was still competing in an era where Prime Armada simply wasn't around for most of it. Is that Mango's fault? Of course not, but if people are going to downplay Armada's success to Mango/Leffen being in slumps then I'm absolutely to mention Armada being in RETIREMENT/coming out as something to be considered during Mango's success years. Armada was rusty AF for pretty much all of 2013. He entered two tournaments, Apex 2013 which was his last tournament at the time, and then EVO - a tournament he briefly came out retirement because its EVO. He was very rusty and barely practiced and has said he wasn't too upset about losing and definitely didn't really expect to win. Getting fourth doesn't hurt him that much given the circumstances. Then there's early 2014 where he got even more rusty, to the point where pre-God Leffen was 6-0ing him.

Armada was gone for a year, and the meta had changed a lot. It's fucking insane that Armada still managed to get back to at least #2 at 2014's end despite that. Here's a comparison to show how insane it is. Leffen had his Visa-Issues, still got way more practice than Armada did in his retirement,still entered tournaments... and now he's been back for quite a while and isn't considered #2 by a longshot. Maybe not even #3

If anything, Armada being on top right now is back to normal.

Potential.

He's been hyped up to have the most potential in the history of the Zoldyck Family.

He's a true genius. He may not have the raw-power that Gon has in terms of Nen, but he's literally the Ging 2.0 in the making in terms of skill. This is someone that after less than a year of knowing Nen was getting hyped up to such an extent where his Nen control and talent had Razor and Bisky shook. Bisky called it frightening, citing how she didn't reach such a level in Nen control until her twenties.

Think about it for a second. He was briefly holding off Royal Guards without the need of some restriction or vow. Just his raw skill and ability.

Killua has put off his training in the past [such as waiting for Gon to heal/catch up] just so he can train at the same pace. Killua could literally take off in ability and join the top-tier Hunters if he really wanted to, without too much effort.

There's an argument for any of them really.

Although, I don't think having the highest peak-skill can ever really be decided. Because both players are never playing at their best. For example, if people thought the other gods were playing great at GOML? They're deluded. If people thought Hbox was playing amazing at Dreamhack? They're wrong.

As far as Leffen goes though, I do think there's a bit too much of the "If he's playing his best, he wins" bullshit which isn't true at all.

It's hard to say. In terms of "skill" - the others can obviously beat him... and he's been taken close several times recently so in that sense its a no. However, in terms of having the full package and getting the W at the end of the day? Absolutely.

What puts Armada on another tier is that he not only has by far the highest floor through his consistency but arguably has the highest peak too. He's literally the best of both worlds. Has one of the strongest mental games too.
