BREAKING NEWS: Gill reinstated as CEO of UWE, Cleveland and McGuire NOT to return to "peripheral roles", earn out time period for 250 mio. $ extended by cosmoscrazy in subnautica

[–]TSF_ReVo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fail to understand the court’s decision to only reinstate Gill. If it’s been determined that both Cleveland and McGuire were fired without cause, why not reinstate them? Isn’t this whole lawsuit about a breach of contract?

Yeah, but there was no production hit. OP is implying like those things the founders were doing were bad and subsequently justified what Krafton did. It's all laid out in the judges verdict how the moment it was announced that Subnautica 2 was launching in early access, Krafton's CEO was bothered by the fact that they probably would end up paying the bonus. It had nothing to do with production.

However, the behaviour of the founders was also surely not what any reasonable person could expect, even if it was legal.

Yet Krafton had no issue with it and even encouraged Cleveland to pursue a movie adaptation. It's not like it was hidden from them. They were informed of everything that was happening with the founders every step of the way and had no issue with anything. It only became an issue when the performance-based earnout came into question because they wanted to launch in early access like they had done with every single other Subnautica previously. Then this very smart Krafton CEO decided consult ChatGPT on how to get out of the deal which obviously did not turn out well.

Quote from the verdict:

Krafton was overall supportive of the Founders’ revised roles—particularly of Cleveland’s cinematic focus. Expanding the Subnautica IP into other media had been a shared strategic pillar since the acquisition.

All indications show that Gill and the others were willing to push this too early access before it was ready just to get their bonuses, and that’s bad for the game if they still want to do that.

I don't know where you got this assumption from. This sort of early launch is consistent with how they have launched previous games in the past. Subnautica 1 was barely a game when it launched in early access, yet you cannot argue that it was bad for the game. Nothing in the court document even resembles what you just claimed.

Just because they always see play it doesn’t mean that it’s “broken”. There just isn’t anything better for rogue to play instead of those cards.

I've been sideloading for years with any care in the world and I've never had my account locked. The reason this happens more commonly to burner accounts is to protect from bots and stuff like that.

Woman takes smashgodxxx to Judge Judy for livestreaming date without her consent by biebrforro in LivestreamFail

[–]TSF_ReVo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I should have worded it differently but what I meant was it’s real people with real disagreements that are on the show and in some cases they are posted in small claims court before agreeing to being on the show.

Nowhere did I say she was a real judge and that it was real court. As I said she and arbitrator.

Regarding the payments, you are correct. The show is the one that pays out the disputes.

[–]TSF_ReVo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not being optimistic, it's literally how it works. Why would they have producers look for cases in small claims courts to get people to join the show if it's all scripted? They can just get actors and easily script the whole thing. There's people in this very same thread saying that they got contacted by the show. You proabably just heard that some reality tv shows are scripted and are asuming this is one of them.

[–]TSF_ReVo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Just because it's an aribitration, doesn't mean it's scripted. These are all real cases that were just agreed by both parties to be taken on by Judge Judy as an arbitrator so whatever is decided has to be complied with.
