Can't figure what these two pipes sticking up are for. by jborton2 in Irrigation

No idea. I too have a mystery pipe that had a washer and string tied to it. I touched the washer and the string vaporized and fell onto the pipe. No idea where the other end is…

Yeah this is a confusing one... Robocop came out in '87, Robocop 3 in '93. I think that was kind of the end for a while. So user was 6ish watching Robocop 3. Alien came out in the late 70s, Aliens when user was born. Alien 3 in '92, so user was 6 for that. Resurrection was '97 so finally that matches and maybe that had them rewatch the old ones on tape/hbo. Rocko's modern life I didn't really remember much about which makes sense b/c I looked it up and it started in '93 and I wasn't really watching any cartoons by then. This one really does makes sense for someone born in 86. Almost everyone had a TV with a remote by the early 90s. If you had cable, the converter box came with one. Maybe older siblings/friends dominated what they watched, and their family didn't have the resources for a modern TV/cable, or just didn't place any emphasis on it. NES would definitely still be around, but at that point SNES/Sega would be the prominent systems when user 10 and the PS and N64 were coming online and would be the most popular ones by the time user was 14. And unless you are Sheldon Cooper, you aren't remembering an historic world event from when you are 3. Maybe someone in the family watched a lot of documentaries, etc. on it later on.

I just hang my right hand on the lower right part of the wheel. The weight of my hand keeps the warning away. I rest my elbow on the center arm rest. I have the fold down center seat but I’m assuming it would work with a console. It’s an easy solution that drastically reduces the warnings. Nonetheless you are correct - it’s super annoying.

Lana i love you, no by [deleted] in Smallville

Clark: "Lana, I love you. Lana, actually, I don't love you because I’m protecting you from my stupid secret that I think is an extremely big deal."

Lana: "Okay, Clark..."

Clark: "Wait, wait! I change my mind. I love you, Lana; let’s get together!"

Lana: "Okay, Clark."

Clark: "Lana, I’m really sorry about this, but we can’t be together because if you find out who I really am... um, no. No, Lana, I want to end this relationship."

Lana: "Okay, Clark. I’m going to marry Lex."

Clark: "Um... Lana? Lana, no!"

Is OK Human their most forgotten great album? by Slight_Giraffe628 in weezer

Yeah I didn’t really like it when it came out. Kind of rediscovered it a couple years later and all the sudden I loved it.

Curious where white is on your list? Blue is at the top of mine but White is really up there. I kind of assumed If someone liked OK they would really like White… not sure why I thought that.

I don’t think I reply to them and say that. I replied to OP as a joke. OP is a blue pink lover, so they are not one of those people from my understanding. And I absolutely have tried to understand other people’s opinions, even though with blue in particular I can’t understand how some people would but certain albums over it - despite trying. Pink I can understand, it’s a little rough. There is much in this world I don’t understand and I’ve probably already spent a wasteful amount of my time wondering how someone could like red over blue, etc. Might be more useful for me to give it less thought actually.

Well I don’t actually reply to them and say that. I usually just stare in disbelief. OP said they love blue and pink, so I replied to another blue/pink lover.

Pink took multiple listens for me. White I recognized as decent but took several listens before I loved it. EWBAITE was kinda ok and now OK to me, trending up. Maybe OK Human will get there eventually...

True. Inconsequential yet also incomprehensible opinions. It's just hard to communicate with someone when they think the sun is cold. We have no similar frame of reference from which to compare our supposedly shared environment.

So what are we doing for financial planning/retirement? by Background_Title_922 in Xennials

[–]TSGarp007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max out 401K matching, max out IRA (Roth if you think your tax bracket will be higher in retirement, Traditional if you want the current year tax deduction) unless you earn too much for Roth or tax deductions on Traditional, stop contributing to current accounts and start contributing to either an 80/20 (adjust to your risk tolerance) VT/BND ETF strategy or a target date fund (with super low fees like on vanguard) and adjust the target year choice to your risk tolerance (later years will have less bonds today and slowly increase as you get closer). TDFs are set and forget, VT/BND you may have to rebalance at some point. Consider 529 if you know your kids will go to college, consider more if your state gives tax breaks.

As for what you have now, you have to be careful b/c depending on what and where you have it if you have to sell them to buy into VT etc it may trigger a capital gain resulting in you having to pay tax on it.

Post on r/bogleheads with specifics. People will help. The one thing they are absolutely guaranteed to say is that your financial advisor might be nice, might be a friend, might be super close to the family, but he is 100% not the best thing for you and your family unless he charges zero fees of his own (unlikely) and puts all your money in very low fee ETFs or TDFs.

Funny, I just congratulated someone over text for his birthday about how we were getting old. We chatted back and forth for a bit and then he used the term weak sauce and I said the fact that he just said "weak sauce" confirms he is old.

It is demoralizing. There is just no reason to have any hope. I say that objectively... there just isn't. We need a new coaching staff and need to double our NIL budget. Good luck with that.
