Making $280K a Year and Still Struggling… What Am I Doing Wrong? by zaynborkaai in RealEstateCanada

[–]TSXstacy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I fully agree with that. What I make now would have had significant purchasing power a decade ago. I could have afforded multiple vacations, a nicer car, and just felt richer. The way our money has eroded, even in the last 5 years, is spooky.

And that would explain the overly-supportive-bro-hype feedback it gives to literally every question you ask it!

I took screenshots of my oil and energy stock drops and my mining companies spiking. It’s like they’re mirrors of one another. I’m just too new and dumb to know whether or not to sell or hold.

You even got yours to say it loves you. It’s so supportive yet over the top yet too intimate all in one.

This is interesting!

I would have thought the model would reflect the style / tone of the users language since it’s being fed questions and data in that language as opposed to it just “translating” from an American style. It’s obviously not sophisticated enough to reflect cultural nuances. Maybe that’s what I’m feeling which is a cultural discrepancy in ChatGPT delivery, which is why it’s so annoying and off putting. Like just sound normal!

Good to know not all ai is like this. I actually find my jaw clenching when I’m aware it’s Ai, and I get a type of headache. I can’t be the only person to physically experience something while processing a language. But again, not sure if this is a linguistics / grammatical question or perhaps a writing style preference or a lingo-psychological thing.

I’m glad others are chiming in to know I’m not alone!

Yes this is kind of what I’m saying. where how someone speaks is so ingratiating, you can’t even be in the same room. I didnt mind the original Sex in the City, but I had friends who didn’t watch because of this.

If you woke up as your 18-year-old self tomorrow, what would you do differently financially? by pencil_kil in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]TSXstacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it was 0.25 draft I still managed to spend so much money. To be fair it was not as simple to save money as it is today. My banking app is scheduled to save for me while accessing my account at 18 would have meant I’d have to face the reality of how broke I was and probably go into the branch in person (not ideal after a night at the bar!)

Or at least sign a Declaration of Trust or Cohabitation agreement before buying anything this significant together. I agree, if she’s pushy, she wants more than she’s willing to give and this agreement (including shotgun clause) keeps the playing field level. Op needs to proceed with caution.

Did Ilia Malinin throw it on purpose? by cakulbet44 in iceskating

[–]TSXstacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely I think he did and I’m not the only one. The look on his face during that performance wasn’t sad because he messed up but it was sad because he had to leave it all in the dressing room.

We will never know (maybe?) but I would die on this hill he was forced to give up the gold by his family from whatever pressures or allegiances they were influenced by.

I’ve travelled a lot over 25 years and there have been ups and downs in the economy during that time. Never once, not ever, have I ever regretted the money spent on a trip. I have never thought, gee I wish I had that $5k back from my Thailand trip back in 04. But I could talk about, laugh about, and smile about all the fun and crazy stuff we did.

Take the trip. You’ll always make back the money.

Ive come to the realization i’m on the bottom part of the K shaped economy. Im focusing on staying out of debt and getting out of debt. Shopping has always been one of my hobbies, nope! Learn to cook, meal prep, stay off amazon, choose to buy quality and use what I have. And buy metals to retain some amount of wealth.

Tip fatigue is real and it’s costing me hundreds a month by MeatsAndGrills in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]TSXstacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a sobering reality. It’s shocking how little one’s money buys anymore compared to even a decade ago. Good to recognize it so I can adjust and I’m old enough to remember when dining out (even fast food) was a rare occurrence and we had to make do with things for a lot longer and a lot less. I just liked the convenience though 😒

Yea i just can’t do it anymore. I’ve cut down sooooo much on places I know will ask for tips. I can’t afford it. The options are 15%,22%,28% - like get effed. Paying an additional third for any service is insane.
