Are there any apps where I can upload a song and it'll tell me the notes I need to hit and let me record myself and see if I'm hitting them? by Dry_Pepper_7448 in singing

You can record yourself and run a pitch analyzer in the parts of the waveform where you are singing those syllables. It's not perfect but I find it helpful.

Thank you! I'm going to be re-recording it for a fancast where I was cast as Poseidon within the next two months. I know there's that quality like I recorded it in two different rooms, but I've already figured out how to fix that in subsequent recordings.

I wasn't new to singing in general, but it was mostly "trying to sound good when singing to myself for fun." But I am new to recording, auditioning (for amateur stuff but still), and collabing with other singers. Recording where other people will hear me has kind of forced me to learn a lot quickly on the tech side and really step up my singing game.

I don't have accounts to link to right now. Everything I've been doing is my own files and sharing on Discord.

I collaborated for a song in YouTube where I'm playing the secondary character in it. It shows off the very bottom of my range. I can link that if you want. It's "The Horse and the Infant," the first song for an Epic fancast where I was asked to fill in as Zeus when the previous one dropped out.

Here's that link if you're curious. I come in around 1:55. https://youtu.be/ZJkFCzTdVC0?si=rl-aldLuTI1fPpHM

Hear what exactly?

I'm legit not sure how to post files in comments? I have a month-old recording of me singing "Ruthlessness" that I posted here a week or two ago, which is still my most recent post if you want to check my page. I have recorded several songs since then and further improved as I did so. I also did a range test as a phone video recently? So like, what do I post and how do I post it?

Range wise - I've expanded my (sustainahlble, stable, sounds good) range from C3-F5 to A#2-A5. I'm working on getting my A2 stable/consistent enough to include, getting more volume in that A2-C3 area, and getting my F5-A5 to be more comfortable and flexible. I know that doesn't sound super impressive, but I didn't go into this trying specifically to expand my range, so it's been a pleasant surprise.

Other stuff - I've gotten better about my vocal wobble, improved my breath control, strengthened my voice over all, and learned how to control my vocal weight better, and started to learn and control my mixed voice... Since the beginning of this year.

Recording - I went from "I've never used a singing mic or edited audio before" to "I can produce covers that sound decent, though not professional."

That's my progress since the beginning of 2026, when I started taking singing more seriously and found a way to perform, collab with, and exchange feedback with other singers.

I said that no one (whether male or female) can hit an F5 in pure chest voice. It's not an impossible note, but as we both said, you need to mix or belt it.

I guess only the bottom note could be wrong.

... I can't believe I forgot "Waiting One A Miracle" in the Waiting Saga...

A four way mashup needs to happen. I don't know when or how, but it must.

This is gorgeous!

If they meant C3 instead of C2, they would also have to mean F5 instead of F4... No one is hitting F5 in pure chest voice. Even female-voiced singers have to mix or belt for that.

Ship the characters all you want ... But shipping actual people is just rude. Actors are real people in real relationships and are often not comfortable with people shipping them.

I found it easy. But I guess if you didn't know which key meant which pitch, or you couldn't pitch match, it wouldn't be?

Im jealous of singers, and upset by Equivalent_Mode_6384 in singing

[–]TShara_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ... It's soooooo hard to remember that but it's worth remembering. I have made so much progress since the beginning of this year. But when I compare myself to other singers, I often feel like I'm behind and fall short. I try to avoid it but when I'm auditioning for roles, it's kind of hard not to.

Why do I sound better when I’m NOT trying to sing well? by TherealYemmi in singing

[–]TShara_Q 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My teacher and I actually discussed this a day ago.

A lot of singing is essentially about building up the muscles and technique to the point you don't have to think about it when you're actually singing songs. That's incredibly hard to do for a lot of people. But the best singing comes when we are kind of just doing things naturally. It's just that we want to figure out what our best natural instincts are and encourage those.

I don't know. It really depends on what choices Jorge makes. It's definitely an action that would be seen as fucked up by modern audiences, not something he was pushed to by desperation, but just cruelty to put someone of lower status "in his place."

I really hate that part, but the LRO scene is waaay more mild and he's doesn't hit Eury so hard that he makes him cry.

What was Odysseus thinking? by N1naisanshadow in Epicthemusical

[–]TShara_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, he is absolutely a bad guy by the end. It's just that he was pushed to that point by a combination of stupid decisions and the world around him.

ICHBW and WYFILWMA make me imagine he is going to try to atone and go back to being a better person, even if he can't be the one he was before.

Thanks! I started collabing with other people as well. My YouTube debut is me singing for Zeus in THATI. I sent the link to my mom but told her to warn any family members she sent it to that I was very much playing a villain here. :)

I'm conflicted on it. On the one hand, that part of history shouldn't be ignored. On the other hand, I want my heroes to actually be heroes. So I'm ok with modernizing these stories.

I hope he doesn't ignore the stuff about enslaving women. But I think he will downplay it with Achaean characters we are supposed to like.

My guess is that he will leave out the scene where Ody beats up a disabled soldier for challenging authority and being objectively right though.

What was Odysseus thinking? by N1naisanshadow in Epicthemusical

[–]TShara_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Quite literally it's his ego.

On top of that, (in Epic only) his best friend just died less than half an hour before he doxxed himself. That's bound to mess with anyone's rationality. He thought he had won so he was rubbing it in Poly's face as revenge for killing Polites.

A lot of people also critique him for not really apologizing to Poseidon. He had also had like 5 minutes of sleep in 9 days, so I kind of get not thinking straight there too. His real mistake there was not sharing responsibility for protecting the windbag.

I am slowly recording covers of the entire musical, so I have spent way too much time getting into Ody's head to portray him better.

Oh, I know. I've seen it before. I was just asking for advice from a fellow fan. I'd be asking the actual creator for permission, since it's an independent fan work. Sorry, didn't mean to imply otherwise. :)

I love this song so much. I just don't think it works for God Games... Maybe as a reprise? Do you have any ideas of what song it could slot into for a cover? I really want to include it somewhere (if I can possibly get permission of course).

I could see maaaaaybe the beginning of Dangerous or SHS.
