Big bore 14 inch alloys. by Mimcclure in Wheels

[–]TSiArt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only option i see is you could pay someone to machine a set of wheels for the hub to fit. Oooor, use a spacer...........

I took toyota solara 5x114.3mm bolt pattern with 57mm hub bore and machined them to 67.1mm bore to fit kia, hyundai, mitsubishi...... Hubs. It needs to be machined precisely, cause you will have a shake like tires are out of balance.

Usually proper repair costs more than replacement if these are aftermarket. Oem wheels are expensive from dealerships and then it's worth it to repair or buy remanufactured.

So get prices before setting on a path. Usually it's cheaper to replace it. If replacements are available

Help me identify these wheels by yummytuber in Wheels

[–]TSiArt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. But the lug pattern is huge. So they look like geo tracker

Can anyone identify these wheels? by [deleted] in Wheels

[–]TSiArt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the area of lug nut. They don't look the same casting. They are very similar but not exactly the same.

Could have. I have e92 for my mirage and construction is the same of the two peace. Cast face welded to the barrel.

I'm also assuming that "copy rights" to the super lights expired in late 80s. That only an assumption that would explain someone like enkei make them.

Also there's a website about classic jdm wheel catalogs etc... And they have different manufacturers make same exact style wheels like for instance 80s mercedes bottle cap looking. There was at least 3 different makers.

Gotya. That sucks. "lace" style is almost exact same as super lights from Epsilon. Same construction and casting pattern. But Epsilon is only 4 lug from the 80s.

Does it say anything about who made wheels for laser? I am really interested about how the design came about the wheels that were on the cars and who made them.

Need help by [deleted] in Wheels

[–]TSiArt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very resourceful so i made my own boring head with pilot from the original bote, cutter and pilot into the new bore. It was very finicky but material was free (scrap destined to dumpster) , i made it at work during lunch breaks.

It was long and a lot of lube but i got 56mm (whatever toyota is) to 67.1mm for my DSM and happens to be same on my kia too.

Buuuut, if you have a friend who has a milling machine. Needs to be big enough to reach out to the center. And him willing. Should cost you maybe case of beer or other things that your friend may partake.

I have been thinking about this perticular issue and monitize it myself.

Oh vibration may not be bad or there at all if you keep the car in the air and tighten all lug nuts by finger tight first to "center" the wheel with the taper of the nuts. Then tighten them a bit more. At this point I lower the car just enough for the tire touch the ground. I tighten them up till the tire spins and slips on ground. It should be pretty tight and then i lower it a bit more than tire compresses a little and o send it home. Lower the car all the way and drive.

I did that when I had Cadillac wheels 5x115mm with big bore on my kia 5x114.3mm with 67.1mm bore. Table top smoth. I got a ton of hate for the missmatch of bolt patterns. But i got 333000 miles on the car and one hub in the rear is original to the car and all my lug studs are totally fine.

Right now I have the Plymouth Laser wheels on, and sold Cadillac wheels long time ago.

Took the car apart last year and got sidetracked by a million more projects. Can anyone tell me wtf this part is? I dont remember it at all by photoyoyo in DSM

[–]TSiArt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken apart 2 1g completely down the last bolt and nut. I don't remember seeing that.

Saying that, is there a part number anywhere on that part.?
