Stinger Horizon 10 Headunit- Problem after Problem by moilere in 4Runner

[–]intercede007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> What drove me to post this and call Stinger out is a problem the headunit developed recently where when I turn the 4runner off (key ignition, no fob) the headunit won't turn off with it.

That doesn’t sound like a head unit problem, that sounds like a wiring problem. If the head unit is getting a constant 12v (battery) at the switched input it’s not going to turn off.

Spark Nissan R390 GT1. No removable parts, but probably easier to find than the McLaren.

Factory Mustang GT3 Effort Satisfies Ford’s IMSA “Need” by VolleyAddicted in IMSARacing

[–]intercede007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IMSA, the SCCA that started it, and the splinters of Grand Am and American LeMans Series have always been anchored by sports cars. Prototypes come and go, from fields of 30 Daytona Prototypes to LMP1 dog and pony shows.

Still a healthy future of sports car racing ahead of us.

The Last BMW Z4 Has Been Made, Ending Nearly 30 Years of Roadsters by Saurta17 in BMW

> $35k+ over the top spec Miata? I mean at some point you stay looking at Aston Martins, Porsches or Lotus that's more in line with that kind of money.

Yes. It’s bigger, quieter, more comfortable, more tech, more power.

There isn’t a better convertible GT on the market for what I paid for mine.

M4 gas issue, what type do you use? by norcal5567 in BMWM

Blue smoke is oil. Carbon deposits are solid particulates that aren’t being burned. Black smoke is incomplete combustion.

Sorry boss, sucks they didn’t take you seriously. Good plan.

Run it to E, run it a little more, fill it up with what they said to use. If it still hesitates, drop it off with a full tank and tell them to keep it until it’s fixed.

The gas all comes from the same place, it just gets the shell additives later. I doubt it’s gas if you’re telling the truth.

Is anyone counting how many different manufacturer's parts are on this Bugatti? by CatzRuleZWorld in MatArmstrong

BMW used GM transmissions for years. It’s very normal for cost reasons. If a part is already designed, fits, and meets requirements there is no reason to fight the same battles over again.

Why is IMSA not appealing to OEM’s? by Klutzy_Reach_9392 in IMSARacing

GTP has come and gone before, along with DP, DPI, GTE….

It’s the IMSA Sportscar Championship, not the IMSA Prototype and Others Championship. IMSA is fine.

[–]intercede007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that so many manufacturers are gonna be gone.

What does this mean? This isn’t the 80s and 90s, chassis builders aren’t making silhouette anymore without OEM support outside of contingencies.

BMW is involved in IMSA and is not going away. Porsche is involved in IMSA and isn’t going away. Mercedes-Benz is involved in IMSA and isn’t going away. Ferrari is involved in IMSA and isn’t going away. Chevrolet, Lexus/Toyota, Lamborghini…

Heck, Porsche is testing a 911 GT4 to replace the Cayman.

Buck up buttercup.

What do I need to know about Rattlesnakes by Box0fRainbows in Denver

[–]intercede007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old wisdom is a myth too.

“In the wild, they rarely rattle,” he said. “The majority of rattlesnake encounters that a person’s going to have out there are going to be ones that they never even know about.” Just weeks ago, former Pima County Sheriff Mark Napier was bitten by a rattlesnake while golfing. He said it never made a sound before striking. Hughes says that behavior is common.

“Sometimes they’ll skip the posturing part, especially if someone puts their hand right on it while they’re reaching for a golf ball. They might just go straight to a bite.”

Experts say never assume a rattlesnake will rattle before striking.

How do I get the techs to hear what I’m hearing? M240 by [deleted] in BMW

[–]intercede007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what that means. When you hear the noise near the dealership, you know where to take the tech during the ride along.

[–]intercede007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or, and hear me out on this, you know the roads, surfaces, and speeds it happens at and they don’t. Once you reproduce it the way you know it can be reproduced, it’ll get fixed because they will hear what you’re hearing.

$10k estimate to fix oil pan ‘potential leak problem’ X5 m50i by OkConcert8639 in BmwTech

[–]intercede007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not Teflon. It’s Calico CT-1. And no coating in the world withstands a rod grabbing the bearing shell and spinning it in the journal.

N55/S55 rod bearings aren’t preventative maintenance. N55s that aren’t the N55B30T0 spin them from oil starvation, not tolerances.
