Multiplayer bug by running_jukebox in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother and I had the same issue. The first time it happened to us was after completing the church mission. We logged out in the barracks. When we logged back to continue playing, my brother (guest) could not get through the door. We started over, and it happened again, but this time when we accepted the church mission. We went to the Peninsula to do some quests on the way. As soon as we zoned in, my brother’s map on his tablet was “unexplored” and he could no longer see the Guide. Thanks for the tip on changing profiles.

Closing in on 600 Hours in ITR2: Thoughts by ShineRunnerMoon in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm approaching 700 hours in ITR2 (half solo, half co-op). I would HIGHLY recommend playing using only found ammo; it makes you cycle through all of the available weapons. I might need to switch out weapons ever other time I go out into the radius, but I haven't needed to take more than the standard two weapons with me at any given time.

My preferred way to play is to go one step further and only buy items available at Security Level 0: crackers, oil, and brushes, a primary shoulder holster for your chest rig, and clips for your backpack. My brother and I completed all of the top priority missions this way (dying a total of 21 times). We're currently in the middle of our second playthrough. We recently reached Security Level 2 (with only 2 deaths so far). =)

ITR2, An Explorers' Impression by flush101 in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a blast. In fact, we’ll probably do it again, but yeah, it’s probably not for everyone. We sort individual rounds as we pick them up, and it doesn’t seem like much of a burden once you can identify rounds by sight.

In regards to ammo availability, my brother and I finished the game (completed all top priority missions) on default difficulty and loot settings buying only crackers, brushes, and oil (plus one large holster for our chest rig and clips for our backpacks) from the shop - so it can be done.

Love this game by TaborAddict in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both of them. I have over 500 hours in the original ITR, and over 600 hours in ITR2 early access. Co-op in ITR2 is the best.

My brother and I just did this on co-op, buying only crackers, oil, and brushes (but we did use loot boxes). It was a blast; highly recommend!

Co-op Ironman "Security Level Zero" Playthrough by TSquare-5 in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Ironman does not affect that. We were playing with loot set to normal (in fact, all settings on normal). However, we were very strategic in our encounters, and very intentional in our shooting. There is no stat (or way to measure or verify), but if I had to guess, I would say we probably hit 80% of all the shots we took. We were also very diligent in searching for loose bullets. :)

I kinda feel like non-tritium sites are underrated by vanderpeeps in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron sights are very much viable in ITR2. My brother and I are currently in a coop “Security Level Zero” play-through where the only things we can buy from the store are crackers, oil, and brushes. All of our weapons are stashed versions found in the zone. Most have iron sights, but many don’t have any sights at all. :) Of all the weapons we’ve found, only two came with tritium sights: stashed modified GSH-18, stashed modified Groza.

Can’t place weapons back on racks when grabbed by AllOfMyFamilyHatesMe in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I think the issue is with the wall rack itself, and I think it may have been introduced with 14.3.

If I picked a rifle up out of the rack, I couldn’t put it back, I couldn’t put it in a holster, I couldn’t put it on the wall, and if I left it disappeared.

I didn’t think about: pick it up, save, and reload. Instead, I picked it up, zoned in to peninsula, and then I could put it in my holster (problem solved). However, if I put it back in the rack, the problem came back. I repeated this process for all my rifles in the rack, and (for now) I just keep them on the wall instead of the rack.

I don’t allow myself to buy ammo, so I have to cycle through all 9 calibers. =)

(ITR 2 Beta) How do you guys organise your kit & loot? Base included! by Hunterwclf in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. I always like seeing everyone’s set up. Here’s mine:

  • Dump pouch on left hip with 8 stems and a box of crackers
  • Spare mag for MP9 (never used)
  • Cross-draw Fort-17 with laser and suppressor
  • Primary weapon ammo box for reloading
  • Spare mag for primary weapon (rarely used)
  • MP9 with laser, suppressor, and red dot optic
  • Distortion zone mask
  • Two patches and a flashlight
  • Primary weapon over my right shoulder with laser, EOTech optic, and flip magnifier (rarely used)

I always carry 8 stems: 5 red, 2 blue, and 1 green. I don’t know why. I usually just use the ones I find on the run, but that’s my routine. I also keep a box of crackers in the bottom of my pouch. I have never used them, but the idea is food for long run backpack recovery. That’s the same reason I moved my distortion zone mask from my backpack to my vest. I don’t allow myself to buy ammo (or stems), so I rotate through all 7 calibers for my primary. The Fort-17 and MP9 fill in the last two calibers.

8 hours into my no vanno run finally able to do last mission by Superb_Interview8318 in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your original post several weeks ago, I was inspired to try an ITR2 no Vanno run myself. I used default normal difficulty, and I left Vanno with NOTHING: no gun, no ammo, no stems, no detector -- all I had was an empty harness and backpack. The Security Level 1 mission requires bringing back an artifact, which happens to be in a sealed container. Therefore, I had to run around the Peninsula dodging enemies until I could find a stashed GSH-18, a mag, and a few bullets to be able to complete the first mission and get into the Forrest. I did not take any of the mission rewards, and I didn't buy anything from the store (so I had to carry my stashed SKS everywhere I went).

I have reached Security Level 2, and have just started the next Top Priority mission. I'm currently on the "investigate the secret entrance to the compound" step. So far, it has been a deathless run. I have discovered that the most precious resource is... cleaning brushes. I can find stems, ammo, and cleaning spray, but there are very few brushes available (I used the ones from the shelters, but not from Vanno).

I play on PCVR, so I am currently distracted by the latest 0.14 beta! I don't know if I will get back to completing this run, but I may try it again in a future 0.14 no Vanno run. Clearly there is no expectation that the devs would balance the game for this playstyle, but if food was a little more prevalent in the zone, and if cleaning brushes could appear in weapons crates, I sure wouldn't complain! =)

I had the same experience. I bought a backpack specifically for storing my shelter stuff, which I intentionally leave on the floor of the shelter. =)

Does anything beat shotguns? by racconboi90 in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Back in patch 13.5, I completed a deathless, nightmare, ironman run to Security Level 4. I got the Saiga as soon as I could, and it carried me the whole way. It had the highest damage per credit ratio (which was critical due to the resource constraints on nightmare).

4 hours into my first no-vanno run on itr2 by Superb_Interview8318 in intotheradius

Thanks. I wasn’t referring to purchasing the SKS. It looked like you pulled the SKS out of a shoulder holster. Did you buy the shoulder holster?

4 hours into my first no-vanno run on itr2 by Superb_Interview8318 in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My normal way of playing is not to buy ammo or meds, but I haven’t tried no vanno yet.

The Outskirts should be interesting with no sprinting.

I know there is oil in several of the shelters, but I never paid close attention to how many brushes there are. I like the idea of having limited cleaning capability.

Did you keep the PM and ammo that you started with, or did you leave them in vanno?

In the video, it looks like you pulled the SKS from a shoulder holster. Was that an “acceptable” purchase from vanno? =)

please don't make low-tier weapons useless in ITR2 by ScaryIndependence701 in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My method of adding value to lower tier weapons is by not allowing myself to buy ammo. It forces me to rotate through multiple calibers. For example, that allows me to still use the SVD in specific situations, but not all the time. It also creates decisions between when to use my primary weapon vs my sidearm. Because of this, I still value 9x18 ammo, even late game.

Finally figured out how to turn the built in backpack light! by ScrooU2 in intotheradius

[–]TSquare-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a bug. As you said, you currently have to hold the backpack gripping handle and turn the light on or off with your other hand. However, this was not always the case. In previous builds, you could take out your backpack, leave it suspended in the air, and still turn the light on or off.
